I had a lamp that would not turn on... changed the light bulb three times and tried two different outlets. Nope, still no light. What's a girl to do?! Well, my lamp is a super unique lamp that matches my decor perfectly and therefor was irreplaceable. Long story short, I called around a few lamp places and was told to go to Fashion Lamps. The staff were super friendly and seemed to be a family owned and operated kinda place. The fixed my lamp in a few days time. They had to replace the cord and dimmer switch which, apparently, is kinda pricey. They charged me $50 so I have no idea is that was a rip-off or a good value as my dealings with lamp repairs had been nonexistent to the point! read more

I was very disappointed with my experience. The lamp took a long time to get back, and instead of repairing it in-house, they outsourced it to another company. When it was returned, it wasn't repaired to the standard I expected, and there was even a chip on the base that exposed the silver under the gold finish. To make matters worse, the lamp was "repaired" so badly that I can't even attach the lampshade anymore. After spending both time and money, it simply wasn't worth it. The only star that I'm giving this place is for their adorable dog. Fashion Lamps is a graveyard for lighting fixtures. I dropped my cool new chandelier to get fixed. Even horror films start out nice... Now, here we are 3 months later. I called them at least once a week for months. This often resulted in me being put on hold, voicemails not returned, or having no one answer. I shudder to think about how much time I wasted following up with them. It's probably been 15 times I've spoken to them at least. They never once called me back. I've heard things like "I forgot", "we don't check our voicemails", "we had customers in the store and got busy". Their staff come up with better excuses than a teenager trying to sneak out at night. "Parts on order". That's what they kept saying. After several weeks of this runaround, the owner Jay gave me his cell phone so I could get in touch with him more directly. No matter, multiple conversations with him and still... nothing. Finally I told him after 3 months I'm coming to fetch back my chandelier. Guess what? They also lost a part I dropped off with it. Jay couldn't find it hunting around for a few minutes and at that point even their dog couldn't console me on the way out. The same lamp that ran me over $100 in "repairs" needed the same repair. Intent on never going to Fashion Lamps, I took it this time to another place ... and they fixed it for LESS THAN $5. I didn't have the heart to tell them exactly what I paid last time, except to say that it was a lot, and they laughed out loud and told me "whoever fixed it before ripped you off bad ... and didn't even fix it well." When I named Fashion Lamps, the lady behind the counter laughed and said "we hear that about them all the time." I told them the repair from Fashion Lamps didn't last, and that apparently didn't surprise them either. Their parting line: "I bet you never go to their place again." They're right. read more

I called about a lava lamp base that was on the fritz. They said their average repair was under $50. They replaced a cord and socket and charged me $80. The eBay seller I bought it from was furious. He said that something like that shouldn't have cost more than $40. Just letting you guys know so this doesn't happen to someone else! read more

Unethical, Robbery! Do not have anything done at this store before you ask the price! Two very nice employees who work at this store, offered to cut my lamp cord, reattach my switch and plug while I waited. This task took no more than 5 minutes. They unfortunately asked the owner how much they should charge me after it was completed...$45. He was taking advantage of the fact that it was completed and couldn't be undone. I will never step foot in there again. Usually go to lamp store in Richardson where they are wonderful but thought I would give local shop the work (since I owned Paper & Chocolate I know how much I appreciated customers which he apparently chooses to take advantage of) I will never again buy anything here and I suggest you get a firm quote before you have any work done. Actually "0" Zero Stars. This shop and its owner, Jay Arthur, have the WORST customer service I have EVER encountered. In July 2017, I took two lamps in to be repaired and he assured me they would be done in six weeks. After that time, I checked in and he said he needed to find a new supplier and would need an additional three weeks. I have called him repeatedly since. He does not answer my calls or return my messages. This has been going on for A YEAR!! I have never encountered such poor customer service in all my life. I have submitted complaints to NBC 5 in Dallas as well as the Dallas branch of the BBB. This store does not deserve your business. Take your repair to Royal Lamps, they at least know how to treat their customers. read more

