I recently moved back to the area and boarded my two very small, senior dogs for 5 days at Farrington in Dec 2019. They allowed me to bring their own bedding which was returned to me washed, at no additional charge. They also allow you to bring your own food and are very accommodating with refrigerated food, and heating up food if you need, at no additional charge. My dogs were there for 5 days and were clean and calm when returned to me which is unusual for any kennel. Every time I've been there it is clean, quiet and not chaotic. The dogs seem in good spirits and well cared for. I read some negative reviews here and feel they are unfair. Most boarding kennels require appointments for tours, and are closed to pick ups and drop offs on some days or during certain hours. Some dogs will become very nervous when left anywhere and unfortunately they'll injure themselves trying to escape. Not necessarily the fault of the facility. If your dog is nervous like this you should have an in-home pet sitter. This is a traditional boarding facility and they do not provide "free range"open kennel, non- traditional boarding, so the neighbor who complained that the dogs are locked in the kennels all day obviously doesn't understand that is exactly the service provided here. I actually want my dogs safely "locked down" while I'm away, with no contact with other dogs. I'm a life-long dog parent and have used many boarding kennels over the years and have been very satisfied with Farrington. read more

My boyfriend and I left our dog in their care for 5 days and it might have been the biggest mistake. Our dog is a very hyper husky who's always happy and jumping around but after we have picked her up, she's exhausted, doesn't get off the couch, and even has quite a large bump on her nose. There was even a scab that wasn't there when we dropped her off. We also knew she would smell bad once we picked her up but they sprayed some sort of dog cologne on her to mask the urine smell. We will never trust this establishment with our dog and neither should you. Our dog is literally traumatized from this experience. read more

I boarded my 9 yr old lab and 13yr old springer for three days at the beginning of October. It was an awful experience for my elder dogs who are our babies and are always indoor. Now my lab has lost 8pds and has been diagnosed with diabetes. It was so stressful for them both. If you have elderly dogs that live indoors and not concrete floors that are hosed down 3 times a day this is not the place to accommodate them. And if they are not use to the noise , it is so bad. It will change them and stress them. Beware and tour the facility first. read more

Our two big black dogs actually run in the door, they are so happy to see this kennel! ( I think they like the food better than ours..)They have optional exercise periods, and grooming,too. We are glad to make the 20 minute drive from our house , because we know our dogs will be happy and well cared for while we are away. read more

This is a great boarding facility. I boarded my dog here for a week when our local kennel was booked. I will never go back to my old kennel. The facility is clean, the staff are very friendly, and the grooming services that we scheduled were expertly done. All in all, I was very impressed. read more

I've been boarding my dog here daily while I go to work for the past 4 1/2 years. This is his home away from home and he loves it here.

If I could give this place no stars I would. I took my dogs there many times but on their very last stay I was so upset by what happened that I would never, ever leave my dogs there again. Basically my little dog tried to dig her way out of the outdoor metal fenced area, but ended up tearing all the hair and skin off her back. When I picked her up they actually denied even knowing about it, although the vet told me the wound was at least a few days old. And when they realized that they should have known, they suggested that my other dog may have bitten my little dog. This was clearly not a bite (and my other dog adores this dog!)They never said sorry, or took any responsibility for what happened. The vet bill was $150.00 to clean it up, antibiotics, salve etc. The place is not expensive but they really don't pay any attention to your dogs while there. Beware! read more

I have boarded my Borador at Farrington Kennels for the last ten years. He has been left for weeks at a time when I was required to commute to LA.. There is no way to moniter what happens to a dog inside a kennel when you leave the premises. The only testimony is how the dog reacts when he returns. Every time, my dog runs into the kennel, wagging his tail, excited to see the staff. That's the best testimony one can hope for when leaving a treasured family pet. read more

Our dog loves it at Farrington. As soon as we pull in the driveway she gets excited. They have a friendly staff and are very good with our spazzy dog. We can tell they play well with her because she's better at playing ball after she comes back. She's a short hair and doesn't need grooming but she's clean and nice smelling when we pick her up Reasonable prices, too! read more

I love bringing my dogs here when I go away. My big dog and my chihuahua get to kennel together ( which is nice cause they crate together.) Their rates are better than most other places and they are close to my house. Unfortunately my big dog knows that if we show up there that she isn't going to see me for a few days. She sleeps at the foot of my bed so I know she misses me. They are always well taken care of here! read more

I took my doodle in to be groomed. I asked for a puppy cut on a 4mo old. When I arrived back to pick up my dog I was shocked to see a completely shaved dog emerge. The person at the desk appeared to be on a personal call and could have cared less at our surprise. My dog was not matted, I brushed her daily. I will never return. read more

