Overall a good pet feed store to go to a lot of mixtures and variety of food for your pets. Unfortunately, what we're looking for as soon as though they did not carry it at all which was a large heavy duty dog collapsible cage. But just with some of the uniqueness that they did have withchicken feed, they have eggs there, they have their hands in their roosters, made the visit even more interesting it's not every day that a lot of us visit a feed store, but it is something pretty neat to check out. Something different for the kids to be around and get a kick out of. read more

Though hosting an expansive facility and nice employees, the high prices and zero regard for animal well-being made for a dissappointing visit. The prices for everything pet-related are much higher that anything you'd find in any other store online or in person; don't waste your time coming here looking for a good deal. The animals were ALL packed into enclosures much too small for them. Whether it be rodents, reptiles, birds, or fish, they all looked undercared for and in borderline abusive condition. Bird cages packed and caked with feces, leopard geckos looking sickly, multiple large snakes packed into small tanks, numerous fish that are incompatible with each other in tanks too small, etc, etc. This may be countered with the fact that other pet stores follow the same unethical practices, but it was especially bad here, since they are assumed to not be as closely tied to corporate rules and public opinion. I'd also like to talk more about the fish, because it seems like they have no knowledge of proper fishkeeping in particular, not to mention the 90$ beta fish (yes, 90$ for one) that was dying like many others. There was also a tank for sale that was a "no maintinence" tank; it had multiple dead shrimp in it, so I don't believe it is. All sections also smelled more than many other pet stores. Other than that, the employees were kind and offered to be help multiple times. But overall, not great prices, bad animal conditions, but nice facility and kind employees. I have no knowledge of farming and feed supply, so I cannot speak to the quality or price of that catergory. read more

Don't listen to the negative reviews!! Those people are just mad they didn't think things through before purchasing a live animal. One thing people need to know is when it comes to livestock, things can happen. All the animals here are healthy and taken well care of. You can find chicks, quail, chickens, ducks, ducklings, pea fowl, game fowl, guniea pigs, rats, mice, fish, reptiles, occasionally bunnies. The prices are somewhat high on certain items but most of the feed is decently priced, I'd like to see a 50 pound bag of rabbit feed for $20 again. The people that work here are very nice and they know who I am by name. Been coming here for about 3 years now. Definitely give this place a try. read more

If you are looking for very nicely kept chickens, this place is good but Peninsula Feed in Redwood City is stellar. Those chickens look happy and healthy. Its tricky selling animals. Its hard to do it right (but please try!). Having seen many a feed store, i get that its hard. And Farmers Feed isnt perfect. But i liked the solid bottoms on the cages for the rabbits and guinea pigs and they looked pretty comfy. Staff was helpful. Baby pigs and baby goat were looking like their situations were pretty good considering. This place is bustling. I hope those animals find their loving and forever homes soon. Quality of the timothy not great unfortunately, kinda old looking. Would point that huge fan further away from the rabbits. read more

I have officially lost half of my flock. Bought 12 chicks, all ended up with coccidia, respiratory illnesses, and cloaca prolapses. I only have 6 left.... Half of my flock is dead. All of these chicks came from farmers feed Stockton. I do not have any other birds in my home that they were exposed to, all of this illness is from this establishment. This place is disgusting. The owner avoids our phone calls too, refuses to do anything. I have had a number of people and more experienced chicken keepers look over my brooder and conditions and temperatures. Everything I am doing is right on the money yet half of my chickens died. That should be a red flag to anyone considering buying anything from this place. read more

Love this place! Mike and the whole team are wonderful and helpful. If you are paying for flea or over the counter meds for your pet than go here. WAY cheaper! I get too distracted by all the birds! I wish I could have another aviary but no room now. I can't stop myself from always visiting their bird room. They have amazing inside/outside birds. They have everything you need from horses, birds, cats and dogs, and everything in between. I'm a monthly customer. For our dog food they offer a buy 12 and get one free bag and with three large dogs that is HELPFUL! I want to note that two of my fur babies have skin issues and I have been able (with help of staff) to get my babies on the right food products and supplements to get my babies back on track to their best shiniest coats and get the right products for their itching issues. They have a very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Customer service could not be better. It's a little gem of a place. read more

Farmers feed had such great affordable prices, but unfortunately I CANNOT continue to shop here. Today I went in and I saw how inhumane they treated the animals they ILLEGALLY sell here. They had at least 10 bunnies crammed into a cage with only 1 water container, not even a bowl which is more appropriate for bunnies. I cannot fathom who would even buy these sick/starved bunnies from here. Management NEEDS to do better. read more

Great spot for feed. The have feeds for all types of animals. Their prices are fair and they're super helpful and friendly. They've all seen my kids since they were born and they ask about them when I come in alone. They also have tons of different animals for sale. It's not a pet sanctuary or anything, but it's not like the animals are abused or even stay long, people are always buying their animals so there's always a rotation of them coming in and out. They also have a great selection of chicken breeds. Great people, great product. Ps. They don't harass people about wearing masks. They could care less either way. read more