This husband and wife team are the biggest bunch of buffoons I've seen running a business in a LONG time. They should've retired more than a decade ago. I hired them 2 months ago for two things. I needed a new base on one lamp and a new white oval shade for another lamp. I was told two weeks. After a month went by and I hadn't heard anything, I called to ask the status. After a week trying to reach them, the guy asks for my ticket numbers and says he'll call he with an update. Two days go by and no call. I call back and he says he needs my ticket numbers which I'd already provided. He says the new lamp shade is in and that my repair would be done in a week. Two weeks go by and no word. I call yesterday, which is TWO MONTHS past the drop-off date and he says I can pick everything this afternoon. I show up this afternoon and the shop is empty and my lamp that was suppose to be finished is sitting in a corner of his work bench still in the state I brought it in. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED. read more

Fashion Lamps is a wonderful shop! Not only were they super friendly and helpful, they did great work on my favorite, heirloom lamp. Looks and works now perfectly. I can't say enough good things about this business. I am a lamp aficionado (looove lamps!) and I think they have a nice inventory of interesting lamps & shades. Had a vintage hurricane lamp that was super difficult to rewire myself,i searched yelp and found this place,i went in a week before christmas and they tole me it might be ready by new years...the day after christmas it was ready! i was so surprised. they quoted me a price after they examined the lamp and pointed out what would cost what and i told the guy i could do the rest and he gave me hints and advise...i mean wow you dont find service like that anymore. This is the best lamp shop in Texas most likely and they have hundreds of shades to choose from and lots of chandeliers and lamps the employees are awesome they are very friendly and helpful my Italian lamp wouldn't turn on so I came here and they fixed it in a week days super fast and it was as good as new when they finished it I really really recommend this place to lamp repairs or lamp shopping read more

I love this store. The owners are very helpful and honest. I've bought several shades and a few lamps and have always been very happy and satisfied with my purchase. They have a great selection - lamps, shades, finials, prints and more. I'm giving them five stars because they have been so great on lamp repairs. I have a favorite lamp that my new kitten loved to stretch on and knock over. I took the lamp in and the owner tried several bases to try to weigh the lamp down. He spent several hours working on the lamp and created a base that worked perfectly. He really cared about solving my problem and then only charged me a small amount. This is just one example of the wonderful service I've received at this store through the years. Wish we had more stores like this run by such a good family! read more

The employees who work at Fashion Lamps are very friendly and helpful. Because the store is small there's not much room for lampshades but the ones they have are good quality. And they have a nice selection of finials. HOWEVER...if you want a lamp made in a timely manner, don't go here. I took 2 vases in to have Fashion Lamps make custom bases and turn them into lamps. It was a total disaster. First of all, although I repeatedly called to check on the progress of the work, it took almost 3 months before they were finished. And then when I finally picked them up, the work was shoddy and unprofessional. I was very disappointed after waiting so long. I told the owner that I wasn't happy and he cheerfully gave me the full refund. At least they're honest. In closing, I would probably use them for lamp repairs, but that's about it. read more

My husband has a hanging lamp from the 1950's which is a keepsake. It is a heavy lamp with large colored pieces of cut glass. Unfortunately, he bumped into it and it fell from its holder and hit the floor. The bottom portion broke into large pieces and many, many small ones. We were heart broken because we thought it could not be saved. But alas! I found Fashion Lamps on the internet, gave them a call, and took it in to them to see if they could save it. It took them several months, working on it little by little and now it is as good as new. What expertise and patience. My husband and I are so pleased with their work that we could shout it from the rooftops. The staff is very friendly and the person who handles the repairs is a genius. Well, I would STAY AWAY! They keep your lamp for weeks and then use it on you in unnatural ways when it's FINALLY fixed! Too expensive and they didn't communicate well with regard to how much the repair would cost. It's run by very OLD school folks and I learned the hard way. Charged me 82% of the value of the same exact brand new replacement lamp for my repair. Ridiculous!! read more
