We arrived at 3:30pm, ordered our drinks and then our food. An HOUR LATER I asked the waiter where our food was and she said " Oops, we gave your food to another table and you will have to wait another 15 minutes We asked the manager what happened and he said " that's just the way it is" I then asked the dumb owner and he arrogantly said "well we have been in business for 40 years and we please most people " No " I'm sorry, let me make it right" This just reinforced how low iq and ignorant Portuguese people are. One of our friends introduced us to this restaurant. We must have driven by a thousand times and never noticed it. I've been holding off doing reviews because we've now been back at least half a dozen times. Instead of listing what we ate....at this point we've basically tried everything on their menu, including the seafood rice for 2 (really it's more like for 4). Not knowing anything about Portuguese wines, we've also tried both white and red wines at the waitress' recommendations - all good. Do make reservations on the weekend - it's not a big restaurant but I'm always amazed how the 3 of them took care of everyone without skipping a beat. I've been to Leao D'Ouro a couple of times for takeout. I like their Bacalhau a Bras (stir fried shredded cod, mixed with shoestring potato, egg and parsley). Flavors and serving size are good, more cod would be nice, considering the price. They allow only one person in the takeout area at a time. After putting your order and paying, they request people to wait in their vehicles until the order is ready. Plenty of parking available on the premises. Service is efficient. read more

Plenty of Portuguese places in Brampton - but nothing like this! Leao D'ouro has been our favorite's since a couple of different friends turned us onto it. Food is always a step up from the rest. It's hard to earn 5 stars from me, the food has to be amazing, this place deserved it. Not only the food, the service and the atmosphere....all great. From the time we arrived for dinner, service was amazing, considering the place was busy. They apologized to us for us waiting...we knew it was busy. Went tonight with a friend and her husband. Made a reservation for 3. The restaurant is cute, located on Dundas in a building by itself. Ample parking. Would be a nice first date place. The server was friendly. House wine which was quite good was $6.95 by glass. They have a substantial wine list. The food was great. Really liked the complementary tray of cheese, olives and bruschetta. I ordered Carne de Porco a Alentejana which is marinated cubes of pork, pan seared with clams, shrimp, white wine, garlic and coriander which was $22. Very very good. It comes covered in potatoes which were also very good. The portions were great. Overall I really enjoyed the atmosphere which was relaxed. We dined in in their patio. The setting was really nice. It was great that they had the whole outdoor patio blocked with pine trees and bushes to cover the roads for more privacy. The lady and guy who served us were pretty nice which is expected for a fine dining restaurant Atmosphere: this place used to be a bk and I can't get that out of my head Food: overpriced garbage. This restaurant was highly recommended to us and we were excited has we are also Portuguese... we were all very disappointed - the waiter looked miserable, the food had no taste and surprised that i got serviced french fries with a 26.00 entrée. Went for lunch with the family on Sunday. We had a reservation. Place was clean and looked nice on the inside. There was also a large party that came after we had been seated, they were not disruptive and it was fine. I started with the Shrimp Bisque soup which was great. On the table was olives, several styles of bread, white cheese, as well as an olive oil onion spread which was very good. My main was the grilled halibut with risotto which was grilled perfectly. There were a few of my family members that ordered the Beef a casa and they confirmed that it was cooked perfectly. I wish the service would be slightly more attentive as they needed a reminder on a couple of occasions for more drinks and bread etc. This may have been a result of the large party, but nonetheless, service was OK. All-in-all I think the experience was good from start to finish and I will consider again. read more

Had my daughters birthday party here with along with her cousins had about 40 people...the food was great. However the service was something I will never go back for. It seemed like my table was forgotten about..each time I wanted a drink I had to go and ask the bar for something. At one point my table was completely dry for an hour. My guest were not sure why we had no service at our table but our other tables did. At one point my guest asked if I put a cap on drinks and coffees. Asked me if I was being cheap...at the end of the night our bill was over $3500.00 and my table left thirsty. However my sister in laws tables were fully taken care of....I wonder if it was cause we were not portugues??? Ok so I'm not sure why everyone is saying the food is so good here, my boyfriend who is Portuguese, was really looking for a good Portuguese restaurant, since the one we used to go to all the time moved locations. The menu looked really nice and had everything we where looking for, however when the food came out it was pretty bad, over cooked, and not very tasty. I ordered the salted cod in olive oil which is usually my favourite, but they gave me the tail of the fish so I couldn't eat half of it, and it was terribly over cooked, my boyfriend thought his was over cooked also he was not impressed at all, and we haven't been back since. Maybe we will give it another shot since we are still looking for a good Portuguese restaurant close to oakville. read more

