Merriland Farm definitely lived up to the hype. We have heard nothing but good things and were not disappointed. To start, the mimosa flight was delicious! As was my mom's coffee. For our food, the meat pie was so flavorful and fresh. My mom loved her eggs Benedict, and we split a blueberry pancake which was delicious. The homemade whipped cream and real maple syrup really topped it off great. I NEED to try the blueberry French toast or crepes so we will be back!! My only complaint was how busy it was. We made a reservation and we weren't seated until around 20 minutes after that time slot. Not a big deal, but there's really no good place to stand and we constantly we were in the way of other guests/servers. Anyone trying to walk in quickly left after hearing it was a 1.5 hour wait for a table so reservations are a MUST. We came on a weekend in October. Additionally, the room we were seated in was only heated by one small heater so it was pretty chilly. But totally worth it for the food! Value: Portions were just right, food was solidly good but not great, service was great despite them being short staffed, I'd say just about on point/slightly overpriced. Other: It's a bit of a maze to find the hostess, you have to go around the back of the building, following half a dozen signs going through the restaurant to find it. We enjoyed breakfast on the patio on a picture-perfect July morning, along with our dog who was greeted warmly by the hostess and promptly served a nice bowl of water when we were seated. The staff was genuinely friendly, service was outstanding, and the food was fantastic! Hubby got the house hash omelet and enjoyed its spiciness, along with generous sides. I chose a pancake that was the size of a dinner plate and done just right--a bit crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The only bummer is a few bites tasted of onions and vegetables...ugh! Next time we're in Wells we will *definitely* go back to Merriland Farm, but I'll get tea bread (a baked good) instead of pancakes in order to avoid the whole griddle flavor transfer situation, which is NOT a knock on this restaurant; it's meant to be a helpful note for others with ARFID and/or on the spectrum with food/sensory issues. read more

They have a few seating options available: an outside patio, a "garden room" with high tops and bigger tables for groups, and a classic dining room area. The food was delicious and fresh! I'm pretty sure our experience was not the norm, since our server snuck us a muffin on the house. To me this is telling of a good establishment, filled with people who care. If you want to sit outside (worth it), make a reservation. The burger did not come out as ordered (med rare, came out near well) but that could've been because it tasted like it was cooked on an actual charcoal grill. Amazing food, great prices, and phenomenal vibes. We found Merriland Farm Cafe while looking for breakfast spots around Kennebunk. We wanted something quaint and outdoors, so this place was perfect. We made a reservation on OpenTable and arrived on time, on a Saturday morning. That's when we learned they get quite packed, so I totally recommend calling or going online to reserve a table. Even with a reservation, we had to wait around 15-20 mins to get a table. They seemed a bit understaffed, but even amidst the craziness the staff was friendly and attentive. The menu was quite extensive! We started our breakfast with their grilled blueberry muffin which was delicious. My partner and I both opted for the French Meat Pie Benedict and it was DIVINE. The eggs were cooked to perfection and the pie was so filling -- we left completely stuffed. It was so good. The coffee was also really good, and I appreciated the constant refills. I am so disappointed to have to leave this review, as a Wells resident and frequent visitor of this restaurant. I made reservations for brunch over a month in advance for my bachelorette party August 17. I confirmed with the restaurant, even though we were playing phone tag. I got a confirmation for my party of 12 on Friday morning. When we arrive to the restaurant the morning of August 17, not only were we told that we would not be seated, the rude hostess proceeded to blame it on me. Rather than apologize, she said that she had been trying to call me for weeks, argued with me, and made it seem as if it were my fault that they could not accommodate our party. I am so very disappointed with this lack of service. I understand extenuating circumstances, the hostess said that several cooks had quit. Because my group of bachelorette party attendees was all dressed up, we took a photo of the 12 of us and the person taking our picture said, "be happy you didn't get seated, we've been here for 2 1/2 hours and don't have our food." It sounds like a failing business to me. I called them to try to rectify the situation before leaving this one star review and no one ever returned my call. I would stay away! read more

