I said it was my first time there so you think the older lady who was greeting me would have said welcome and explain a little bit about the place when I asked how long have they been in the area. As probably the only reliable sit-down restaurant that opens on Sunday mornings, Cranberry's in Hyde Park, was it. This was an incredibly cozy spot for a laidback breakfast after wrapping up with an errand in the area. Aside from another couple, we practically had the place to ourselves. Almost imagine being in a quaint B&B's dining room with 50s Doo-Wop thrown in- well, that's the feel you get here. Service was nice and so was our simple, hit-the-spot breakfast. Between my tasty mushroom+fresh mozzarella omelette and hubs' BEC, we had no issues. As a heads up, these folks don't have iced decaf, what you'll get is hot decaf coffee with decaf coffee cubes. Different for these parts- but hubs drank it. My first Chai I ordered, came with warm milk on the side but when I poured it in my mug, the milk curdled. When I mentioned it to the owner, she said that she drank milk earlier that morning¯\_(ツ)_/¯. In my head I'm like, "did you NOT notice that it was spoiled????" Plus, the small pitcher the original milk was served in, had that milk ring on the inside. Ewww. I hesitated ordering another, but I was somehow convinced to. Needless to say, the 2nd, was safe to drink but I got flashbacks. Price was right and my drink issue was straighten out with a very fresh one. read more

We arrived at the Parker House on a Sunday night. Joann and Roger catered and amazing dinner for our group of 7 women. They arrived at 6pm everything was piping out. The only thing we had to do was open a bottle of wine and enjoy our delicious meal. Great start to our vacation. read more

I came here with my boyfriend for a quick bite after touring the mansions. Even though they were closing in a half hour, we were not rushed and were able to savor our sweets in the cute Victorian dining room area. I had the pumpkin bar, which was delicious and so generous of a portion that I had trouble finishing it. I also had a cup of their pumpkin coffee, which hit the spot on this brisk afternoon. My boyfriend had one of their chocolate chip cookies paired with chocolate milk. The chocolate milk was from their little help serve freezer section. It was local and super delicious. I really can't say enough about Cranberry's at Tiley Hall. Being directly across from Piersaull house, I have had the pleasure to dine here many times. The food is always fantastic, as is the friendly service. The most important element of this restaurant to me is that they provide classy, upscale dining without the upscale pretension and snobbery that usually accompanies food of this quality. The menu does change frequently, and I enjoy the variety with each visit. They have a great selection of local beer and wine, and also have a full liquor license if you're in the mood for a cocktail. Cranberry's also hosts special events like wine tastings and teas, and the menus are always inventive and delicious (scones to die for!). The events are fun to attend, and we always meet new friendly Hyde Park locals or folks just passing through. The interior is always seasonly decorated and feels more like a comfortable country house than a hoity-toity place where you're afraid to break something. Joann our usual server, is sweet, funny, and attentive. She certainly puts the patrons at ease! Please note: Cranberry's hours and days of operation fluctuate depending on the season, so call ahead or check their facebook page to be sure they are open - you don't want to miss out! We stopped at Cranberry's after our visit to Vanderbilt Mansion to get a bite before heading home. What an unexpected and fine find it was! Exceptional customer service (our waitress, originally from Serbia, was the most delightful person), scrumptious food (the fluffiest and airiest pancakes, and crumbliest but moist scones that make you forget any dietary resolutions you've ever made) and the interior furnishings and finishes of the place itself true to its historic origins that fill you with a sense of comfort and happy nostalgia of a previous era that luckily is still present at Cranberry's. Next time I head 1.5hrs towards New Hyde, this cafe will be the number one priority on the itinerary list. read more

