Wow, after ordering from this place, my own fault, I realized that this is not worth a dime. I placed a catalog order and after the growing season was over, 95% of the plants I ordered were dead. I called the 507-334-1623 number to ask about the limited warranty and after being disconnected three times I lost my temper. I really think I was talking with someone from India WTF! For anyone reading this post stay away from this company and for Farmer Seed & Nursery SHAME ON YOU. If you really care about your product you should stand by it; Don't put out BS warranties. It would be nice to hear back from Farmer' to clarify the air, but I know that won't happen. So, stop sending me your catalog and sell your products elsewhere. your catalog read more

Tomato plants shipped by Fed Ex.....9 days to go from Ohio to Nevada, without air or water...10 to 12 stops along the way where I'm sure they were tossed around many times. They say they use the fastest shipping method...BULL...I get orders from NY in 3 days by Post Office. Very poor packaging, box was 3 times the size of the plant package so it could bounce around in it. 4 plants...1 completely shriveled up and dry...other 3 barely there that could not be saved. 2 emails to the customer service so far with no response. read more

I ordered raspberry canes laxt year. They came DEAD. They sent me a credit voucher. This year I ordered strawberries and a mock orange back in April. Today June 20 I got them after many calks to the company and guess what... the mick orange is dead and the strawberries don't look very good either... and the seeds I ordered in April came 2 days ago. Don't order from these people. My plants were or dead when received. I ordered a red clematis vine, and it was dead. I ordered (2) birds in a bush because hummingbirds love them, I have never received my order. I ordered a catalog and never received it either, not that I need one now. I ordered over $100 worth of trees when I got them they were just dry dead sticks in the bag the told me they were just dormant. Nope they were dead not a drop of moisture in them. If you try to bend them at all they just snap if it were dormant it would bend not break. I will never wast my money with them again. read more

Great experience. Ordered a whole bunch of different plants totaling $150. All plants were just what I expected; small and dormant, mostly bare-root. Planted them properly (according to the exhaustive guide that came with my order) and within a couple of weeks, they're all thriving. If you're expecting large plants, like you might buy at a nursery or big-box, you might be disappointed, but you shouldn't be. The Forsythia I received, for example, are just single branches or "whips" with dry roots and no foliage...yet. They're all perfectly good plants, though, and are offered at an unbeatable price. It's a great, cost-effective way to fill a garden. Will be buying from them again. read more

I purchased for the 2nd year in a row #6138 purple leaf plum hedge. Half of my purchased plants died from last year; 6 died six made it I did not save the label so no warranty. I purchased 6 this year to fill in; what I received was twigs some even had roots; I waited about 3 or 4 weeks nothing happened, I mailed in the shipper label I received a letter with the shipper label stating the plants are sent dormant. Nothing is growing two more weeks of temps in the 70's and 80,s will not change that. DONT buy via mail; the plants shipped are small and its a huge waste of time since they success rate is low. local nurseries do not carry these for good reason, Utah may not be the right climate or the plant stock sent is just too low of quality with poor results. I am cutting my losses and going to buy actual plants from a local nursery as two years in a row with limited results-IM OUT ALSO This company sells under various names on the internet the product does not improve by switching same results. read more

I'm trying my best to be positive but due to my bad experience the best I could give is one star. To start with I ordered seeds in late March 2020. I prefer to start my own plants as that seemed simple enough--ordering seeds and not to complicated. After a month I decided to follow up as I had not received any notification on status. I probably called a dozen times but you only get a busy signal with no message service. Imagine this day and age with no message service? My next option was to email. I asked for a refund because after waiting 30 plus days, I no longer wanted their business nor could I understand their lack of responsiveness. I got an email response on 30 April 20 stating they would process my refund if not already in shipping. I contacted them twice more through email and got no response nor did I get my refund. On 12 May 20 I received seeds I no longer wanted that weren't shipped until 7 May 20. So apparently the 30 Apr 20 response about shipping was a lie and they had no intentions of processing my refund. Ultimately, they shipped the seeds 7 May. I'll never do business with them again as ordering something simple likes seeds is beyond their capabilities read more

The catalog is beautiful! Don't be fooled. I ordered these plants and waited, and waited. Finally, I emailed them. I received a letter stating that two orders had been delivered. No, they had not, but then, that week, a large plastic red bag arrived. I was thrilled, except that the Asparagus was moldy. I managed to salvage it, and get it blooming. I cannot say that for most of the plants. After nurturing everything that I received from them (and the rest of my large garden of trees that I have purchased for our seven acres), the following never leafed out: 4 of 4 Black Tupelo, 4 of 6 Purple Leaf Plum, 3 of 4 Lilac, 1 of 9 Poplar (these were the best of the trees sent), 4 of 4 Red Maple, 3 of 6 White Birch, 2 of 2 Weeping Willows,1 of 4 Red Twig Dogwood. They are dead. The rest of my trees are doing well. The company states that you have to send the shipping label back, or it is VOID (they capitalized this.) I tried to call them, but their phone doesn't work. So, I cut out the label to send, and see that it is a different amount than the letter with receipt that they sent me. They say they sent me two shipments, but I only received the one red bag. I sure wish that I had read these reviews before buying almost $200.00 worth of plants. I know they are going to give me a run-around about the quantity because of the shipping label. I am shaking my head in disappointment, and thinking that this business license should be revoked. Depending on how they treat my replacement request (if they honor the trees that were dead on arrival), is whether I go to the Better Business Bureau next. Worst nursery I can think of. Recieved totally dead trees. Called, they asked if I wanted replacements for those dead trees, which they sent another batch of totally dead trees. Asked if I wanted more replacement trees, which I denied. No refund available, only store credit. Who wants store credit for more dead trees?? Ordered 50 norway spruce, 25 quaking aspen, and 10 blue spruce. Of those, every one of the norway spruce were covered in a thick white mold. Tried calling customer service multiple times over a 3 day period and each time could only get a busy signal. Emailed using the contact on the website and was given a generic response about planting the trees as soon as you get them. I planted them anyway, but they obviously have all died within 2 weeks. Most of the quaking aspen and all but one of the blue spruce have also died. Would not order from this company again. I have never heard of such a ridiculous return policy of sending the shipping label with a letter to get a tree replacement. It is even more difficult to get a refund. They clearly don't stand behind their products and these reviews show why. Most of their shipments arrive dead or die soon after. For those looking for cheaper bare root seedlings, I would just use arbor day. The trees I ordered from them are thriving. read more

After much wrangling, the company agreed to re-ship the bare root tree. The replacement bare root plant arrived today and was broken into 3 pieces,with the roots completely separated from plant. I ordered 12 trees. I received buffaloberries instead of the juneberries I ordered. I was told to send in the shipping label. So I did. The rest of the trees were under a foot tall and not even as big as a pencil. Only two have shown life. I told them that and they said they had my label on file and would be shipping them. That was 3 weeks ago. Today I get a letter in the mail stating they need my return label. I have not received any replacements not even for there mess up. That was 6 weeks ago. I understand getting my large order in parts. Received the first part with no problems. THEN some of the plants arrived. Part of them were alive (all 4 pepper plants) but only 1 out of 4 tomato plants survived transport. Trying to call the company and all I get is a busy signal. Received my plants on a sunny day in early March, planted the blackberries immediately with proper mulch for frost protection. The peony and fossil tree were planted in large containers inside my greenhouse. Plants looked not outstanding, but were alive and should grow.