After raising chicks for 40 + years & seeing just about every issue, Farmers Feed in Stockton sells poor quality unhealthy chicks for the highest price in town. Last year we purchased 27 Pullets, raised 25. 2 passed unknown reason but of the 25, 9 were roosters . It costs a lot of money that you lose raising hens that turn out to be roosters. They claimed at 10.99 each which is ridiculous that they we're guaranteed Pullets. Not so. Then we're stuck with them or hand them over for their hushed fighting business !!! This year decided to buy 11 Pullets, to make up for what didn't happen last year. 5:30 warm sunny day early even & we race them home and put them in their beautiful big brooder, fresh water with probiotics, organic chick start & a bit of scratch for the 2 older ones. Nice warm light and lots of room, everyone happy. Next day found 3 just laying there dead. Frustrated they don't refund or even replace! Stick with Tractor supply & Robisons. They stand by their critters. We have a nonprofit rescue with 300+ critters from Horse's to Alpacas to Peacocks, it's all here as well as a tremendous feed bill, so money doesn't d grow on trees it's taken seriously, Farmers feed has become greedy and over priced. There are countless feed stores including Walmart & of course Tractor supply, you'll spend less & they stand by there goods. Even Amazon is better. read more

A great place for little city farmers to go buy feed and supplies for their pets and farm critters. The help is there for you to load up feed or help you find what you need. They also carry vaccines for dogs and cats if you prefer to do your own. They carry a huge assortment of poultry chicks and adult chickens and turkeys and baby goats and pigs. Now they have a fish and reptile room. It's a small place with a lot for animal lovers. It's a fun place to take children that doesn't cost nothing. Oh yeah, they sell big farm fresh eggs by the dozen or flats. Fresh eggs are great! It's one of the best things Stockton has for its animal lovers. I am an animal rescuer and 75% of what I need comes from here. I give 5 stars to the great hard working helpers that are always busy helping customers. And 5 stars for quality pet food and feed. And 5 more for keeping the animals pens clean and fed and watered. read more

zero stars absolutley terrible place.I went here with my husband just too look at some cute animals and we came across a pot bellied pig one of the employees proceeded to lie to us and said "hes neutered and he comes with a free bag of food."We decided to buy him and some hay we come out and they have him boxed and ready to go so we go home and hes super agressive he was biting , humping non stop, and chased me sevral times he would not stop biting our ankles, hands, and calves NEUTERED PIGS do not do this so we went back and asked for a refund after telling them all this and confronted them about lying to us and they said no. I asked to talk to the manager and he went on to tell me its not my problem because Im not the one who lied to you ." I told him it was because one of his employees lied to us and so I asked again and him and another female epmloyee chimes in with him saying they arent refunding us for the pig we payed for after they lied then another employee said randomly "No that pigs not neutered I know for a fact he isnt neutered im the one that took care of him." they all said nothing then the owner told us to show him who told us it was neutered after we described him perfectly so the owner and his minion follow us and we confront the guy and he blatantly lies to our faces saying he never said that and that it was someone else I told them he was lying they didnt even care. We still didnt get our refund and the female employee proceeded to scream at me from across the parking lot as im walking to my car. This is a terrible buisness please dont go here this was my first and last time at farmers feed, will never go here again my husband and I are sueing. They out right lied and did not care, and did not care to make it right how rude and unprofessional. the employees should care about the customers and at least the owner should. (he's the only staff member i've ever had a problem with) every time i go in any question i ask he "doesn't" know. what i love about this store is that on most brands you buy 10 big bags of dog you get the 11th one for free. i finally made it to my a 11th bag he looked through 3 cards and couldn't find mine. he said sorry bro you don't have one i said i know i have one i've been coming for years. mike the other man that usually helps found it right away. that asian guy just didn't want to look and then got mad when mike found it . so i'll be buying a more mainstream food so i don't have to go back . read more