I know some of my friends like this place but I personally don't. There's a variety of coffee but I'm somewhat of a Starbucks brat so I won't judge on that point. I ordered a sandwich which was not that great and was pretty costly for what you get. We also went for breakfast and you're better off at home or at the diner. I'm torn on Cranberries, but in a good way. Part of me wants it to be larger so more people can enjoy it, but at the same time, it would lose some of its charm. It's got the "gravity well" as you walk in, i.e. desserts and pastries and such. And on the counter there were at least TWELVE carafes of different types and flavors of coffee. If I hadn't already had more than enough coffee this morning, I would have tried the chocolate peanut-butter blend, just because. There's lots of options for eating in - comfy sofas, small and large tables. There's bookshelves with books to brows, surrounded by a large variety of teas you can also try. A cooler in the back has more cold beverages you can purchase. The salads don't necessarily feel like the best deal here (about $7 for a specialty salad, $5 for a garden salad). But the ingredients were very fresh, and - important to me - NOT iceberg lettuce. For that, plus freshness, plus ambiance, I would definitely get a salad - or lunch, or breakfast, or coffee - here over the McSalad options a little ways down the road. read more

This is a great little place! It's perfectly situated just a few blocks from the Vanderbilt mansion and a few miles from FDR's home. It's a small, quiet cafe that has homemade meals and a nice selection of coffee. They also have a little bakery with pastries and desserts too (they looked good, but we didn't try them). I tried their chai with my lunch and it was very, very good - nicely spiced and perfectly sweet. My fiancée got a salad and I got a wrap and we both really enjoyed our meals. Augh, so sorry to drop the ratings on this place...but it just was not good. French toast , donut muffin, left nearly untouched by my kids, my Philly sandwich was dry, didn't seen to have any cheese, and only a rare pepper/onion. Coffee was lukewarm (they have 10 Urns, so maybe it was my choice that was cool). Service was super friendly 6 stars) and the peanut butter bar was a hit. The macaroon was uncooked inside and I had to toss it during our trip home. This place was recommended by the culinary institute when we found the CIA bistro was closed...so we had high expectations. Excellent vibe...need to work on the menu, and organization around service (2forks left when 4needed, long wait for 2 of 4 meals so other meals we're cold, fruit and sausage missing...) Had a wonderful late afternoon tea on October 2. Had visited Vall-Kill, the home of Eleanor Roosevelt. And than look for someplace to have a bite before we drove on to the Berkshires. There was not much that we could fine. The Culinary Institute was closed, and most other places didn't have outdoor seating or look very inviting. We noticed Cranberry's and saw the tables outside with a very nice fall display. It looked inviting, so we decided to give it a try. Even though they were not yet open at the time we stopped by, they could not have been more accommodating. We sat outside in the autumn sun, and had mini-pumpkin pies that just came out of the oven, and apple turnovers made with delicious local apples. The food isn't good enough to make the trip there only to find another hand written "Closed today" sign and a locked door. It's inconsistent and not how you keep patrons. read more

Cranberry's has been in town for a long time. The cafe was always delicious and you definitely got the bang for your buck. For the price you got a full sandwich and a side(chips, fries, fruit salad, or pasta/potato salad). Today 3 of us went in and to a sandwich and a grilled cheese(for each kid). The menu states served with a pickle and chips. We ordered sandwiches to go and waited in the couch area of the cafe. When our orders came out, it was only the sandwich. We asked about pickles and chips. The girl working the register stated "that is only for dine in customers". Why is that not reflected on the menu? Why is the price not lower as you are only getting a simple, homemade size grilled cheese? It never mattered if you were eating in or a to go order, you got what the menu stated. Disappointing, will not be back as there are plenty of other cafes up in Rhinebeck or diners near by. read more

