This restaurant is has a very unique theme to it. They have a very youthful customer base at the bar which gives the location an almost modern feel before entering. On the inside, there are designs with uses of 1960s and 50s automobiles parts and traditional Italian decorations. The style of food is Italian with an emphasis on seafood. The food selection is very small if you do not like seafood. Appetizers cost around $15 and up. This place is not cheap. They have a very interesting menu option with is "catch of the day" and "Game of the day". These dishes are special dishes that are either seafood plates or meat plates that are prepared with all the extras. The waiter/waitress will end up describing it with such fine details, such as fine brazed crab with drizzle of aioli on top of balsamic smoked ...etc fir about 30 seconds. Almost feels like a salesman pitch :). Anyways my girlfriend ordered the catch of the day and I ordered chicken pizza. The food took longer than I expected only because it was not busy when I came. I don't mind waiting fir good quality and freshly prepared meals. My girlfriend really enjoyed her seafood plate that I do know the name of. The pizza tastes like any other brick oven cooked pizza with a little more zing to it due the usage of goat cheese. I also had a kale salad as an appetizer that I would say was the best part of my dining experience. Either I was really hungry or that was great salad because I am not a salad guy. With a glass of wine, bill totaled to about $80. Food was good, service had good effort, but price for value is not there. read more

This is my fourth time eating at this restaurant. I love to take friends from out of town here - it is so unique and the entire restaurant is fun to look at. It's based off of farm fresh food, which my grandmother loved (she grew up on a farm). The menu states where all of the produce and ingredients are purchased from. Our server Alfredo was great! He brought us their amazing bread even though it was lunch time so my sister could taste it. We also had the Margarita Pizza, the Garlic Fries, and the Tangerine Mimosa. A tip, keep in mind that if you are ordering entrees during dinner hours, it will not come with a side, and they are a bit expensive. But the sides are huge and definitely worth the purchase separately. The prices for the pizzas, salads, and sides are very fair. Any issues I've ever had here have always been taken care of and compensated for. Keep in mine they are closed in the middle of the day until 4pm to set up for dinner. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Me and my family of 3 came in Father's Day and granted it was busy so we were understanding of the crowd 100%. However when we were got seated it took 10+ minutes for a waiter to take our drink order and another 10+ minutes to ask if we were ready to order. After waiting 45 minutes for our food the waiter said he would check on our order and came back to ASK US WHAT WE ORDERED?! Are you kidding?? So our patience ran thin due to the poor service and the fact that every table around has had no problem with getting the attention with drink refills and getting their food in a timely matter. We went to Farmer's Table a few weeks after it opened. The food was just okay, some warm and others cold. The service was just okay as well. The servers were not very knowledgeable of the items on their menu or the wine that we asked about. The chairs and tables felt very packed in with little space to pull your chair out or have a server come to the table. We do realize that things could've changed since their opening month. read more

We really wanted to give this place another chance. Made a reservation for a party of four last night. Arrived, and we were promptly sat at our table at 6:15. Got up and left at 6:25 after not being acknowledged by a single person, and it's not like we were buried in some distant corner. We were 5 feet from the kitchen. Went down the street to another restaurant with comparable food and prices, where we were sat immediately, and within 10 minutes had drinks and appetizers delivered, and our entree order was taken. I want to support local businesses in La Mesa, but I can't justify dropping over $100 for a place that doesn't seem to want the business. read more

I want to start off saying that I work in the service industry and I never leave reviews. I have been going to Farmer's Table since I moved here five months ago and I will never be back. When we arrive we were quickly seat by the hostess. I would have sat at the bar but there weren't any seats. When our waiter, who never gave us his name, showed up to the table I could tell he was under some stress. I quickly reassured him that "Hey I'm in the industry, it's okay." He brought my guest and I our bottle of champagne promptly with glasses and juice and that was about the end of our good service. I asked three people including my server for a wine chiller before going to the bar and getting one myself. About 5 minutes passed before I saw the server again and he "took our order". About 20-25 minutes go by and our food still hasn't arrived at the table. I could understand if the restaurant was extremely packed ticket times can be long, but it was not and there were a couple of tables around us that were seated after us and got there food. So once I can get my servers attention because now he is avoiding our table I politely ask "How much longer on our food?" He responds with "What did you have again???" He then proceeds to spout out order that he has written done and none of them were what we ordered. The server then has the audacity to say with an attitude, "You could just tell me what you ordered instead of me doing this." My mouth hit the floor and I asked for a manager. The gentleman that I assumed was the manager was "too busy" to come talk to us, so a very nice young man who was waiting tables came to talk to our table. I explained what happened and he was very apologetic about the situation, but it gets worst. The server is now upset that he has made a mistake, and after he has somewhat of apologized and I responded back to him that "It was OK" he quickly turns around and says "Are you a perfect person? Have you never made a mistake in your life." My mouth is once again on the floor by the way he's talking to me as a guest. At this point he's so emotional that storms away and hits a gentleman at another table in the back of the head. When my food arrived it was still the wrong order but I was so scared to say anything after that. I felt threatened by the way he was acting toward me and just packed up my food and left. The server was completely out of line and I didn't post this yesterday when this happened because I was completely shaken up by the whole situation. Had dinner at this establishment Tuesday early evening. Our waitress was a Lady named Gigi. She made us feel welcome and we were part of her family. While looking at the surrounding areas of the restraurant, I would see Gigi taking care of Business and made sure that we understood what the plates were. Her recommendations were outstanding and if more restaurants had this lady working for them, they would be successful. My congratulations to the owners of this restraurant. You done well. Food was exceptional. Service was poor. Took us a half hour to get a glass of wine. Had to ask two times for a second glass of wine and it was another twenty minutes. Other tables around us were turned but our waiter was always disappearing. When the food came, it was hot and really good. The Decor is awesome. The drinks are pretty good, nice beer selection, staff is friendly but the 3 times we have been, it's been really slow service at a table. Quick to get a table, but rarely seen the server after. The bar service is great. The food is good, I wouldn't say fantastic or great, but definitely good. This restaurant continues to amaze. The food is excellent and so very fresh. We went there for Mother's Day dinner and has their special which included a large portion of stemmed mussels and clams in a wonderful broth. The scallops were equally delicious. Great restaurant with amazing decor. The restaurant looks small from the corner but is deceptively big interiorly. A group of us came here for lunch and it was surprisingly busy around 2 oclock. I ordered the pork belly flatbread, which took a while but was well worth the wait. Sat outside at the bar which was pleasant except for the smokers who lit up less than 5 feet from where we were sitting, particularly the owner or manager? Came to find out there is no service in that area of the outside bar. Found some menus. Ordered from bar tender. We got the risotto and flat bread. Risotto was a lump of cheesy goo with some delicious grilled vegetable very nicely plated. The flat bread was a poorly made pizza. Too doughy. Since this is the only happening restaurant in the neighborhood it is not surprising how busy it is. San Diego has so many outstanding restaurants. Unfortunately this is not one of them, yet. Great food and great service. Always packed. Large size wine glasses. I had the chillaquiles with green sauce eggs potatoes and watermelon. Yummy. My friend had the pecan crusted chicken sandwich which was so good with fries. I really loved the freshness of everything. The water comes in mason jars. Also, had pizza and a pasta dish at our table. Rosemary bread and butter was a great touch. Our server Katya was friendly and had great knowledge of the menu and specials.
