Lovely store with tons of great local options. They were super helpful with explaining the different flours and picking out which ones would be best for what we wanted to make. We also picked up butternut squash from their farm stand.

    Cute stickers!

After 5 or 6 friends told me I HAD to go to this store we made the drive to Sparta to check it out. I'm so glad we did. They have a beautiful, clean store filled with so many local goodies. The prices were very reasonable compared to similar stores(not that any compare to what you're getting here). Above all, nothing they sell here has been grown on farms using biosolids(which have negatively impacted so many of us in surrounding areas). Thank you for providing such quality products for us. We will be back!!

My first loaf using Farmer's Storehouse Flours. Even with my three years of practice their flours made a taste & texture difference.

Not good pizza. The pizza is extremely soggy and it tasted like there was no salt added to the dough or sauce.

So I went looking for a CSA - community-supported agriculture - meat share. The search lead me to Caney Fork Farms. Boy, am I glad I signed up!! So a full share runs you $100 a month roughly. This is all organic fresh butchered meats from their farms. The taste is simply unbeatable! If you live in Murfreesboro, the closest pick up is at Smith and Lentz Brewery in Nashville once a month. Not too bad, really, for what you get!! The shares vary in meats and you can set preferences at the start. Plus, the weekend before your Tuesday pick up time, you can customize your share based on availability. You can even get extras - I got fresh local honey and focaccia bread this last time! I have had roasts, steaks, pork chops, ribs, bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage links and patties, and even bratwurst! The flavours are unlike anything you can get at a grocery store. Once you try the fresh bacon, you won't want grocery store again!! A full share goes a long way for the two of us. Family of four would need more, in my honest opinion. Nevertheless, the share is worth it to me for the freshness and flavour!! Shares go by the season, so if you do one season, you can skip out of the next if you wish. The staff is super nice, too! Tell Natalie I sent you!! :)

They are truly farm to table, local support and making some of the best (top 3 in my life) freshly made, small batch, organic fermentation products. I bought 2 kinds of Tempeh, 2 kinds of sauerkraut, kimchi, ginger beer, garlic chili sauce, veggies and freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies. What can I say except, OMG!!! The tempeh was a so delicious and I was able to try a version I never had before; split pea style. Again... so delicious. Best sauerkraut ever. I mean it.... my wife and I devoured the whole bottle with the meal we made. Not overly sour but super flavorful. Garlic chili sauce/paste is my go to for my marinades and as a dipping sauce. Perfect amount of heat with big flavor. Ginger beer has a big kick and goes down very nicely. I am headed back for some root beer too. The cookies did have a chance... the smell got me while I was pulling out of the parking lot. I bought 2 but wished for 10 more. Yep, that good. Run, do not walk, to Woodbury TN and experience this magical kingdom for yourself. You will become a regular especially if you are into classic goodies like pickles, pickled carrot and beans. Enjoy your life. Make it better by eating Short Mountain's goods. You'll be sending me your likes if you do.
