Went for lunch today with the family....and it was awesome. Momma had a brat, my son had lamb sausage, and I did the sampler platter which was three sausages. We also tried their Chicago dog.... The key here is to go on Monday because all sausages are half off, EXCEPT THE SAMPLER, which is all sausage, but is not posted anywhere, and our server didn't tell us. To be honest, this upset me a bit, OK A LOT and I paid full price, but I am still not happy about it. I'd be more upset, but they were soooo good! I sampled the cheddarwurst, the hunter, and the lamb sausage. With the exception of the sampler, all the sausages are served with fries cooked in duck fat, which I am told are delicious. I have a bird allergy, so I didn't risk it. One by one...the Chicago dog - no poppyseed roll, so not an authentic Chicago dog, but, good flavor, proportioned well. Let's call it "styled after a Chicago dog", accept it is not perfectly authentic, and let that one digest. The lamb sausage, served on a pita with greens, feta and tatziki sauce, has a great flavor...nicely seasoned, it's like a lamb gyro in sausage form. The Bratwurst, smothered in Kraut and Dijon mustard was outstanding. It was everything a brat should be. Great flavor, kraut not overpowering but accentuating, just the right mustard bite. Cheddarwurst was flavorful with the overtone of cheddar cheese. Had as part of the sampler, so I don't know how it comes dressed. This is definitely a safe choice if you are unsure, you won't be disappointed. The hunter...hands down my fave, blended venison, bison and pork. I put the flavor above the brat as number 1, and Momma thought it was great as well. Obviously a blend, as venison or bison are way to lean to make straight sausage and be this juicy, so the added fat needed coming from the pork. Absolutely delicious. Let's talk beer. I had to go to back to work, so I had to watch Momma down a 1/2 liter of cider, and my son do the same to a Weiss, my favorite...I had a Diet Pepsi....no justice. 1/2 liter in a hefty mug will set you back about $7 Normally these sausages run $7-$8.50 each, so the Monday 1/2 price deal is really a great value (EXCEPT FOR THE SAMPLER WHICH IS $15 WHICH IS ALL SAUSAGE BUT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE 1/2 PRICE SAUSAGE DEAL EVEN THOUGH IT DOESNT SAY THAT ANYWHERE!) I waited a couple of days to write this, but the sting is still there! The decor inside is picnic tables, so you share space, or eat at the bar, or weather permitting, outside in the beer garden. Why only 3 stars? Because I feel that I was deceived not being told about the sampler not being included on the sausage special. I'm sure I'm not the first customer burned. You've seen Beauty and The Beast right? Well, Fassler Hall reminds me of that scene when Gaston is at the bar. The only thing missing were men in tights breaking out in song while clanking their huge, frothy beer mugs (perhaps I'll be luckier next time?). I came to Fassler Hall on a Thursday night specifically to check out what all the hype was about. It honestly didn't sound like my kind of place (not a hunting trophy decoration fan at all--especially while I'm eating/drinking) but I'm always willing to give everything a fair try. The German flags and awesome Buffalo paintings on the wall ended up winning me over. I was by myself and while I'm used to that and usually perfectly fine with it, some places/bars aren't very friendly when it comes to that (making you feel awkward and shy all of a sudden because you're alone). As soon as I walked in though, my "table-for-one" fears went away. Fassler is a very homey place. It has such a warm and cozy feeling to it! Perhaps the dim lighting helps. Now, I've never been to Germany (someday!) but I hear that classic beer halls there usually feature huge rooms decked out with sturdy, rugged, wooden tables that almost span the entire floor-space. This is what you find here. I can definitely see the inspiration behind it and how the ample space is reminiscent of a German beer hall. The long, wooden tables have a wonderful effect on the atmosphere of the place. I actually ran into some friends there and it felt very natural to simply join their table. The set-up keeps social interaction flowing smoothly. It seemed like even if complete strangers sat at the same table as my friends and I, they would fit in comfortably as everyone enjoyed their brews. What I'm trying to convey here, is that shyness and awkwardness is alleviated by the set-up and chill-out climate. It definitely emphasizes the element of community in beer drinking culture. A must for beer-lovers to experience! That night, I wasn't particularly in a beer-mood though, yet they willingly served me wine instead (yay for giving customers what they want!). Their duck fries were all the rave so of course I had to try them. They were crisp and soft at the same time! I guess cooking them with duck fat does the trick. FYI, you order at the bar... I hear they have a great brunch during the weekends. I can't wait to try their famous breakfast tacos (chorizo? yum!)