It's been a few years since our last visit and we were looking forward to returning. Farm Restaurant did not disappoint. As always, the highlights of the visit were the ambience, friendly staff and farm-to-table concept. We felt there were more variations on the menu this visit thought it is still beef-forward. My husband and I shared the BBQ ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans along with dinner salads. The ribs were moist and flavorful, the veggies crisp and the salad is always wonderful, especially the homemade dressings. The garlic potatoes were average and not very garlicky. First let me say I was here last summer with my family fourteen people, and they were so accommodating... The drinks were great, food was great and the service was wonderful.... So my sister and I were staying in Port Austin this past June and on my recommendation we made reservations at this restaurant, I kept telling her how wonderful it was, boy was I wrong.... First the host sat us at probably the worst table they had it was a table right inside the door, if we were a walk in I could understand but we made a reservation, and there were other empty tables.... Our server recommended some Hungarian meatball dish that I couldn't even eat, it was that bad because trust me, I'm pretty fluffy I eat everything, but not this. My sister got some pork dish, I don't know if it was pork, she ordered a glass of wine when our meals were brought and didn't get until we were done with dinner crazy I don't if the place has changed ownership but I definitely would not recommend this place read more

This restaurant is on an actual farm and has a fresh, seasonal menu that changes daily. We were staying less than a mile away and found this through a quick search. We arrived without a reservation and were seated at the bar. It was an enjoyable evening-- the bartender too good care of us. When we said we weren't sure what to offer, he said we could pick at random and it would all be good-- he was clearly correct. This place has close to if not the best food in Huron county compare right up there with Gordon Ramsay I have never come here and had a bad meal most times I've had the fish for instance on mother's Day I had the coconut crusted grouper this summer when I went by myself I had the barbecue North Atlantic salmon and then right before fall I had the cherry Atlantic salmon The beer wine and liquor is all delicious The servers are nice it's a great atmosphere you going to spend a few dollars but it's worth the money for the taste of the food I would suggest anybody that wants a great meal to come here read more

