The menu however was just boring, it's the middle of summer and I wanted a salad, well the seasonal salad that changes daily consisted of exactly 2 vegetables lettuce and cherry tomatoes, this was the only salad on the menu, and among the only vegetables as well, the word farm is in the name of the restaurant and the vegetable options are are 2 kinds of potatoes (again it's the middle of the summer), asparagus, and a 2 ingredient salad, that's it. The "wild" mushroom ravioli in a butter sauce was cremini mushrooms in butter straight up. Melting butter does not constitute a sauce. Everything on the menu seemed to lack any sort of imagination or understanding of seasonal food despite many of the dishes having seasonal in the title. read more

Was expecting Poughkeepsie to be a sleepy little hamlet in the Hudson Valley during our recent trip to upstate New York, so we were surprised at the creative dishes that we tried at Farmers & Chefs. The flavors and ingredients were really top notch, and they had a nice selection of local microbrews We arrived in the late afternoon, but the place seemed to be filling up quickly when we left. A true gem in Poughkeepsie! My boyfriend and I love it so much we've been back twice in the same weekend. For dinner I recommend the charcuterie platter, caprese salad, lobster spaghetti, and duck ragu pasta. All the pasta is made in-house and is AMAZING! We were here the other night. The food was outstanding however the experience was less than. While my party was eating a server dropped a tray. A women behind the bar/bartender screamed across the room at the server. This server was berated in front of the entire room. There was no asking if the server was alright - just a stream of critical words. Embarrassing the server beyond belief. Our table was horrified - it was unnecessary, unacceptable and obnoxious. One of my go to spots when I'm around. I have been here at least 6 times and tried 60% of the menu. My go to is the octopus and mussels for appetizer if you're a seafood lover. The chicken liver pate is also one I get occasionally. The steak au poirve peppercorn sauce is one of my favs but my go to is usually the salmon with Brussels sprouts. I had the chance to try the goat cheese and mushroom ravioli today and it was divine. I can personally vouch for the cacio e pepe, their soup of the day, and the chocolate lava cake. I also had a taste of the delicious mushroom ravioli. It was a cold night so our original outdoor seating at another place was just too much. Covid times, all that. Lucky for us, this place had seating for us indoors. The tables are 3+ meters apart, so more than the requisite 6 feet. Waitress Jessica was a pleasure; she was present, fast, and checked on us frequently but not too often, even when we were the last one to leave. Food was very good. The bottle of wine elevates all meals when you are with friends. We had the duck (so flavorful and moist, not overcooked), the salmon (the sauce was utterly delicious), the chicken pate (almost, not quite, but almost, as good of foie), escargot (frozen, so not ideal), chicken (overall good sauce), the pub burgers (tiny bit overdone when requested medium), the steak (this was SO GOOD- exactly right). Really poor customer service. I was really interested in trying their food but was ignored when I asked for a table the only time I went for personal reasons. Another time, I was door dashing, and they had me wait for nearly 45mins, all while the manager berated me. It got to the point where I unassigned the order and went to my vehicle. As soon as I sat in the driver's seat, door dash notified me that the manager told the Dasher app that I picked up the food. I went back in and told him I needed the food, to which he said he wasn't giving it to me. So I said that I wouldn't leave without it since he made me wait 45mins just to lie to my job and refuse the order. Police were called, and I was harassed by an officer until I told the officer he could search my vehicle and check the restaurants security cameras because I wasn't given the order and I hadn't left for about an hour at that point. I ended up getting the order, but the officer was too lazy to make an official report, despite my very urgent request-stupid. I submitted feedback to the Dasher app, letting them know about the terrible experience, and that I'd never pick up an order from there again. Just in case you're wondering, that works, and I haven't been given an order from there since... But screw that manager guy-what a way to make an impression. He must not be the owner or care very much about the reputation of this place or himself. Simply put, he should be ashamed of his behavior, and I wish I had his name to tie to this review. DO NOT GO HERE for brunch. Went for a 45th wedding anniversary this past Sunday (8/26). Sat outside due to the nice weather, and it seemed as most people did as well. Had multiple different servers (one for napkins, one for water, one for orders, one for bread, one for appetizers, one for entrees) who did not seem to be on the same page throughout our 2 hour ordeal there. Ordered drinks first and an Angry Orchard, Screwdriver, and Kahlua & Cream took 20 minutes to get to our table. In the meantime our waters were empty and none of the servers noticed. We still had menus and it was only until 30 minutes into sitting down that somebody who was not our "original" server said to us "I see you still have menus, did somebody take your order?" After that our original server came by almost as if she was being shown up. Waiting for bread, nobody came by even after asking 3 different servers. Finally, one of them told us there was a problem in the back and apologized. That would be the only apology we would receive in this entire fiasco. When our appetizers came out 30 minutes later, they forgot one of the appetizers. Then when our food came out, one of the entrees was completely wrong (an omelette was ordered, a veggie burger was presented). Do not go. Save your money. Definitely need to step their game up; so much potential but falls short in so many aspects. read more

We went to the restaurant on a Sunday late afternoon/evening for a small family gathering to celebrate getting married a couple weeks ago. They were able to give us the banquet room so it made the evening so special and comfortable. It also worked out great as there was a baby as part of the party. The food is nice but watch out for all the rules. Prices are as expected. We (2 of us) arrived around 8:25 on a Tuesday evening in mid June (last night) there were many open tables on the outdoor deck available. I asked for a table and was told by hostess she could not sit a party of 2 at a 4 top so we were forced to take a small table. There were 4 or 5, 4 tops available. As I suspected they never sat the other tables the entire time. We had our apps and dinner, the waitress came over to offer dessert and we ordered the bread pudding at 9:30ish. She returned to the table to tell us the kitchen closes at 9:30 sharp no exceptions, we could not have the bread pudding we ordered, not because they were sold out. The kitchen staff would not plate it after 9:30 and we were asked to return another night to order it before 9:30 if we wanted it, not like we received a warning. This is no way to run a good restaurant and make guests feel welcome. We were very polite and left a generous tip 22%. The customer is the whole reason the place is there. We are local and will return but you have to take care of the paying guest and not bombard them with unreasonable rules that don't fit the situation. If the place was packed with a wait sure the 4 tops have to have 3 or more. If you offer desert and the guest orders it in a timely manner give it to them, they are paying for it. You don't know if it is someone's special occasion or not make them feel special not like they are at the DMV. read more
