There are so many coffee shops in Eugene.  How to choose?  While sitting in the parking lot of the Owen Rose Garden, I perused on my phone.  How about Farmers Union?  People seem to like it, it's pretty close, and most importantly it's still open on a Sunday afternoon. Some things are just meant to be.  I tend to gravitate towards coffee roasters first, then to regular coffee shops after that.  Stating the obvious, excellent coffee can be found at either.  If I've never been to a coffee shop before, my usual order is a cortado (whole milk) and a drip coffee-black (or "no room", as some might say), even on a hot day.   The cortado was very good with the requisite latte art.  After I was done, I was still trying to sip the foam at the bottom, hoping for another taste.  I guess it was really very good.  I strayed from my usual order of drip coffee-black, and I got an iced coffee since I had been out in the sun for a bit.  Okay, yeah, I wimped out.  The iced coffee (La Pradera) was also very good. I went back to the counter and bought a bag of whole La Pradera beans to take home.  I have to admit, I also got a Farmer's Union t-shirt because it had an old school Godzilla.  I have no relation to the shop, really!

Tucked away behind some ivy and trees is the Farmers Union Coffee Roasters. Offering several custom designed coffees, drinks, and pastries both sweet and savory. Inside they're are several tables and chairs and can accommodate large groups. The private patio also has a few table and chair sets for up to 2 people each. Parking is available for free on the street or between the 2 buildings. There are a few other businesses in walking distance so stay a while and shop around.

If I lived up here, I would definitely come here every morning and have a great cup of coffee. Everything here was super yummy and I believe all house made. The coffee of the day was the Cultivator Blend. It was so flavorful, I enjoyed it black to savor the roast. Everyone working there were all so nice and personable. They were very open to making small talk, which I loved. I didn't think about it, but I should have picked up a couple bags of coffee while there. I figured that I wouldn't use it because I have a Bruvi and Nespresso at home. But now that I'm home, I realized that, I should have bought the coffee and then get a new machine! For sure when my child starts up school again next month, I'll have her send some to me.

The counter and a nice view of where the magic happens.

Super good artisan roaster in the heart of Eugene. Not only was the coffee excellent, the baked goods made for a wonderful breakfast as well. All ingredients are thoughtfully prepared and lean into healthy choices and home baked goods. My daughter had an iced latte with caramel and vanilla and loved it, and my more "purist" Cortado was rich and delicious. I also had the breakfast biscuit with chicken sausage, egg and cheddar and I could barely get my mouth around it. It was filling but the biscuit itself was flaky and unbelievably good in that way that homemade biscuits are. You can even choose between vegan biscuits and the buttermilk biscuit we had which is a nice touch. Truly recommend coming here before you head out to the bigger more well known mass market places.

I mean, I'll still eat it.

Ok the sandwich is bomb again but $17.50 for a sandwich and small cold brew?! Btw, Pacori's cold brew is hands down better. Coffee is really good but overrated.

Super cute coffee shop. They have a bunch of adorable decorations and machinery where they roast their beans. Vibes are great for catching up with a friend or studying. Their service is always great and the employees are friendly. The drinks and food generally come out pretty quickly. It's usually busy tho, so be prepared for a bit of a longer line at their peak hours. My go-to is an iced latte with their complimentary simple syrup. I'd say it is of the best lattes in town. My boyfriend always gets a matcha latte, and he ranks it among the top 3 in Eugene. I will note that the breakfast sandwich wasn't good -- I don't know if I just got unlucky the one day I got it or what but it was almost inedible. The biscuit was super dry and the egg and sausage were tough and hard to chew. I don't know if they put it in the oven for too long but I couldn't finish it after a few bites and had to throw the rest of it out

I would absolutely recommend this place it has a cool vibe here with indoor and outdoor seating. It's right on 5th street so on Saturdays come enjoy coffee and then hit up the Saturday Market. The service was very helpful and the drink was delicious

What a cute spot!! I LOVE trying new coffee roasters and ugh this one was so good! Syrups are made in house and well as the pastries. We got their Vanilla and Honey Latte with Oat milk and the sun-dried tomato basil and parm croissant and it was to die for! I can't wait to come back here when I find myself back in Eugene!

In town from Ca, Really enjoyed this coffee shop. Got a mocha, brownie and sausage biscuit sandwich. Brownie tasted like a cinnamon bread but overall loved the vibe and coffee!

What a cute place to stumble on. The vibes are so good and the servers friendly and the menu ... what happened to just a cup of coffee please . We enjoyed my spinach feta croissant and toasted biscuit with honey butter . Definitely coming back if we drive thru Eugene again

my favorite roaster in eugene! Here every chance I get to meet with friends, study, or work!

"True love is like little pink roses, sweet, and fragrant in small doses." Sipping, early morning dawn lighting spilling over the floor through large, yet unobtrusive windows facing W 5th Ave. The roar of espresso, steaming, wafting ahead. Chatter, chairs shifting, workers hustling, laughter. It was a delightful morning, created by a wonderful atmosphere, kind service and delicious coffee! Do try the Rose honeycomb latte...you will be amazed!

What is in your blue expresso sweet and salty yummy espresso drink?

Hello Wendy, I think you are are asking about our miso caramel latte. That's our house made caramel with miso, espresso, and the steamed milk of your choice. This is a seasonal drink and may not be around forever so please enjoy it while it's here!

Is there a kids play area? Can someone add a photo?

No. There's an outside area. But not a play area.

Not only did we use Yelp but we backed up our decision with a google search and that took us to Reddit. Equiano was a top suggestion on both sites. And we understand why. The service was 100% top notch. Helpful. Friendly and knowledgeable, not only about what they offered but about the regions best shops! The coffee itself was very expressive. The Camaroon was totally my style with an earthier tone and the Chai was delightful. The outdoor seating was so very comfortable with a unique sort of panache that I would love to have at my neighborhood coffeeshop. The raked gravel was a nice touch. And even though they didn't have indoor seating with the drizzly day, it was a highlight that I will be repeating in our future travels.

The service was friendly and they have a welcoming little space that doesn't feel too crowded and feels nice to linger in. BUT the thing I can't get past is the price. I thought maybe because they make many of their ingredients or because it could be organic or gluten-free or something that drives the cost up? But then I looked at other comparable places around town: also locally-owned and homemade-focused. CPR is still way more expensive! $7.50 for a 12-ounce mocha PLUS $1.25 to sub oat milk. That's $8.75 for a small drink. The most I can find alternative milk costing per drink is $0.75 in town. No matter how good your food is or how much you've put into it, I cannot justify spending $8.75 for a 12 ounce treat more than once or twice a year. I'm sorry I can't visit more often. :(

Their menu is pretty vegetarian friendly and they have pastries, breakfast options, smoothies etc. Price is on the higher side but I do think you get what you pay for. Also tried their seasonal lavender pistachio latte and the regular chai, both drinks were really nice.