First time here and was approached by a younger Caucasian male with colored eyes. We asked where the section to fix a certain bug problem is and he showed us and he sais if we needed more help on the subject, sure glad we did ask for mire help. This place is atrocious. The employees not wearing masks is one thing... but the treatment of animals in that store I cannot ignore. I frequently come in to purchase hay for my rabbit. I was EXTREMELY disappointed to see that they started selling rabbits. I was informed by a worker that they receive their rabbits from a breeder. For those who may not know... in January 2019, california BANNED the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits from breeding mills, ONLY rescues can be sold, otherwise it is illegal. There are tons of animals that are bred for sale, just to end up mistreated or on the street. There are 3 small cages STUFFED with rabbits (plus guinea pigs). It is 90 degrees in Stockton and they are under hot lights. Rabbits can't sweat to control their heat, so they are all suffering in that sauna of a store. In just one cage I counted over 10 rabbits. In each cage, there was 1 bowl of seed shit, and only 1 water dropper. The water dropper didn't even work because as soon as I started squeezing it for water to come out, all the rabbits started huddling around to get drops of water. (I recorded a video but I couldn't post it on Yelp). Anyone who knows anything about rabbits, knows this is extremely improper care. Droppers are for hamsters, NOT RABBITS. Rabbits need bowls of water, otherwise they will be extremely dehydrated like the ones in this store! I asked one of the workers to ask least put bowls of water in there. I suggested he include hay as well, considering they had NONE and it should be 80% of a rabbits diet. He told me that he's only allowed to put 3 handfuls per day. And that hay was supposed to be their "candy". This is FALSE, hay is the biggest component of a rabbits diet. Do a 1 minute google search and anyone can find this out. Within a matter of minutes the rabbits consumed that tiny handful. Probably because they are STARVING. They didn't even have proper pellets for their age, it looks like a mixture of seeds. My one 5 lb rabbit goes through several handfuls of hay a day + pellets, and leafy greens with fresh water. She is affectionate, smart and needs lots of exercise. It is evident that these people do not know proper rabbit care, and in that case shouldn't be selling them. One of the baby rabbits I saw had a eye infection and was crusted over. The worker said he "never noticed it". Of course nobody noticed it because nobody is taking care of them! Sorry but nobody will want to buy sick, malnourished animals. I will say, I do not blame the worker as he was very kind and took my advice. Whoever is the management of this store needs a major reality check and should have more COMPASSION for their animals. I understand they are in the business to make money and sell animals, but this is just wrong. They are living breathing things, and the least they could do is provide them the bare necessities like WATER and FOOD. I will not be shopping here again and will most definitely be making a report. read more

I would give zero stars if I could. None of the employees are wearing masks. They don't enforce mask wearing and it's obvious they don't care about their customers health and well-being. You would think with ICU beds filled in San Joaquin county that they would care but it's obvious they don't. One of their employees smelled very much liked weed and although I could care less whether they smoke on their free time, I think it is very unprofessional to be high while on the job. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, numerous and anxious to help you find what you want. Prices are much lower on parrot food and dog food than those of the "Uptown" pet stores. Their clients are mostly, I think, farmers and ranchers, rather than pet owners like myself. I drive over five miles each way to deal with them rather than pay more at more local, pricier stores. A great Taco Truck in their parking lot is a cheap, very tasty bonus ! read more

They were kinda pushy on the puppy shots. saying they have 6 way for $10.99 each, but I said that the Carri Feed sold them for 5.99 each. They just didn't have them on hand the day I went and thought this place would be nice. I was wrong. The man that was selling them was a bit rude after I told him hold on. He said that the Carri Feed only sold 3 way shot and are not as good. So I called them right away before I made my decision and He was way off! I had a feeling he was lying to try to make his sale. Lying gets people no where and that's one thing I hate the most in life. IS A LIAR. So they lost my business. And another person that was next to me deciding it was nice to over hear my conversation with the Carri Feed people. I love coming here because the entire staff is so friendly and helpful. They always have what I need in stock for my horse. I've tried other feed stores in different towns from Tracy, Galt, Wilton, Lodi this is by far the best service and the prices are decent. I also got most of my masks from here. I bought 6 chicks here in different breeds. 2 died the first couple days...one ended up having a scissor beak that I will have to hand feed as long as it's alive or it will starve.. one turned out to be a rooster which was promised they knew they were hens..and now my latest news.. another one has marek's disease and its legs stopped working and it's supposed to be extremely contagious and will probably go to my entire flock. People, this is the real deal. Walk in the back door and you'll see baby chicks by the droves. Every kinda feed a farmer, 4-H kid or future farmer could ever want. This place hasn't changed much in 50 years and that my yelp friends is a good thing. The hubs and I are thinking about buying chickens so we can harvest our own eggs. I'm responsible for the research so guess where I'm gonna go? Farmers Feed Co in my old Eastside hood. We are in the city limits but, if kept clean chickens are a great hobby. They're quiet (don't buy a rooster by mistake or you will pay dearly in angry neighbors and city fines-more than likely) and pay great dividends in the harvesting of their eggs. Get down to Farmers Feed Co in my old hood! It's where urban chicken raiser meets country cowboy and the world gets just a little greener. read more

Farmer's feed just looks and feels like a pet shop should feel. I just get dog food here, the only place in Stockton with the Innova brand, otherwise I might not come all the time. But it's nice to go somewhere that doesn't have that corporate flourescent disinfected feel that you get from a big chain. The selection of supplies are great at this place, they carry just about everything. Prices are a little high, however if you are buying bird food they offer "by the lb." The only thing that I can complain about is that the animals being sold are in horrible condition and in my opinion not well taken care of. This place should really start focusing on their live animal selection OR just stop selling them as a whole. This place is unique in Stockton, a business that time passed by. It is a feed store and pet shop all in one. Where else in town can you buy chickens, dog food, goldfish, horse grooming aids and lots of other stuff under one roof. We are always welcomed by the report of roosters when we walk in.
