    Lunch!
    MaryLinda W.

Owners of a local business mentioned this establishment, among others in the area, as a good option for lunch, and we were not disappointed! The grill is a small town diner with tasty food. We started with iced tea, unsweetened for Hubby and a blend of sweetened and unsweetened for me. The special of the day was chicken fried steak with two sides, of which I chose mashed potatoes with gravy and green beans. Hubby chose off the menu, ordering an open face roast beef sandwich with gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans. The portions were generous and filled our hungry tummies. The homemade pies were tempting, but neither of us had room for dessert.

We were looking for a nice local Spot to take the family for lunch after a day at Elk Creek Hunt Club. We were a group of 8. We were greeted by the sweetest waitress. She was the most lovely server. I watched her make conversation with every person who cane in the restaurant door. Upon our Servers recommendation, I tried the special. It was delicious! Fried Chicken, two sides and a roll. In fact our whole table was delighted with their home cookin. So if you are in Owenton, a stop in the Farmhouse Grill will not disappoint.

Was coming into town for business and saw this spot for lunch. A co worker and I stopped. They had a daily special that was a great deal if I didn't have to drive. Catfish with two sides and a desert. I saw it served and it looked great! They also had salmon patties on special. I had a cheeseburger deluxe with fries. And a coke. Service was fast and attentive. The fries were spot on. I Ben had to bang on the ketchup bottle to get some. Lunch with tip was around 10 dollars. I will be back when I come back into town.

    Tenderloins on special.

Chicken salad was ok but sandwich was pretty plain - just salad on bread. Coleslaw was good. Nice servers. Hometown dining room was rustic.

This diner is pretty good. They have specials daily but its not the best in town. Prices are fair. Food is ok too.

We entered the restaurant absolutely starving, but once we saw they allowed smoking in their establishment we turn right around and left.

My wife and I were pretty excited about a new experience and a fun lunch. The place was disappointing to say the least. The servers weren't really friendly or outgoing. The value was severely lacking- a reported 5 ounce burger (looked small) and literally about 10 crinkle cut fries, a 12 ounce drink served in styrofoam and a vanilla malt to go costs us about $50. I tried to say thank you to the server on my way out but she was busy having a loud conversation with another employee and didn't notice me. There is outdoor seating on picnic tables. The menu has a variety of sandwiches like cod fish and a fried bologna plate. But most of the menu was different burgers with cute names. The web said they served breakfast all day, there was no breakfast menu on the table and we didn't ask. All in all I'm glad I went to satisfy my curiosity but I would not seriously recommend this place to people visiting Frankfort. You would get a better deal and probably service at Hardee's.

Only downside was I was hoping to order steak and eggs, but found out breakfast is only served on weekends, which I didn't realize ahead of time. One evening, we decided to try a local place, Kelly's Homestead Restaurant, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We walked in and found the restaurant fairly busy. After waiting at the entrance, the host simply asked, "How many?" then grabbed menus and walked off toward a booth without saying "Follow me" or offering any kind of welcome. She tossed the menus on the table and walked away--no greeting, no "Your server will be right with you," nothing. We sat for 15 minutes without a single server acknowledging us or taking a drink order. Looking around, we noticed other tables had drinks, but hardly anyone seemed to be having their orders taken. Eventually, we left and headed to Cracker Barrel, where both the service and the food were fantastic. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Kelly's Homestead Restaurant.

Arrived for my reservation, at lunch, and was seated immediately ( that is a plus - everything was looking good ). Waitress came to get drink order, only to realize she had failed to give us drink menu.Once that was resolved, drinks ordered and corn bread starter ordered. Cornbread delivered, drinks arrive. waitress was slow, kept saying she was new, she was tired, etc... Having been in the service industry, I understand, but not my problem. Here is when the meal went south... when we go to order, we are told no chicken, no steak. Only real options are the chicken and dumplings, sloppy joe, hamburger, meatloaf, ham or fish. Any other beef dish, or chicken dish is not available ( think half the menu ). Had we of known, before the drinks and cornbread, we might have left, as we had driven an hour for brisket and fried chicken. It was extremely disappointing. I went with the chicken and dumplings, as I don't eat fish, or beef, and can't eat pork products. I ordered a side of mashed potatoes and was told the chicken and dumplings came on a bed of mash - nope, apparently it does not. Expecting mash, I ordered carrots... guess what the chicken and dumplings come with carrots! So I got a bunch of carrots, no mash. The others in my party ordered the sloppy joes and both said they were okay, but not what they drove an hour to eat. In my opinion a restaurant, that is closed on Monday, should not be out of half of their menu items on Tuesday. I'd there are delivery issues, they had all day Monday to come up with alternate items, source other foods, etc.. Our waitress rarely came around, never offered refills, or asked how our meals were. At the end, she messed up our tickets so many times, that we finally just paid. I am no longer in a hurry to go to Local Feed and it will not be a place I drive an hour, to eat. To say it has gone downhill, is an understatement. PS - we spent roughly $175 (3 women, with drinks)