Down a short winding drive, nestled in the woods just past the golf course on the right, lies a well known local cafe that I cannot praise high enough. Sundays are busy so you will need reservations, other days you can get a seat. Let me just say, that my experience was amazing. Walking up to the front, it reminds me of an old time farmhouse, which I later learned from the owner is what it used to be! I was greeted and seated promptly upon arrival. Service by my waitress was very fast, and she was very pleasant. I opted for the Italian Sausage and Pepper Omelette. This came with purple, pink and gold chefs style potatoes. I opted out of the toast for now bc trying to stay low carb. My meal was brought out quickly and smelled amazing. As I cut into this perfect omelette, I was very pleased to find a WHOLE Italian sausage split in half the length of my omelette. The onions, and green and Red peppers were fresh and full length. This is the heartiest, best tasting omelette I have ever eaten. The egg was flaky and light, the sausage e was cooked perfectly, while the peppers had that *snap that make them so good. The potatoes were right on point, seasoned perfectly. The cook obviously has a great palette and knows when it's just right. I decided to try the blue berry toast. (To heck with low carb today) I absolutely loved it. There was nothing left on my plate I can proudly say. This is no ordinary restaurant, it's open air feel is amazingly refreshing. On our last day of our New England trip, we came across this amazing restaurant, in what felt like the middle of the woods. We decided to order their Greek omelette and blueberry french toast, made with Maine blueberries. So glad we ordered only one savory dish as it was enough for two adults. One detail that I noticed (and appreciated) was that they reuse their crayons for the kids. Every time we go to a restaurant and our little one gets a kids menu, I feel like we're wasting so much in crayons. Crayola should offer half the size to restaurant owners, or do like this place did, and reuse them. Anyway, enough of side topic, back to the food. Greek omelette was huge and best of all, tasty. Their coffee was robust and it kept coming. Their French toast is the reason why we chose this place for breakfast in the first place. I had never tried Maine blueberries but they did taste different. Not as sweet and a little smaller than regular store-bought ones. The bread and compote was not very sweet, just the right amount of indulgence. Compote had ginger on it, which added a nice taste to it. No, it didn't taste like ginger, but somehow complimented the blueberries. Wish we had something like this in California, so we could indulge every weekend. We are locals and have enjoyed the food and service here in the past. Made a reservation online for 10:15, 3 people which was confirmed. Arrived at ten and told there was a wait. No problem. Shortly after a woman came up to hostess stand and insisted she had a reservation for 6 people, but she did NOT make an online reservation. She called and left a voicemail so her "reservation" was never confirmed. She proceeded to through a tantrum and insist they get her a table. The hostess explained they were also short staffed but she would try to get them a table. 10:15 comes around, and they call the party of six for their table. OUR reservation was confirmed, we were there on time, and they got to take our reservation because she threw a fit. Wont be coming back here unfortunately. read more

Four of us looking for a hearty meal as we all tried different but wonderful meals: Eggs Benedict for me (with mimosa!), veggie omelet (tons of fresh veggies with tri-color potatoes which were as tasty as they were colorful), blueberry crepes (with a wonderful sauce made from real Maine blueberries and not super sweet!), pancakes as big as a dinner plate -- so we shared trying their sugar-free syrup plus their flavorful local maple syrup! All scrumptious and beautifully served by our waitress Nikki who was professional and very attentive but not annoying. We loved the off-the-grid feel of being in a rural farmhouse - close but not on the main busy streets. The room we were in was cozy with pleasant music and friendly staff passing by at different times. The bad: we were sat about a foot from a door that was in constant use by staff and patrons. Towards the end of the meal, the hostess (who we think was also the manager) showed us a sign they had that asks people not to use the door. Would have been nice if they had bothered to put it out. We didn't even complain about the door but the hostess herself used the door, saying "oh didn't realize you were still here" (it was about 20 minutes after we were sat) and asked us specifically to not include mention of the poor seating on a review. We hadn't even thought about it but given the curious mention, we searched and see that others have complained about this, meaning she was well aware that the table position is a problem and yet placed the table incredibly close to the door, didn't put up the sign, and used the door herself. Sigh, this would have been 5 stars if not for this issue but we were constantly interrupted and I had to get up several times to close the door when others didn't bother. The good: the food is great. The stuffed French toast and breakfast poutine were fantastic! I would go back and order these every time. We also had n omelette with incredibly fresh veggies and a huge pancake. One of the best breakfasts we've ever had. The server was very nice and service was pretty quick once we were sat (but I'd did take a long time to be sat-- make a reservation!). Wow! I am obsessed with this perfect little brunch restaurant. I went to Merriland Farm Cafe on a whim with my boyfriend's sisters. We did not need a reservation because we got lucky but I will definitely be making one in the future! We were seated in the Garden Room which was so cozy and perfect. Outside the restaurant is so picturesque and the Garden Room was perfect for getting nice views. We started with mimosa flights! 3 mimosas for $12! And there are so so many flavors to choose from. I got apple cider (a seasonal special), blood orange (fav!!), and raspberry. They were all tasty and worth the money. I'm so excited to try other unique flavors next time we go. For my meal, I got the French Meat Pie Benedict and it was mouthwatering. The eggs were perfectly cooked and the meat pie was very authentic and delicious. I was very impressed with this unique take on a Benedict. Unfortunately, they are closed for the season now until March so I am super glad we stumbled upon Merriland Farm Cafe when we did!
