Really love the vibe and setting of the cafe and it looks like a nice hangout spot with friends or to do some work. The drinks were amazing and I love how there were plenty of options to choose from. Very quick service for the time we went, so I'm not sure if has busy hours like other places. Would recommend and I will be back for more! :)

An awesome new addition to the local boba scene! The staff helped me find a drink that met my dietary requirements (if you need to avoid dairy and/or caffeine check out their "latte" series, which here literally means milk) and I chose a creme brûlée latte with coconut and oat milk. The staff was cheerful, the space is cute, and the drink was delicious! I normally need to stick to juices and slushies, so being able to try out a trendy milk-based drink without traveling home to the west coast is a real treat. The tapioca was cooked especially well, too. I just can't say enough good things about Fat Bee!

I was searching for a cute place to check out off Shawnee Mission Parkway, and I was happy to find this little place! They seem to specialize in cold drinks, including caffinated and non-caffinated drinks! When I came in, the ambiance was so cute. Lots of plants and comfortable tables and chairs, so if you have a bit of time, I recommend ordering for in-house. I got to the front and the batista helped me with ordering - - she recommended the crème brûlée coffee latte with regular sugar and regular ice (these were questions I was asked and I had NO IDEA what to say ). When you order, they give you a little remote that beeps when your order is ready, so you have a chance to check out the comfy seats no matter if you order in or take out. The drink was pretty sweet, but I assumed that was what I was getting myself into with this cold creamy drink. It was delicious but definitely warning if you're looking for savory, this drink is not for you. They even brûléed the top of the drink--it looked so cool and it even cracked like the dessert! Looking forward to cooking back to try out some of the Boba options for drinks. Thanks, Fat Bee!

I am not familiar with Boba Tea and don't drink tea that much (coffee is my fav) but my husband and I tried their teas and they were very flavorful! The establishment is very clean which I appreciate. Its decor is contemporary and bright and airy. The service was good and prompt. We will definitely go back and I will try their coffee drinks next time.

Thai Iced Tea - Less Ice
    Jansher D.

Wanted to try out this new boba place cause it looked really nice in pictures. I got the Thai iced tea with less ice. Was slightly disappointed cause it was more ice than less ice. The Thai iced tea was not bad but a little grainy. I will try this place again but was expecting better for the price of their boba. (Rating: 2/5) Inside - Still a lot of construction happening. My chair (booth) was falling apart when I sat on the edge of it. I wanted to do some work at the cafe but the dark, damp, environment convinced me otherwise. The place can use a lot of polish work, however, I liked the theme and style that they are going for. Excited to see the finished result. (Rating: 3/5)

I've tried this place a few times and each time I was a bit disappointed. I tried the Ube Phan Laze which is just Vietnamese Coffee and I couldn't taste any ube. I got it with brown sugar boba which I liked but the ice wasn't crushed up fully and I keep getting chunks of it with my boba which I didn't enjoy. The price is a bit expensive compared to the other boba shops.

Fat Bee is cute cute cute! The restaurant itself is very clean, decorated with modern furnishings, and is comfy. There are board games and comfy benches if you feel like staying for a bit. Today I tried the Crème Brûlée Boba and it is awesome. I got 50% sweet and it was plenty. I think the full sweet version might actually make my teeth hurt. Fat Bee is a great addition to Shawnee!

I love Fat Bee! They have the best brown sugar boba latte I've ever tried. The service is always friendly and the store is so so cute. They have other yummy drinks besides the brown sugar, but that one is my go to. I always stop by the one off of 135th in OP when I'm in the area, but today I was right next to the Shawnee location so stopped in to give them a try. Definitely glad I did that.

    Tropical Delight with mango jelly.
    Marissa W.

Not to be dramatic but the drink I got here is one of the best things I've ever tasted. Just wow. And the jelly was STAR SHAPED! Pure happiness in a cup. This place is delightful with a quiet charming interior. The service is fast and attentive. The prices are very reasonable considering the size and quality. The menu is extensive and the worst part of my visit was struggling to decide what to order because there are just so many mouthwatering options. Guess I will have to come back frequently to try them all! Highly recommend this business.

    SO MUCH ICE!!!

I would give this zero stars if I could!!! I payed $9 for ice, they stare at you while you press "no tip." I also payed for EXTRA BOBA and guess what, it was no where in sight, and taste was mid. Do not come here with your giftcard, they won't take it DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

    Cream berry croffle
    Kim P.