....Plus who doesn't like mimosas? I deem this place one of the best lunch deals (if not THE best) in Tulsa. Mondays = Sausage party Mondays (the good type of sausage party. Not the lame college-type ones) = 1/2 off sausages. Combine that with Monday's deal of FREE DUCK FAT FRIES with any food purchase during 11am-2pm = one of the best lunches ever. I came with my sister and was able to get a freshly made brat with fries (they don't skimp on the amount, either!!) for under $4. At that time, I only knew they served sausages & a couple of other things. I got the Spicy Chicken Biscuit. Their sausage gravy was very good. I ate it as an open-faced biscuit. I'm glad the chicken wasn't dry. It wasn't as spicy as I expected. Still good. I ate the top of the biscuit with their syrup. Fassler Hall is a great place to relax and hang out in a casual atmosphere. It's particularly cool in the summer when the garage are open and there is live music on their stage! They have great beer and even some liquor selection. The half liter mugs of beer are affordable and complement the sausages perfectly. The decor is unique with an old school German Tavern feel. The tables have tool boxes that hold napkins and condiments. They also have a jukebox available. They are most famous in town for their hot dogs / sausages: great selection of special hot dogs including venison, lamb and other specialty house made wursts. They are all very tasty, along with duck fat fries or even potatoes and apple sauce which sounds different but is extremely delicious! The sausages are all half price on Mondays so it's a great time to go and try all their different wursts! Finally made it here one warm autumn Sunday. It was obvious that we were supposed to order at the bar, then go sit at one of the heavy table benches. (They honestly look ready for a Viking celebration.) We ordered the sausage sampler: bratwurst, the Hunter and the lamb. We also tried the pimento cheese & sourdough bread appetizer. It wasn't a long wait before two metal trays lined with paper adorned with our hot, delicious-looking food. It would've been nice if someone told us which sausage was what, but it was fun nibbling and guessing (correctly). The Hunter, which was the one I was afraid of, was nearly spectacular. It was venison, bison & something else brat-ie. Juicy red meat needed no mustard. The bratwurst was actually my least favorite. I am not a pimento cheese person. May have tried it 30 years ago and that was enough. So why get something I didn't like? Well, that's all in the past. This was creamy, chunky heaven. I enjoyed every bite. It tasted fresh and light. My mind was blown. The place wasn't huge, just large enough for a Viking celebration. It wasn't crazy crowded at 3 pm even though there was a big event that day downtown. I suspect the majority we're outside in the beer garden. The music was loud & conversations drifted about like low hanging clouds, but it wasn't so loud that Hunny and I couldn't hear each other. And although we were probably the oldest people in there for most of the hour, I definitely want to go back. I can't speak for the rest of the staff, but, the barkeep that tended me was a condescending, entitled millennial that treated me as if I invaded her space by sitting at the bar. Said "good morning" when I sat down, asked what stouts where available, in a near empty hall with low music playing in the background and she was immediately annoyed at the fact that she couldn't hear me. Yes, I left without tipping. Walked right down to Dilly Dinner where the brunch barkeep (Jaime Danielle Toman); in a loud, crowded bar of 14+ people, she greeted me immediately and asked if I would like something to drink. I had a stout in less than 5min and she took my order 10min later. Her smile, kindness, and grace made up above and beyond for the toxicity of Fassler Hall. If I could just get some of that sauerkraut to go, with