This company also goes by Direct Gardening. Do not ever, ever, **ever** order from this company, ever. They don't ship plants, they lie; they ship roots. If you do end up with a plant or I should say barely a sprout, it will die. I ordered in April, they took my payment in May, and I got a tiny bag in mid-June. Half of everything arrived dead. I shipped back, at my expense, half of the order and they have not issued a refund. The rest of my order? Died. In fact, they're claiming I didn't pay them at all which is utterly absurd as I have the bank statement showing paid. Now they're threatening me with legal and police action, harassing me, trying to extort money I already had paid them. Half of which they still have not refunded. They do not answer their phones. They reply by email so slowly and never with any actual useful information. These people are total scammers and I do not know how they sleep at night knowing what they do to people. Worked here 50 years ago when I was in college. From the looks of the reviews, they haven't changed. Used to have a "plant of the month" club with thousands of members. Remember not having any of the miniature orange trees that we were supposed to ship. Owner told me to send miniature lemon trees and lable them as orange trees. My mother ordered some plants from House of Wesley. After reading all the negative reviews about them, I figured we'd wait forever, get dead plants, and have a huge hassle dealing with the company. The company does take quite a long time to do anything, whether it's fill an order or issue a refund. That's the only negative about them. Contrary to other reviews, I found the company very easy to contact and to work with. Every time I called there, the phone was always answered immediately by a live person. The company always did everything they said they would, when (albeit slowly) they said they would do it. After ordering the plants and waiting several weeks, maybe about a month, my mother got the order. After pondering for a couple weeks about what to do with them, she decided that planting them would be way beyond her means (she ordered a couple hundred plants), so she wanted to return them. Again, based on all the negative reviews I read online, I figured we'd be unable to contact the company, and that they'd find some excuse to not refund her money. The timing was right at the end of the 30 day return period. I called to see if I needed a RMA, expecting (based on reviews I'd read) to have a hard time reaching the company. Their phone was answered immediately by a helpful, pleasant customer service person who said no RMA needed; just send them back for a refund. I sent the package back Priority Mail around the end of June. After a couple weeks, I called them to check on status of a refund, again expecting the worst, based on other reviews. Again, no busy signal, no auto-answer, no annoying phone maze; a live person answered the phone immediately. You sure can't beat that for customer service! The customer service person said they'd gotten the return, that it was being processed, and that a refund would be processed and issued after that, in another week or two. Again, based on all the bad reviews, I still was dubious we'd ever get an actual refund. By the end of July, my mother had her refund check in full. So my experience with their customer service, as well as their returns policy, was nothing but outstanding: a lot better than many companies I have dealt with. The only reason my review is 4 stars instead of 5 is that they do move pretty slowly. It took about a month to get our order and about a month to get the refund. I finally received my order.  I must let you know that communication is key when conducting good business. I found your communication lacking.  I could never reach a live person to talk to and only received generic emails.  Not specific to my concerns.  I love gardening and take it very seriously.  I waited three months to receive plants that looked half dead.  I will not only never order from you again, I will also discourage others from doing so.  In the future I will buy from local gardening shops.  It would not have been so bad if I knew what to expect or could have reached a human being to talk to.  How the House of Wesley has survived 67 years is beyond me.  It can't be because of customer service or quality of merchandise, unless I am just an anomaly.  Please remove me from your mailing list and do better for others in the future. I ordered 32 astilbe roots and one zepherin thnls cl as climbing rose. the astilbe were small, with few roots, but some had already started to sprout. the climbing rose wasn't so good. it had fungus on one major limb, almost no root structure, and 2 dead limbs. one item, "coll listed below" was not shipped. after a month after the order I finally called them and was told that they ship according to planting zones, south to north, and in Missouri it wasn't time to ship yet. nonetheless after a few days the package did arrive. I planted immediately using good garden soil and peat moss. I'll wait to see how they do. If they don't grow I'll definitely be a "1" customer. read more

