I'm still a traditional polish gal (no gel or dip for me), but they do it all here! I usually bring my own polish, but they also have great in-house options including standbys like OPI as well as a niche brand or two, including the quick-drying vegan brand Dazzle Dry (a $10 add-on, but this stuff really does last). You'll never feel rushed here; when you arrive you'll be asked if you'd like a coffee, tea, or glass of bubbly. Every aesthetician here I've worked with has done an amazingly thorough clean-up job along with exfoliating and massage, and in particular everyone does an amazing job with my nail tips to the extent that I usually get a week's wear on my nails, which I keep pretty short and bang around on the regular. Practicalities: you'll want to make an appointment--they do book up, and chancing it on a walk-in might not be an option. And parking on the street and in the lot across the street is metered and it's close enough to the Port to be monitored, so don't skip paying up.

Front desk staff is always very warm and welcoming. This review, though, is about Zira, a Senior Colorist at Akari. I've known her for 8 years or so through Akari, initially when she was an apprentice. As a colorist Zira is warm, upbeat and patient, she is open to feedback, and in fact asks for it, and she's always fun to talk with!

One that included a massage, a facial, a manicure and pedicure and a wash and blow dryer so that I could enjoy my evening out. That is exactly what Akari had in store for me. I was a little hesitant because the reviews were kind of a mixed bag. But my spa day was 100% amazing. From the moment I walked in to my massage and the manicure may have been the best manicure I've ever had. The lunch was not served to me in a bag, but put on a beautiful tray with real utensils and served to me like I was a valued customer. Everyone was so kind and I'm hoping to return with my daughter for a special day before she gets married. Thanks for making my birthday very memorable.

For our food, the meat pie was so flavorful and fresh. My mom loved her eggs Benedict, and we split a blueberry pancake which was delicious. The homemade whipped cream and real maple syrup really topped it off great. I NEED to try the blueberry French toast or crepes so we will be back!! My only complaint was how busy it was. We made a reservation and we weren't seated until around 20 minutes after that time slot. Not a big deal, but there's really no good place to stand and we constantly we were in the way of other guests/servers. Anyone trying to walk in quickly left after hearing it was a 1.5 hour wait for a table so reservations are a MUST. We came on a weekend in October. Additionally, the room we were seated in was only heated by one small heater so it was pretty chilly. But totally worth it for the food! Staff was also very attentive and friendly despite how busy it was.

The coffee is quite strong! No refills were offered. They have a couple pages of breakfast items, served all day, plus a couple more pages of lunch/dinner and a page of drinks. They have a full bar. We ordered a hot cornedbeef sandwich, a two egg breakfast and a side of cornedbeef hash. None of the dishes were noteworthy. The hash was 'crispy' black. We popped a mint to get the taste out of our mouth after we ate so, that was our experience with the food here. Our waitress kept a good eye on us and brought a second dish of hash when I mentioned it was over cooked. The second one had the crispy black bits scraped off, so that must be how they cook it. She tried and I appreciate that. Ask for jelly if you want that on your toast, that is not kept on the table. It's a very cute, touristy spot to visit. There is a credit card surcharge. Restrooms are older with upgrades and clean. Staff are very nice. Parking is shared with the hotel and may be difficult to find a spot.