a fork and mustard, I'd be a really happy lady! It's homemade and quite different from the jarred kraut you find on most dogs at the ball park. Good beer selection and our glasses were kept full as we were sitting at the bar. My husband had the Chicago Dog and it was really good. I ordered 3 mini sausages on the happy hour menu and it was just too much bread, not enough meat. Next time l will order the kraut and a couple sausages. This is probably my favorite place we went to on a recent visit to Tulsa. Day drinking is one of my hobbies, so this was the perfect spot. The weather was beautiful and thankfully they have an extensive outdoor seating area. Their brunch mimosa special was the perfect way to start - my boyfriend and I split a bottle of champagne and got to choose from several juices at the bar upfront. All great downtown areas need to have a good German beer bar, and Blue Dome has it in Fassler Hall. It's kind of like a Flying Saucer, but not a chain (and thus better). The beer selection is excellent, be sure to check what they have on special. Sometimes you can get a massive beer for $5. They also have a full bar along with a few wines, they give a decent pour. The food is perfect for a place like this, with some pretty straightforward and simple options. Everything is very easy to eat and delicious. I'm sounding like Jon Taffer there,I need to cut back on the Bar Rescue binges. The main part of the food menu is sausage, but on the vegetarian side they have some delicious soft pretzels along with a falafel dog. Both are great. The atmosphere is top notch as well. The bar is well laid out and there are massive picnic tables inside. It's never too loud and considering how busy it can get on weekends, they keep the place remarkably clean. They have tv's too, so it's a good place to catch a game. Outside there is a Beer Garden (Bier Garten?) area that seems like a lot of fun when the weather is right. They asked for our ID's, then told us they were keeping them with no explanation as to why. Staff was extremely rude and told us to leave immediately, getting angry when we asked for an explanation. Fassler Hall is a unique Tulsa treasure. A great place to be a regular, to pop into from out of town or to take a date. If you aren't into the loud sporting events that air here, just be sure to come here on a day that might not be going on. Even if you aren't into it, you just might be once you leave! This place certainly has their share of beers, mostly German (Of course, but who's complaining), as well as a full bar with liquors of your choosing. Most importantly (ok beer is very important) let's not forget the food offered here. They have great brunch but it's hard for me to catch as I love my sleep too much. They have an array of sausages and every Monday evening until midnight (yay!) they are 1/2 off! Hard to beat that, especially since they are so fresh and made in-house to boot! They have multiple toppings for you to choose from, even the bread is delicious. Sides/appetizers, every one knows about their Duck Fries by now, super great, I also love the pretzels because they come with a delicious cheese sauce to dip them in. Every now & again (holiday season), this place gets completely full of corporate-types. Otherwise, it's a pretty friendly place and a locals' favorite. A true beer hall: don't be afraid to cozy up and share a picnic table with another group. Limited menu (bfast tacos, brats, fries), but some solid lunch choices. Been out of stock per distributor for awhile now, but the greatest lager in the world (Staropramen) was regularly sold here 2011-summer, 2013. Great selection of German brews otherwise. I have been to Fassler Hall several times over the last few years since moving to Tulsa, and each time I go it moves higher up on my proverbial list. The Oktoberfest event they hold each year is top notch. It features tons of great food, beer, and music. My favorite part of this event is the "hat toss" at the beer stand. After each beer purchased, you get a chance to catch a large German hat (thrown by a beer stand staffer) on your head using only your noggin. If you do catch the hat, you win a free beer. I've been waiting 10 long months to get my revenge... More recently, I came here for a post church Sunday brunch. We had the breakfast tacos and potatoes. Absolutely delicious and a great price to boot (hi-ooo!). They have incredibly cheap (and huge!) mimosas that allow you to choose from 5 different flavors of fruit juice.
