A good addition to the neighbourhood! For the size of the store, options are pretty good and prices slightly lower than Choices.

Popular itali-mod restaurant Campagnolo puts out delicious treats made by their new pastry chef. Little Qualicum Cheeseworks offers samples of all their artisan cheeses - the feta is delicious!! You can buy your own herb, cucumbers and pepper plants, plus much more. Local food tastes better! Because it has less packaging, is seasonably fresh and in tune with mother nature. Growing organically helps to protect biodiversity by encouraging growth of lesser known varieties, which can often be more delicious if only for their rarity! ie. tomatoes - heirloom anyone!? They travel less distance in a guzzling truck, keeps our local economy alive, and encourages use of the province's land for farming. So it tastes better.

And yes, there's a plethora of other amazing local options: fruits, veggies, beautiful Little Qualicum Cheeseworks samples and goods, jams, breads, food carts, meats -- oh my! I love this particular farmers market more than any other in the city, not only because it's s'damn convenient, but it (out of all of 'em) feels the most urban. It's not trying to be a tra-la-la oasis in the city; rather, is straight-up located in the hub of a busy commuter zone in the middle of the workweek. Genius. There's something so very special about this one. It could be that I run into someone I know each time I go, but everything just tastes a little bit better when I buy it from here. Buying local just feels s'damn good.

The food is really the main event here for me. There are so many unique eats and you can basically walk around grazing the whole time. The chow mein is a must every single visit, and I never skip the dim sum--especially the har gow which is honestly so good. The ice cream and dessert stalls are also worth saving room for because they're half the experience. It's definitely not somewhere I personally go for shopping. The stalls are there, but the quality isn't really the focus, and I usually just stick to the food side of things.

The washrooms are available ( thank goodness) but not in the greatest condition. There are 2 levels to Richmond's Public Market, The ground floor has the market of fresh produce, seafood, meats, herbs, gifts, electronics, flowers, set up like a Chinese outdoor market . Although I never get to check out the ground level during both visit since we were here early and not open yet. But my favorite is the 2nd level, this is where the foodies will reunite, the food court, So many Asian foodies selection, from Szechuan, Taiwanese, noodles, dumplings, boba tea, even Vietnamese too, there's too many to list. The reason I made a stop here twice was for Hei Hei rice rolls, which I am pretty sure If you know, you know. I grab from 2 other shops here. Tables were provided which I was able to enjoy our rice rolls and also got take out for later. * cash only, since credit cards are not accepted, we used the ATM to take out some cash/CAD but the fees were ridiculous, better to be prepared next time and exchange $$ upon arrival to Richmond, BC. Great nostalgic place (30+ years) to visit, don't judge by the looks of it. Now extended hours and open until 8:00 pm!