Pretty disappointed with the new owners. Kids gave us a $100 gift cert for the farm (last year), we were excited. Didn't realize it expired in a year (my fault). So with a 2 week expired certificate I called them. They would not accept the gift certificate, rattling off some bullschtyne about having to contact the previous owner. If I could give this place a 10*, I most certainly would. The Farm has been on must try places for quite a long time. It was a beautiful Fall day and we had time to make a trip up to the Farm for dinner. The Farm is about 2hours from my house, so we left early. I called and was lucky enough to get a reservation. This place is hard to get in so I suggest planning out your visit ahead of time. I'm kind of an impromptu person, so if I get a whim...watch out, you never know where I might be! Haha :) We made a day trip out of this whim and stopped at a few spots along the way. Why not make the most of it! The Farm is located in what I call corn country in the tip of the thumb, Port Austin. This Farm to table restaurant is one of kind in this area. We were both excited to check out the menu and thoroughly indulge. We ordered smoked whitefish dip, which was a total experience in taste and presentation, fried deviled eggs, a trio sampling of their homemade soups, Blackened Ribeye with horseradish butter & garlic mashed potatoes, and a spicy shrimp entree. OMG!!!!!! Our meal was over the top and absolutely delicious. We ended our evening with the pumpkin crème brûlée & bananas foster served with a puffed pastry. This is going to sound corny...but it's been a while since I've been WOWED at a restaurant. This place is on a different level. We started off with the Arancini with the basil aioli. Lightly breaded. Melts in your mouth. No effort. I had a the garden salad with the Celery Seed dressing. They also took that seriously. It was fresh, crisp, and the dressing was delicious. My wife got the Hungarian Meatballs and I got the Grilled Shrimp. We ate off each other's dishes frequently as they were both incredible. Very rich and flavorful. The food here is GOLD. The house salad was one of the best I've had with a great presentation. We ordered a couple whitefish dinners, a steak, one braised beef and a coconut pork chop dinner. The kids ordered off kids menu and were happy with those. We sampled some of our different dishes. The consensus was steak and braised beef dishes were good. The whitefish was not that good - dry, little flavor. The hands down winner was the coconut pork chops - so delicious! The desserts were amazing. We tried 3 different ones - ice cream with 6 macaroons, berry cobbler and a rum cake with ice cream which was a favorite. The cut out cookies included were a special touch. Nice, homey interior. Phenomenal. Absolutely delicious. Possibly one of the top 5 meals I've ever had! Service was outstanding, food was ridiculously good, everyone was super accommodating to my children. I told my husband we needed to vacation here again and grab reservations each night so we can try the rest of the menu. It's a shining diamond in this area. Had this restaurant been in Ann Arbor it would be sold old every night and put Zingermans to shame. THANK YOU for actually putting healthy food on the children's menu!! The only very small downside I could think of was I'm fragrance sensitive and there were a lot of candles. A great place for a great meal in Port Austin! We started with several appetizers and all were very good. We had the smoked whitefish dip which came with a cloche with smoke that was removed at the table. Unique presentation and definitely a delicious smoky flavor. We also had the deep fried deviled eggs and the baked Brie. The Brie was amazing and I would definitely recommend it! We ordered a couple of the drink specials including the blueberry lemonade, the pear martini and the strawberry rhubarb martini. All delicious. Our group ordered the beef filet, the ribeye, salmon and meatballs. All of the meals were delicious. We also sampled a couple of desserts - the mocha chocolate torte, the chocolate brownie with ice cream and the cobbler. The brownie and cobbler were great. The coffee ice cream in the torte was delicious but wouldn't order that one again. Our server Shannon was amazing. Attentive and funny, she made our experience even more enjoyable. My first review of this wonderful little gem in the middle of nowhere was four years ago - I loved it then, and I still love it today. I have to say that it's probably one of my favorite restaurants in Michigan, and definitely my favorite in the thumb area. I've never had a bad meal here. Everything is fresh and farm-to-table, as well as prepared and presented perfectly. Yes, it's pricey - but you get what you pay for. And this food is worth it. Their menu does change slightly based on what ingredients they have fresh on hand, so if you fall in love with a certain appetizer or dish - it may not be on the menu the next time you visit. Certain things they always have, like their incredible whitefish or the fall-off-the-bones ribs. But I'll never forget the fried green tomatoes app I had a couple years ago - it was one of the best dishes I've ever had, and I haven't seen it on the menu since. I keep hoping, though! If you get a chance to try the whitefish dip appetizer - DO IT. It's amazing, full stop. And you'll have to see and experience the presentation for yourself, it's quite brilliant. Drinks are good, my favorite is the Rooster - cherry preserves blended with vodka and lemon makes for a refreshing frozen drink on a summer evening. So I've been to this restaurant twice, and the first time was better. I was torn about only giving it 3 stars, but I feel like that's the more honest rating this place gets, partly because of the price and partly because of how it bills itself, which is 'an upscale gourmet farm to table using only the freshest ingredients' kind of place. It's certainly notable for its location and atmosphere - it's very different from other restaurants, it's in a farmhouse and it's 'casually elegant'. And there were some highlights - We sat in the bar area, which is in a new addition, very cool. We had the fried deviled eggs, and those were fantastic...deviled eggs on steroids. But still, the waiting was a lot of it...we waited long periods between visits from our waitress, so much so that by the end we were all tired of it. And since it was warm, it eventually became to warm, even muggy (there was no AC). And the dishes? My Hungarian meatballs, supposed to be wagyu beef and pork, were good, but really, nothing special. The sauce had a bit of flavor but was lacking in quantity and quality, and the garlic mashed potatoes, well they were there, they were edible but nothing stood out. My girlfriend enjoyed her ribs, and the ribeye was supposedly good, but the salmon was given a 'good' without much strength behind it. I'm sorry...if I'm spending 30 bucks on meatballs, I want them to taste like 30 bucks went in to it. So still, a good place, but not a 30 dollar a plate good place. read more

This restaurant is located a few minutes out from Port Austin, MI. It is a true farmhouse. It is decorated with a country home decor, chickens, country pottery, aprons, etc. Dining tables covered in spotless white tablecloths. We ordered a braised beef entree (39.95) and a pork entree (29.95) We ordered soft drinks. Bread and butter was brought to the table for starters. We each ordered a house salad (6.95) Entree's came with vegetable and potatoes with the beef and vegetables and rice with pork. I wish the menu had stated the entrees came with sides, it would have saved us from ordering salads. Also, I wished the ingredients of the sides were listed because the onions in the rice did not agree with me. Everything was prepared nicely but overly priced. Menu lacked details of ingredients. Service was good. Our table was in a weird corner that had all of the service people stomping by us the whole evening. I recommend reservations. read more

It was sweeter than the usual French onion. I ordered the ribeye which was pretty dang good. My husband ordered the meatballs and they were not worth the $30 we paid for them. They looked pretty on the plate though. My kid got the chicken tenders. She liked them. We also ordered a dessert. My husband got the berry cobbler and loved it. We got the brownie ice cream dessert and it was ok. The brownie tasted suspiciously like brownies I made as kid in my easy bake oven. So kudos for the childhood memories and nostalgia. We were on our way to another restaurant but saw the packed parking lot and thought we would try our luck with a seat for 2. We didn't wait but 5 minutes to be seated. We were greated by our wonderful server Danielle M. who was as charming and sweet as the whole atmosphere at The Farm Restaurant. We also received great menu suggestions from the bar tender who kindly stopped by our table to bring us our drinks. We had the White Fish and Scallops and shared them. Both were absolutely amazing. We recently went to Joe's Seafood in Chicago and it didn't even come close to touching how wonderful this dining experience and food was.