Do not expect to get what you ordered from this company. I ordered several plants based on the amazing prices they promote on their website. The plants delivered do not match the plants I ordered. One example from my order was a large-leafed (30-36 inches), fast growing blue hosta. The plants delivered were a different variety - microsized (3-4 inches). I attempted to work with customer service several times to resolve - they insisted I was wrong and they sent the correct plants. The customer service is horrible! Direct Gardening is just a call center for orders from several different nurseries and they have absolutely no idea what they are doing. I ordered several different plants in March. I called in April, and again the beginning of May. I just received the plants on the 15th of May. I knew they were bare root, and that is what I received. I've ordered a Rose Collection for $59.91, when I got the roses all but two were dead and the tow died right after I planted them. Because I didn't returned the dead roses I can't get a refund. I'm trying to get a replacement order so that I'm not out of my money. It's a back and forth, I send the original label back with a replacement order to get other items and every month I get another letter from them, asking for the label I don't have anymore. I should have known better than to go with a mail-order nursery with a name like "House of Wesley", and with a PO Box as an address. Figured the prices were too good to be true (shame on me). Wish I had checked the on-line reviews before ordering from this company. I ordered four different plant types, with multiples of each one. While one of the plant types did come, in good condition and is doing well after planting, I have no hope of every receiving the other three items. I have called countless times, and every time I'm given an new shipping date. That date comes, and no shipment of plants. The last time I called, I asked for my money back. There was dead silence on the other end of the line. It irritates the hell out of me that they got my money. I waited two months for my order and, when it was finally received, it contained dead and damaged plants and saplings. I am trying to recover my payment but might take a loss of close to $200. Ordered in early April, in May I checked to see about the order, advised it would be shipped end of May or first of June. June 18 checked, it was due to ship the next week. Mid July finally get partial order, out of about 40 plants, only 12 viable, and still not sure if they will survive, others destroyed due to the way they shipped them. Get a card saying that 1 set of plants will be shipped in 2022. Call again about rest of order, they advise due to being late in the season they will ship them in 2022. UMMM NO, if I wanted them in 2022 I would have ordered them in 2022. Advised wanted a refund. Out of $140 order they refunded $44 saying the order that I got was the rest of the $. I should have know better than to go with a company that I didn't know about, to save a little money. I am going back to a reputable company. We ordered product from them in April in which they hit our credit card right away. We called in June to inquire about the order and they indicated that it could be an additional 2 weeks or more. I told them I wanted to cancel order and receive credit. They require this request in email which I did. They shipped the order anyway and the product was way low quality and poor condition. It was a joke. They would not send prepaid shipping label. It cost me $15.00 to send order back and I do not have and Return authorization number. This place is a scam. Do not trust them. Ordered about 100$ worth of plants in March and was billed on my credit card in April. By May I tried contacting the company on the customer service line for 10 business days in a row at least 15 times a day. Never heard anything but a busy signal. Sent an e-mail to the customer service asking about my order and never heard anything back. I am not sure this is even a gardening nursery company at all or just a financial scam artist based in Bulgaria. I do get their fancy brochures and they have a fancy website ....but I don't see any evidence that anyone works there besides the billing department. read more

You have done a wonderful job shipping the plants. I must admit I was getting anxious, took over 3 weeks! My plants came today & everything looks great! I love the little see through green plastic containers that you surrounded the plants with to protect them, they are all in great shape. I will plant them all tomorrow that are ready. I put the bare rooted plants in a plastic container that I cut the top off of & added water, they already had green growth on them. They are all in a safe place outdoors until I can get them in the ground. I can't wait to see them all blooming! Thank you for the extra little bulbs too! I ordered in April, and because of inclement weather, my order shipped in June. The weather here on the west coast was warm, and I expected the worst. I was pleased that more that 1/2 of my order was alive and thriving. I had ordered some bare root trees and small shrubs, and after hydrating them, they still didn't come around. I sent the company my invoices as instructed and followed up with t phone call. I should be receiving replacements any day now. I placed an order on April 9, 2020. I didn't receive my plants and no status online so I contacted them on May 1st. They couldn't tell me if / when I might receive my order. So, I sent them a email cancelling the order. On May 4th they confirmed my request to cancel via email AND then charged my CC. Today is June 11, 2020. They have told me I would have a refund and I still have not. I have never dealt with such a poor company. I do not suggest using.
