1-Star Review for Variety Wraps…read more I began working with Richard at Variety Wraps in late September to design and install a business wrap on my 2007 Toyota Yaris. At first, things seemed positive -- I provided my logo, and we discussed design ideas, colors, and the heavy oxidation on my car's paint. Richard acknowledged that and said he would determine the right "tackiness" of vinyl to make it adhere properly. Unfortunately, the project quickly became an ongoing "big experimentation," in his own words. He repeatedly mentioned how difficult the oxidation made the job but never recommended the proper preparation steps -- such as sanding or priming -- that other reputable wrap shops later told me are essential for adhesion and longevity. Several shops confirmed that a car with significant oxidation should never be wrapped without those steps. Instead, he continued trying to apply pieces of wrap directly to the oxidized paint, saying he was "testing different materials." After delays, scrapped pieces, and constant complaints from him about how challenging the job was, it became clear he didn't have the expertise for this situation -- or any real timeline. At one point, he admitted he couldn't say when the car would be finished because of the "special situation." I needed the car for work and had planned to bring it back, but when I picked it up, though the roof had been completed, the cuts were uneven in places making it look unfinished. At that point, I decided I couldn't continue. He later invoiced me for "a la carte" fees, including $300 for artwork, $150 for prep/experimentation, $250 for the completed roof, and $250 for partial installation -- charging me half of the quoted price, even though not even half of the car had been completed. I paid to close the chapter, but I regret it. He texted me several times afterward asking to finish the job, but I simply couldn't risk it. Would you? When I asked why he didn't sand the car first, his response said it all: "I'm not a paint expert." He even began questioning me about how other companies handle sanding and rust prevention -- which made it clear who was actually lacking expertise. Worse, when I asked for the design files I had already paid for, he stopped responding to my messages. To date, I have never received them. I've went to a more professional shop that confirmed the problems with his work: uneven cuts, no protective lamination, and improper preparation. I strongly caution anyone considering Variety Wraps -- especially if your vehicle has paint wear or oxidation. Richard kept saying he was trying to "educate" me about the issues, but after he used my car as an experiment, I'm not sure I was the one who needed the lesson. What should have been a simple business wrap became an expensive and frustrating "experiment".

I do not recommend working with this company or leaving your car here…read more I had a very bad experience with them. First of all, just two days after the PPF installation, the film started peeling off, especially around the edges and corners. Philip told me this was "normal" and that everything would be fixed during the follow-up correction appointment. I came back for the correction, and they repaired the areas that were lifting. However, I also noticed that my front bumper had been wrapped using four separate pieces of film, with the pieces overlapping each other. I was told this was normal. I wasn't happy with that at all, but I decided to let it go. After the correction, the exact same problem came back. The film started peeling again from the corners, around the door handles, and in multiple other places. I also noticed that the film had changed color and became more yellow than it was originally. I'll attach photos showing the difference. Overall, I would not recommend leaving your car here. They will keep making promises, avoid taking responsibility, and refuse to properly redo poor-quality work. I don't know how genuine the other reviews are, but my experience with this company was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Today (5/23/2026) I had the full ceramic tint installed on the two rear windows, back window, and roof of my Tesla Model Y. My front windows and windshield were already tinted by another shop that also did a good job, but I wanted to see if ceramic tinting the rest of the glass on my Tesla Y would help keep the cabin even cooler. The process to wrap my van was easy. They had my Ford transit measurements in their computer and were able to give me an idea of the look I wanted on my first visit. The end result was better than I anticipated. I am now having them make door magnets that look like my van wrap for my employees. I am also making a large wall poster 10' x 10' for my showroom. I was greeted by a pleasant employee, to whom I explained that I needed copies of a small number of pages from the binder I brought in. She said no problem and I handed her the first stack of 20 or so individual pages. I am assuming she was a new employee because she had to call someone to ask how to load the half sized pages I had handed her. After several minutes I looked up and noticed that instead of placing the stack into the auto-feeder, she was placing each page onto the glass, taking a copy them flipping it over to copy the back. I stopped her and asked why she was doing it like that and she said the auto feeder wasn't keeping the I pages straight (which was due to her loading them in backwards). I explained that the order of the pages was very important and I didn't have confidence that her method could ensure that so I asked her to return the originals. She did. I then asked if they could produce a life-size cutout of a cartoon character for a birthday party I was planning. She took my info and promised a call back with a quote after her boss got back from lunch. So that must be an epic lunch because it has been over a week and no call yet, soooo.....still waiting.

I first went to the print shop on Los Angeles Avenue, across from the lumber yard. The abundance…read moreof politically charged signs and stickers adorning the windows and front door suggested to me that my business wouldn't be appreciated, so I tried to find Top T's -- which seems to have closed since I last got T-shirts, and I tried to work with Monarch -- which seems to have closed since the Pandemic. I ended up at Spectra Color and was worried my low quantities would be too small of an order for Mark. To my surprise Mark was happy to see me, immediately stopping whatever he was working on and sharing pricing information and additional knowledge about T-shirt and Sweatshirt fabrics and quality. That gave me a head-start and I left to brainstorm for a couple weeks. I came back with samples of art from flyers and a couple wild ideas, plus exact quantities for an order. Mark rolled with the changes in my specifications and even helped me clean up my previous designs so they would look cleaner on the new products. With all those demands and details, I was nervous about telling him I needed the garments in a month. Mark said he could easily get them done in two weeks -- and ended up taking some vacation time off and still delivering my order only ten days later! That boosted my confidence in Mark's abilities, so I returned a couple weeks later to ask if he could blow up my design and put it on a weird banner I had been thinking about. Since he had already improved my original graphics format, enlarging it was easy for him. Mark listened to my ideas, suggested some variations on my ideas, and even provided some better alternatives for mounting the resulting banner securely. Two weeks later (well, probably only ten days, but I didn't return to pick up the results for two weeks) Mark had produced a banner that was better than I had imagined, plus it cost less than the shirts! I'm so glad I found Spectra-Color! Mark was extremely patient in working with me, not just listening to my ideas and fulfiling my order, but collaborating with me when my ideas were vague and helping me to design and deliver fantastic results and high quality products. Spectra-Color may be one of a dwindling number of custom print shops in Simi Valley. His work is top-notch and, from now on, I refuse to take my print jobs to anyone else!

Now I understand that he is just so amazing and so special and such a genuinely beautiful human being that he inspires people who never write reviews to write reviews, thus causing the system to be confused. He was extremely kind to me in helping me print my mother's memorial service program, was extremely patient and made lots of tweaks and proofs to perfect the product, and gave me a fantastic deal. LOVE EM.
