I found out about Revive from a Facebook suggested page. I was surprised there was a thrift store…read morein downtown Ephrata that I knew nothing about considering I'm up there frequently. As per their Facebook page they are described as the owner had a dream to purchase property, have her own store, and provide affordable housing to women in need. This store is considered for profit, however she states that she uses the funds to renovate the upstairs apartments in hope to help women escape bad relationships by providing affordable housing options. I support her vision. I was lucky enough to visit the store a few weeks before Christmas when the parking meters were covered. Normally there's a fee for street parking however I'm not sure if it's because of the season or covid that street parking was free. It's a bit hard to secure downtown and difficult to back out of since the spots are slanted but not impossible. Inside the store has an overwhelming amount of stuff. Not quite hoarder level but there's alot to take in. The property is a series of small rooms, you walk thru one to get to another, with lots of nooks and crannies. It is a challenging space to set up for retail and she does what she can to make it organized. It is hard to walk thru some areas and definitely leave the stroller and big handbag at home! Some areas have nice displays and she does have a good eye for showcasing more precious items. Overall there's every department that a larger thrift store would have, just separated a bit. What surprised me was everything was yard sale prices - like .50 cents and a $1! While some of the clothing items were dated I did find some nice kids pieces that I couldn't leave without for .50 apiece! Many of the house and glasswear pieces were vintage and still priced at yard sale prices. I honestly don't know how she makes any money. On the porch was a free clothing pile which I didn't investigate. The owner was very friendly and let you walk around and explore on your own without being intrusive, but was available to help if you needed her. They are cash only so be sure to bring some and definitely allow yourself some time as this is not an in and out kind of shop. Worth adding to my thrifting rotation whenever parking is available.

Having been to their old store which featured mostly furniture and books this newly opened version…read morein a completely new building is quite impressive. Not only do they still feature furniture but now they sell clothing and housewares as well. Please refer to my photos of all the different departments and example of merchandise. The inside is bright and spotless. The isles wide and the departments separated. All the merchandise was organized and displayed very well. The dishes and glassware shined like it had all been freshly washed. I dare you to find a spec of dust in this place. The employees or volunteers that work here take pride in their store and sorting process and it shows. Everything was in remarkable shape and fairly priced. Many items were only .50! Two things that prevented me giving them a 5 star review - the ladies clothing felt matronly and not current, although organized very well and all of decent quality. Some of it was new with tags and had more than one like it was donated by a local retailer or manufacturer. Secondly with Halloween only a few weeks away it was surprising (especially given their abundance of Christmas decor items) that there were no Halloween displays or merchandise other than a small selection of costumes (literally less than a round rack worth). I don't know if it's a religious thing since this is a Christian based organization but do feel like they should have offered more. Wish they were closer but it looks like I'll have to make trips to Ephrata more often.

In our final fitting, my mother and MOH looked at each other, completely overwhelmed of how to help me into my dress on the big day, and with five days before the wedding, my mom asked to hire her as our day-of concierge/assistant, and Michelle dropped everything to help! With an affordable price for her service, her presence was not only outstanding, it was invaluable. We didn't realize how much we needed her until the big day came. While myself as the bride was pretty cool as a cucumber, my mother was (for lack of a better word), a hot mess. Michelle not only took care of my needs (and thought of everything), but made sure my mother was calm, cool, and collected so she could enjoy the final moments of getting ready. Michelle came fully equipped with an arsenal of tools, a steamer, and such an amazing personality. She thought of all the small details, assisted the photographers and fluffed my dress as needed. She was prompt, friendly, helpful, kind, understanding, and all the things. Her alterations were stunning and I felt so comfortable and like a queen on my big day. She was there for all the moments and all the details, ensuring the ladies and men were properly ready to walk down the aisle and party at the reception. She is a dear person that felt like family that day. Would recommend her and will go back for other wardrobe design needs.

I had earmarked…read moreanother thrift store a few doors up called Revive and while walking there I stumbled upon this one. The window displays were nice and festive, and since the metered parking was bagged off and free it left me time to explore. Inside an older couple at the register greeted me warmly. I'm assuming this is their store. However the horrid smell of unknown origin smacked me in the face. I can't even find the words or anything to compare it to. It nearly took my breath away and lingered throughout the store. The store had some displays but nothing as nice as the windows and for the most part was set up utilitarian with merchandise on racks and shelves. Everything was used for sure. I'm not sure if they are a for profit thrift store or a consignment shop, but I got the impression that inventory isn't rotated often. They could definitely use some help with visual merchandising. I browsed through the children's clothing and did see a few nicer pieces but the majority was dated and had signs of wear. I felt pricing was very high for the quality with most single pieces priced $4.90 or higher for Walmart brands. With the exception of the cheaper items in the back everything was priced ending in .90 cents. Exploring the store further I did find some inventory on racks and shelves with yard sale prices - .50 cents to $1.00, etc. For most of these items it was obvious why things were priced so low. I did find a few vintage hand towels in perfect condition in one of the .50 cent bins that looked better than any of the higher priced linens on the racks. Departments were small and most of the store square footage was roped off in the back. They had a few larger furniture pieces that were decent but expensive for what they were. Aside from clothing, yarn was the second largest section with tons of mostly opened or loose yarns. Housewares were very skimpy. I did see a nice pair of boots (see pic) but nothing else was worth a second glance. The clerks however were very nice. They had a makeshift shield up made of plastic wrap and duct tape, it didn't look nice but at least they made the effort. They also had hand sanitizer at the register. I'm really surprised considering the location in downtown Ephrata that they draw enough business to pay the rent in such a desirable location. I could not wait to get out and escape the smell. Normally the parking is metered on the street but for whatever reason the meters were bagged and free. Not sure if it's because of the season, the weekend, or covid. It's a main road in the heart of downtown. The spaces are slanted so you need to back out which is hard to do with such heavy traffic. However there's lots of cool little shops over 2 blocks that are easily walk-able and worth checking out.
