Been here with a regular and treated like gold came back a few time with out him. Wow!! Treated like pure sheeet. Food outstanding Sean the bartender not sure why he is an angry individual. Good food, very good wings, but ppl at bar are rude , always forgetful and always miss something. Always way too expensive for the overall experience. I mean if I'm spending 125 and I have to say how the hell did we get there I think that's a problem. Went there yesterday for late lunch and drinks. This place did not disappoint. Service was exceptional (Danny and Michele), bartender made an amazing dirty martini and the food....NOT YOUR TYPICAL BAR FOOD. Wings were amazing and the steak sandwich was so freakin delicious. This bar is horrible. I've never had a worse cheeseburger in my life and the wings were bad as well. Burger was well done when I asked for medium rare. The wings were dry and small. My wife ordered the turkey club and there was zero bacon...on a turkey club! LOL! Way way way Way overpriced for such feeble food. And the waitress Couldn't care less about our issues. Brought our beer, disappeared, brought our food, disappeared, and when she finally came back to bring the check (without us even asking. What if we wanted to drink more?) we told her about the problems and she said "that sucks" and put our check down. Oh and the place was very very loud. Went there last Thursday for the buy one get one burger special. I think the regular price for their burgers is a little high, but for buy one get one they were very good. They had a pretty decent lunch crowd. Good selection of beers on tap. Bartender, who was also the server for lunch was terrific. Perhaps I'm just not experienced with bar crowds and weekend hangs, but this place was an absolute blast. All the things I never do, I finally just decided to do; come out, have a few drinks, talk to a "girl," dance and enjoy what must be a normal weekend activity for many people. And you know what? I had a blast! The band was excellent (Rock Stars from Mars) and they played every song that this crowd wanted to hear. And with luck the beautiful woman I locked eyes on as soon as I arrived and chatted with for hours will want to go on a date with me and who knows what. The food here is better than your average bar food especially in the town of west islip. However, that being said their ridiculous prices are insane. Farrell's had a smaller variety on their menu, but decent. I got a "Philly" cheesesteak that came with fries, coleslaw and pickles. They do have a bar you can sit at as well. I just think it's typical bar food. I'm from around Philly and their cheesesteak was no where close, it wasn't good at all AND it was the smallest cheesesteak I've ever had. I can't believe I paid that much for it. Their fries were okay - nothing special about it. But I do think that their pickles were delicious. Which you do have to tell her you wan't them because she won't bring it out to you. She was no where to be found when I was here, and there was barely anybody here on the Wednesday evening that it was. It was ridiculous. That was the only time I'll ever go there. Bar / Pub. I have to admit, I had an absolute blast in here. I never heard of the place but some friends of mine told me to meet them here and I'm glad I did. Large bar and outdoor area are the main focus and some tables along the wall and up the middle - the night I was there they had a large live band playing and everyone was dancing. Excellent bartenders and very good food- plus the aforementioned band- made it a great place to try. The crowd seems to be pretty regular and on the older site- no douche-bags which was fine by me. I have lived in West Islip for 30 years. Farrell's has always been a fun place with live bands and has done a lot for sports teams and fundraisers over the years. I road by today and saw their sign outside to order-to-go or delivery. My husband and I were thinking about lunch and said, "why not..." He got the Farrell burger with cheese and bacon. It comes on a homemade pretzel bun, cooked how you like. I got their sliced steak sandwich with melted mozzarella on a toasted garlic hero. Both came with fries and were exceptional! This place was on Higbie Lane in West Islip and was surrounded by next to nothing. The thing about Islip is that there is no nightlife, so when you go out to Farrell's, you're staying at Farrell's. It's a free standing building which basically looks like it doesn't belong there. However, their older crowd was loving it, so good for them. The second I walked in I really couldn't wait to leave because it was a relatively small bar, and the music you could hear from across the street, in your car, with the windows closed, and your own music blasting. So, why two stars? Stella and Blue Moon on draft, and I'm sure if there wasn't the loudest band in creation there, I would have liked it more. Plus, they do have a Taco Tuesday which I still need to try out. Perhaps a few more stars if I give it another chance. read more