Went here for a bridal shower - cute place! I'm not sure how the regular food is, but the noshes served for our private group were mostly delicious. Yummy stuffed mushrooms, salmon and cream cheese pinwheel wraps, salad, mini grilled cheese sandwiches... The only thing I tried that was not so hot was the polenta, cucumber and tomato bites. I had a wonderful breakfast there. The atmosphere is great and the service is polite and prompt. I would have liked to have had my computer with me so that I could sit and work there the rest of the day!! Nice seating very classy and homy. There were a couple couches dividing the tables in to 2 seating areas giving a nice effect. A group of young kids and their parents came in and them being ont he other side was not disruptive at all. I think the seat was nicely planed. What made it better was the big widows that some of the tables were in front of. The natural light was delightful. We had bagels because we are working out way through the bagel places in the area. Cranberrys makes their own bagels form what I understand and they are good. There is limited selection but all your major favorites are there as well as multigrain. They are not you typical New York style with the bubbly crust like I was looking for when I went in but they are defiantly good. They cream cheese was defiantly above your standard cream cheese too. I will give a well done on the bagels I had tea and you will all was win me over with Harney and Sons tea so that was good to. I did not have the coffee by someone I was with had the hudson valley blend and said it had a good flavor. So nice job there. Last but not least we split and apple turn over and it was perfect!!! Usually you get good apple filling or good pastry else where this was good both. Ours was sill warm so that was even better. It was not to sweet ether. The crust was amazingly flack and delicious!! We had a lovely brunch between FDR's Home and the Vanderbilt. We were seated promptly and welcomed. The menu for brunch had some choices that worked for differences of appetite....I had the Shrimp Cocktail and my husband had a breakfast option which he said was delicious. The wait staff was charming and the owner stopped by to see if we were happy. We are from out of town so we decided to get some scones for the next mornings breakfast and the owner was so gracious and added an extra treat for us in the bag which was delightful. The scones were delicious! The ambiance was cozy comfy. There were quite a few tables but you didn't feel crowded. The bathrooms were well appointed and overall I was totally charmed. We had brunch there today. It was a lovely experience. We were expecting their lunch menu, but they had a Sunday brunch menu. I had the eggplant rolattini which was very fresh and nicely cooked. It was a little surprising in that there was no tomato sauce. The Intrepid eater had corned beef hash and eggs and it had ham and hollandaise thrown in. The egg plant was garnished with a delicious arugula salad and fruit and a small piece of garlic bread. The coffee was delicious. I was impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the decor, which is country cute. It was like being in a bed and breakfast without sleeping over. When our charming waitress recognized us as having stopped in Friday evening for their happy hour, she remembered us and she sent home some scones for our breakfast. This place is a 4 minute walk from my house. Needless to say when I first saw it prior to moving in to my current abode, I thought it was adorable and still do. However, after taking many walks there by myself or with my family, we continue to feel the same way and unfortunately today's visit will probably be the last. To be honest, the place is always busy, mostly with an elderly crowd with some mix of younger people. The inside is ok, could use some updates. The blueberry and cranberry bars as well as the Morning Glory cookie are our favorites, we don't like the price however. $4 for a bar approx 3-4 inches square, yikes! Today the Morning glory cookie literally fell apart in my hands into a pile of crumbs. My total for a chicken salad wrap with a side of potato salad, a blueberry bar, aforementioned morning glory cookie and an ice coffee was $21 and change. The potatoes were under cooked and the salad itself was a light brown in color, not sure why, and had no taste. The chicken salad was very meaty, can't complain about the portion, but they couldn't seem to spare more than a sliver of tomato, and as a whole, it had an odd flavor to it that I couldn't put my finger on. The ice coffee is always fantastic as well as the help. Very pleasant and patient especially with the older crowd. Wait times for service and food can be a little long at times. Needless to say, they seem to have a loyal crowd and everybody has different tastes for food. Perhaps the older crowd enjoys it because there seems to be a lack of flavoring in most of the food I have had there and they find that more palatable then food with bold flavors? Not sure. Love their French roast coffee!! Always come here when I want to grab something yummy for breakfast! The place itself is beautifully decorated and feels very cozy. The staff is also very friendly!! I think that's what brings me back continuously. One of the cashiers always asks me how I'm doing in a genuinely interested way. Their service is very good. Found this place here on Yelp. Just moved into town and so a few friends and I were exploring. The people working here were very friendly and helpful. Asked one of them how the chocolate chip macaroon was but she didn't eat coconut.. I was SHOCKED lol. I ordered the cheese steak sandwich. It was YUMMY. It could use some mushrooms though. I also ordered the Chocolate chip macaroon and that was delicious as well. Its a very cute spot to eat and hang out. I look forward to my next visit. =) read more