Other than going to Portuguese Chicken places this is the first time that I have visited an authentic Portuguese Restaurant. I know people may say that there are better places out there but based on my experience this is the place to be for Portuguese cuisine. We were a large group there for a birthday party which was great but the only down fall is that we had a set menu and were not able to order off the regular menu. Our evening started off by bringing appetizers spread around the table. We had shrimps, muscles, chorizo, cheese, olives, calamari, shrimp and beef patties. The apps alone would have been enough they were amazing especially if you are a fish eater. After that we had a choice of soup or salad and when it came to main courses we had 5 or 6 options to choose from. I had the beef du casa. that is basically a steak grilled and topped with a sunny side up egg covered in gravy and of course homemade potato chips on the side. Let me tell you it was amazing. my meat was a little tough and overcooked but super tasty none the less. I would really want to give 4.5 stars as they don't deserve to loose a full star just cause my meat was a bit tough and because it was overcooked. I will be visiting this place very soon and ordering off the regular menu. I really look forward to it. read more

This place was excellent. We went on a Saturday night in Aug, around 5:30 and it was pretty packed--several big tables of families. Our group had the octopus appetizer, the grouper, and the cod w/egg, potato, and parsley. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. The fish was super fresh, the cod dish was large enough to split, and the octopus was definitely the highlight of the meal. The setting is nice enough for a date but also not so formal that you feel like you couldn't bring your family. Dining room has lots of light and is a pleasant place to eat. Nice wine selection. Parking is easy. They also offer a takeout menu with chicken, and nightly specials. I ended up at this place because I was outnumbered by my friends who wanted Portuguese food. I'll make this brief, the BBQ chicken was really good but that was it. I did not enjoy my chocolate desert or the service. On a more positive note...a friend was feeling a bit brave and had the grilled Octopus (eww tentacles) but they loved it and so did everyone who sampled it. My family has been to Leao D'Ouro a few times now because the food is very good for the value, so we decided to go there with the rest of the family before the grandparents left for Portugal. It was a Saturday night and there were 18 of us and we all left with the same thought; the food was mostly good but the service was horrible. We made 3 separate orders of wine before we chose one that was in stock. The restaurant should think of updating their wine list, or inform the waiters which bottles are out of stock. When pouring the wine, the waiter would spill droplets all over the table and on us. He either didn't notice or didn't care enough to apologize. I wasn't having wine that evening and I now have a red wine stain on my blouse. The waiter never came around to ask us if we were ok with our drinks, wanted another or if we were enjoying our meals. The manager was also nowhere to be found. Typically managers of a restaurant will come around to check on a table, especially large parties. I guess they don't care if you're enjoying your evening or not. When it came time to ordering dessert it all went further downhill... The majority of the table ordered the chocolate mousse. The waiter began serving our dessert orders, distributing only 2 orders of mousse, returned to inform the rest of the table that they were out. The children who ordered the mousse and were not able to have it were upset at the 2 people at the table that were served the mousse. They were also upset to see the table beside us receive orders of chocolate mousse later. The waiter should have either informed us beforehand that they were out, or he should have let us know that there were only 2 orders of mousse left and so that we could decide who would have it. The other dessert item that we ordered was the Natas Do Ceu. Luckily they had enough to fill our order, unfortunately 3 of them were were raw and runny and had to be sent back. I've had the Natas Do Ceu there before, I know how it should taste and what the texture should be like. We replaced them with 2 orders of chocolate cake and cheesecake. I realized there was Crème Brule on the menu, and asked the waiter to change the order, and he rolled his eyes at me! He returned with chocolate cake and told me there was no more Crème Brule. To top it all off, HE CHARGED US for the three Natas Do Ceu that we sent back. I don't understand why our table was treated this way, the meal went on one bill we didn't complain nor gave him a difficult time for the quality of the service which he provided us with. We were looking forward to that evening and it's unfortunate that our expectations were not met. I would not recommend having a large party at this restaurant. read more

Our friends took my wife and I there for Dinner tonight. Although the food was good the service was terrible. Our server spilled a glass of water on me and I sat through my meal soaking wet. I ordered a Caesar Salad as a starter that I never got. I suggest people keep looking and dine elsewhere. read more
