This was a small cute cafe offering a variety of drinks like milk teas, flavored teas, lattes, cheese macchiato, alongside 6 different toppings. Menu was posted by the kiosk and several displays were showing different drinks. They had self ordering kiosk. Most drinks came in L and M sizes, but for some drinks they had tiny kid's size. There was also good amount of sitting spots to enjoy the drink inside the store. We ordered the mixed fruit green tea, salted caramel Thai tea, signature royal milk tea (L and kid's), with boba. Took them about 10 minutes to prepare the drinks. All the drinks were so tasty. Loved the flavor of the milk and fruit tea. Bobas were soft and chewy. I was pleasantly surprised to find this excellent boba tea spot in KC (Country Club Plaza).

Variety of drinks and toppings. The boba is very good. Texture and flavor are top tier. They cook the boba with brown sugar so I don't even need extra sugar in my milk tea. Nice staff. No public bathroom.
Wanted to grab a sweet drink while exploring downtown. Cafe has a trendy exterior and interior. Ordered on kiosk which made customizations easy. Lots of interesting flavors that cater to more of a Western flavor profile. First time seeing a Redbull boba. It was amusing, but they did have more traditional flavors as well. Originally wanted a matcha, but it didn't look to be the best quality based on the muddy color. Ended up ordering the strawberry anchan latte with crystal boba and almond milk. Unfortunately, the almond milk overpowered any other flavors, so it ended up tasting like straight almond milk with some crystal boba. Pretty drink, but wouldn't get it again. The population is around 2% Asian here, so it makes sense authentic tea shops and flavors may be harder to come by. Seemed to be more popular with the teens.
Needed a boba pick me up in KC and Bruu Cafe did just the trick! The space is very cute and minimal on the inside. The ordering kiosk provided a lot of photos to give you an idea of what the drinks will taste and look like which is helpful if you're new to boba and teas. I went with the Milk Tea Cheese Macchiato -- it was one of the specials and recommended by the staff member working. I decided to get it 50% sweet which ended up being too low, the drink was a little bitter. The sweetness levels are always a little confusing to me because I don't want to over do it. The boba pearls were yummy though. Overall it was okay, but didn't wow me. My husband got one of the Red Bull drinks that was actually pretty good but very, very sweet. It was hard for us to find that happy medium.

Although I still had questions because the drink I was looking for was not where expected. It's a bit smaller location but still that Bruu touch. Hot Matcha latte and Matcha Green Tea Cheese Macchiato (light ice, no bubble and 75% sweet). I asked about the quality & grade of Matcha, to which I was informed chef's grade. This to me meant culinary grade which is pretty low. The drink was still good, including the cheese syrup on top of my Macchiato
This was my first boba (I know I know)-- I mean, I've had tastes of other people's - but never ordered for myself. My wife insisted we pop in and since I was starting to drag, I figured it couldn't hurt. Imagine my relief when I saw they had a Red Bull-based drink on the menu. I couldn't order it quickly enough. It was pretty clean inside. Staff doesn't really interact with you until you are handed your drink (order at a kiosk thing). The drink itself was fine. I'm not sure what was in it besides the little balls, ice, and some Red Bull - but at the time it was what I needed. (Actually probably would've been better off with a Red Bull from a gas station or something but whatever). Not a bad spot. I'd revisit when more awake and more adventurous.
Self-serve boba place in the Country Plaza shopping area. The interior is small but enough room to order on a kiosk and they text you when it's ready so you can wait inside or outside. SO many great options. I want to try everything. Easy 5 stars!

Ordered: *Fresh Milk Creme Brulee with Brown Sugar and Boba *Signature Royal Milk Tea *Strawberry Marble Latte Clean and spacious. I'm from California which we are always surrounded by tons of bubble tea/boba spots and Bruu Cafe meets the cut. Drinks are made fresh to order and they use real ingredients not the powdered stuff. So, I definitely recommend this spot and give it 2 thumbs up. Please come to California!! I totally would be going and supporting. My go to drink whenever I try a new spot is a simple milk tea with boba, this particular day I ordered without ice. Sadly the tea had an unpleasant bitter aftertaste to it, even with the milk it didn't help. The boba texture was fine but there was minimal chew and no sweetness to it whatsoever. I also was a little put off by them not filling the cup to the top(although I have experienced the same with a few other boba places when I order no ice). I tried but couldn't finish the drink. I wanted to like this place but I won't be back.
I was happy to see a boba shop on The Plaza that I haven't been to before on my trips to KC. I was there over Christmas so I wanted to try a seasonal flavor and saw pumpkin on the menu. The boba I got was really pretty and the staff is really friendly. It was really sweet and didn't taste like pumpkin or have a tea flavor. Coming back again, I would probably choose a different flavor or reduce the amount of sweetness by quite a bit.
One of mine and my daughter's favorite boba spots! The service is always fast and friendly, no long waits. I've not tried any food from here yet. The place is small but cute and plenty of seating while you wait.
My daughter was wanting a milk tea so we ended up here. Such a cute bubble tea shop! We ordered at the kiosk and had our beverages very quickly. I had the fresh milk crème brûlée with brown sugar Boba. It was the best milk tea I have ever had. My daughter had the brown sugar Boba milk tea with almond milk. She really enjoyed hers as well.
When an asian says that their dessert is "not too sweet..." it really is the HIGHEST compliment. A year later, and I'm still lovin' everything Bruu. ESPECIALLY their milk tea collection.