Really cute ambiance and plenty of seating. We ordered two drinks, strawberry matcha latte and a Ube freeze with regular sweetness level, but both drinks were way too sweet so it took us awhile to finish it. We ordered two different croffles, the Oreo, which I highly recommend. The cream Berry was just OK, the fruit was not fresh and came out frozen. Would give it another try and order the drinks less sweet next time.

    Strawberry cheesecake and taro freeze.
    Lisa H.

One of my favorite boba shops. I love the lychee drink, taro freeze and strawberry cheesecake(no boba). This place is consistent in how their drinks are made. Sometimes there are so many different workers at other places and it does not taste the same. The lychee is good refresher especially on a hot day. It has a perfect balance of tea and lychee. The taro freeze and strawberry cheesecake are more of dessert drinks. I don't recommend boba pearls in the strawberry drink. It was not my favorite but the drink by itself was delicious and just what I imagined it to be. I am not a fan of the milk tea here. If you are looking for a good milk tea I would recommend doing tea!

Delicious, quality boba drinks you can always count on! The Shawnee location is the latest addition to the Fat Bee franchise and I have been drinking at Fat Bee since its first location in Overland Park. This location carries the same quality in drinks and customer service. The cafe's ambiance makes it the perfect spot to grab a drink with friends or even work or study! I recommend trying the Tropical Vibe and Pink Lady drinks with Brown Sugar Boba. Don't forget to try out the croffle as well!

Everything flows. It's organized chaos done right. The seasonal drinks are consistently creative and actually good. Not just pretty for Instagram. Balanced, thoughtful, and well executed. And the bakery? Dangerous. The display case is pure temptation. Cinnamon rolls, pecan twists, danishes, cookies, scones. Everything looks like the right choice, which makes choosing impossible. They also have solid brunch plates and sandwiches if you're trying to pretend you're here for something other than sugar and caffeine. Now for the one miss. I ordered the pepper jack breakfast burrito, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to the rest of the experience. Flat flavors, mushy texture, no real identity. The hot sauce was doing most of the work. It felt out of place in a spot that clearly cares about quality. Thankfully, the bakery and coffee saved the day. The pecan twist was flaky, buttery, and just sweet enough. The seasonal latte with cold foam was smooth, balanced, and dialed in. Overall, McLain's is a Kansas City staple for a reason. Efficient, welcoming, and consistently good at what they do. One menu tweak away from being near-perfect. Solid 4-star spot. Would happily come back.

The latte was pretty mediocre, not bad but not great either. The coffee itself didn't taste anything special, and for the price I was expecting a little more from it. The sandwich, though, was really good. Everything was cooked perfectly: velvety runny egg, crunchy bacon, melted gouda (although I couldn't taste it much), and an earthy basil mayo. All the flavors worked really well together, and it was a solid-sized sandwich too. My biggest issue was the price. I spent over $20 here, and honestly I feel like I could make a sandwich and coffee similar to this at home for cheaper and probably better.

Maybe it's the former barista in me, but I just never know what I'm gonna walk into. I was bit extra hesitant as I knew from reading reviews that this place was a bit off the beaten path, and as I routed myself there and found my car meandering through a suburban office parking lot maze I became even more nervous about my plan to work from here. All of that being said, once I got close to the coffeeshop itself I saw a sign clearly visible from the lot which was my first breath of relief. The signage is spectacular for a fairly hidden spot. Yes, you need to know it's here, but you will find it rest assured! If you don't see the sign keep hunting. The nice thing about it being in an office park is that there is ample parking. I was able to park and walk right in. The inside is modern but inviting, and at 9am I was able to have my pick of the tables. The day I was there was nice and I had my laptop so I went outside to their patio. I worked out there for about an hour and when I came inside to take a video call it was packed! Coming to this stretch of suburbia feels charming and quaint, and I love that there is a really fantastic local coffee shop nestled into this shopping center. Now onto what makes this place so special. There are tons of great cafes in Kansas City, but what sets Maps apart from the pack is that they roast their own beans in house and they are all super fresh. You can taste the difference in the brew and it's a nice change of pace to have something a bit different since many of the local spots in town use the same local roasters. Once you find out about Maps you'll start to notice other cafes and restaurants that use their beans. It's not as many as say, Messenger, but Maps holds their own in this arena. They also make their own chocolate! And when I say make, I mean make. They actually make the chocolate bars and not just the candies. Even more impressive, it's damn good chocolate. Honestly, if you haven't been to this spot and have a love for coffee and/or chocolate it's well worth a visit. The cherry on top for me is how unpretentious the entire place is.