I had my dear dog there for an extended stay. There is something very odd about how, you think your dog is going to be put into one of the large grassy runs in the front as you go in. But that's apparently not where they put the dogs being boarded. And, they will not show you the actual place where your dog will stay. And this of course, is after you have made the reservation, based on your initial visit to the place and your assumption that of course your dog is going to stay in the wonderful runs that surround the place. So there you are dropping off your dog on the way to the airport. They horse you around, telling you that you can only see the kennel on Tuesday, or something. Of course it isn't Tuesday on the day when you're standing there. It seems to me, the kennel should be clean and available for inspection at all times during working hours. I really felt uncomfortable leaving my dog there, and I've never been back. Also, when I picked up my dog, they said accusingly, that my dog was messy. Messy??. They are clearly not on the up and up with the customers. And I wonder if anyone has ever actually seen where the dogs being boarded are kept. The experience was not good. read more

We've been taking our Mastiff mix here for over a year and we couldn't be more pleased with the facilities, staff, cost and how they treat our pup. For the Bay Area, the simplicity of the kennel costs is appreciated. You do pay extra for time out of the runs, but it's still the best combination of quality and affordability we've found. read more

Dropped by to check it out unannounced and they seemed very uncomfortable by me being there. Wouldn't let me past the office. Then I asked about a Saturday night stay and they said I would have to leave my dog Friday and pick her up Monday. Ridiculous! Don't most people leave town on the weekend??? Don't bother going here for boarding, clearly they are all about the employees comfort and not about customer service. read more

Our dog loves the food this place provides. He's not happy being "anywhere" away from home but at least here we know he is safe and well cared for. They will provide your dog a sleeping pad for a small extra cost, they don't want you to take in your dogs bedding, which is fine with us as our dog comes home without fleas. When we were on an extended trip earlier this year, he was groomed and happy when we picked him up, what more can you ask for. Only wish they were open on weekends also, then they'd get 5 stars. read more

Our normally nervous dog loves Farrington. It is fantastic value but not for you if you expect yoga or massages for your dogs! Great for my dog who does not like other dogs as the accommodation is separated from other dogs. We have used these kennels for extended stays and weekend breaks. Highly recommend! read more

My dog won't be going back, he was sick when he came home had issues with his paw pads and a nail, where the vet thinks he was scraping to get out. Now I know he is no angel, but I had asked when I left him there if he was to stressed out to please call and I would have him picked up. Told he did great. Yes I agree with others should be able to see where your pet is staying they will not let you pass the office. read more

I've been boarding my dogs at Farrington for over 20 years. My dogs always go there happy and come back happy. If they're happy, I'm happy. This is a basic boarding facility that offers playtime and bathing (both for an additional fee) so that your baby can go home clean and smelling lovely. They do offer sleeping pads for the dogs. The staff here are nice and very responsible. Pricing is very affordable. read more

Do not bring your dog here!!! They said my dog bite a worker there after he fed him. My dog has never been aggressive to anyone. He was boarded at a different kennel several times before and not once did they ever say he was aggressive to anyone. Now I have to pay a $100 quarantine fee because of them and there is record of my dog biting someone. Also, my dog's tail was bleeding at the tip and they didn't do anything about that either. His claws were worn down, probably from pacing back and forth, feeling very uncomfortable there. read more

Good, clean, comfortable place for our dog to stay when we travel. She always comes home tired, but well cared for. The prices are are wonderful and the grooming is great. We never worry about our dog when we leave her here. read more

The front desk woman was incredibly rude. She didnt waste time for pleasantries with my dogs. She grabbed their leashes and walked with them as fast as possible to who knows where (she told me nothing). One of my dogs is 13.5 years old and was literally being drug, she could hardly keep up. I followed her, was told to stay in office. I wanted to see where they were going, and I got a tour of a couple runs (it was clear I was really asking for too much), but then had to go back to office while they took my dogs to their runs. I asked if I could see their runs, and she made it clear it wasnt protocall and that i was inconveniencing them. I don't know, the whole thing was weird and not comfortable. My dogs are my family members, I expect the people caring for them to actually CARE. a simple, "hi sailor" would have sufficed. Maybe a little pet, is that too much to ask? Before you run off with her and drag the geriatric one off into no mans land? I promptly asked for my dogs back and left. forgoing a romantic getaway with boyfriend :( read more

On my dog's third visit she got hurt very badly. First visit, no problems. Second visit, came home with diarrhea (attributed it her nerves) decided on a third visit. My mistake. Dropped her off Friday night. Got a call Saturday morning that they found her with a wound on her chest/shoulder about an "inch by inch". They took her to the emergency vet. Turned out to be a 3"x3" wound about 2 inches deep according to the vet. She had to have sugery to debride the wound and 3 layers of stitches (due to the depth of the wound). They think she tore her skin on something in the kennel but say they couldn't find anything she could have gotten caught on. While they acted quickly and got her to vet...it is not something you want to have happen. I think I might have actually felt better if they could tell me how it happened. A nail sticking out, a jagged piece of wood or fence. There has to be something there...but they can't find it. Doesn't make me feel better. I did come home early but could not get a flight right away so she had to stay two more nights. When I finally got a flight I had to pay A LOT extra for the flight change. Could not enjoy the trip while I was there. I have had to take time off work now that I am home to keep her from messing with the wound. Yes, she has an e-collar on but she can scratch the area (and does). So while they paid the emergency vet bill it is costing me a lot more than her kenneling should have; with extra airfare and lost wages. I know I won't risk taking my dog there again. read more