Yelpers say this place is an amazing American equivalent of boba shops you'd see in Taiwan and China, and the vibrant, curated menu is unlike anything I've seen. They run many seasonal drinks with unique flavor combinations at affordable prices. From yuzu sodas to matcha lemonades and strawberry marble lattes, everyone is bound to find something they love. I gravitated towards the Honeydew Niu Niu latte with rainbow jelly because of recommendations to try their specials. It didn't come out like the pictures/menus, but it tasted oh so good! I got it 50% sweet and it was the perfect level. Definitely get less sweet than normal. I wish I could've gotten my boba in a collectible cup, as seen on the window sticker menu, but I don't believe they offer this option anymore. All their ordering is on 3 giant ordering screens around the store. It's a pretty small location, but the booth seating is comfy and plentiful. For an intimate convo, I'd recommend you sit on one of the benches outside the front of the cafe. I don't want to spoil too much before my Instagram review reel, but wanted to put out this review for anyone looking to try a new boba spot. Definitely give this one a try! read more

One of my favorite boba spots in KC. They make their tapioca boba fresh every day!!! And they have really interesting drinks. They don't offer your typical boba flavors so come here with an open mind. And they usually offer a seasonal drink so it's always fun and interesting to see what they come up with next. You can also get your drinks in a plastic,reusable bottle or in the typical boba cup. Also you can order curb side! Some of my favorites : Anchan, Honeydew, crème brûlée Aesthetic - This place is quite small so you won't have time to really sit down and enjoy the beautiful place because there's usually a long line that goes out the door. Also they typically ask you to leave so they can easily accommodate for their busy lines. But maybe you'll have better luck getting photos and alone time during the daytime. Parking - park across the street in the empty lot. There's also underground parking as well. Service - quick and kind! Everyone has always been sweet to me. read more

My sister had given me a gift card to this place for Xmas since I'm an avid bubble tea drinker (tried approx 60ish boba places since June 2022) and she wanted to try bubble tea for the first time so we were excited to try it out and use the gift card before our flight the next morning. We ended up ordering 3 fresh milk creme brûlées, 2 passionfruit teas (one with 0% sugar and one with 75%) and a hot thai coffee. 2 of our 6 drinks were ordered separately first on the touchscreen menu. We were ordering the remaining 4 drinks on the touch screen menu and one of the two people working was very short and unfriendly telling us to use the other screen to order so it would be faster but we wanted to pay with the gift card and one credit card. And we were just about to place the order. She seemed frustrated and flustered that we were wanting to use a gift card because they don't accept gift cards on the touchscreen and she had to use an iPad to process payment. While I get that sometimes it seems less than ideal to get customers right before close if you're in a hurry to get somewhere after work but 17 mins before close isn't the worst and that's potentially 7 new regular customers...so while you don't have to bend over backwards...the least they could've done was not give attitude. I've previously worked as a server for many years so I get that it can be frustrating sometimes but we were not being rude at all. While ordering I had a simple question because my go-to is jasmine oat milk tea and there was no option to add oat milk to the jasmine green tea. She abruptly said they don't have jasmine milk tea. So I chose passionfruit tea since it had real passion fruit in the picture. Passionfruit tea - they actually did not have any real passionfruit in them at all despite being advertised with it. I don't know if they normally do and they decided to not include it because they were in a bad mood or if the photo is just totally misleading...but the passion fruit tea didn't even taste like real or artificial passionfruit. And on top of that the drinks were incorrectly labelled - I received the 75% sugar passion fruit tea with a 0% label. But our friend got the 0% with a 75% label. Luckily we figured it out and switched after awhile but I didn't end up drinking mine because the drink was disgusting...not due to lack of sugar but because it literally tasted like a really boring low quality teabag flavored peach tea or something. 0/5 The creme brûlée drinks were good. It's a drink that is a pretty safe recommendation for most people who have never had bubble tea or rarely have it. It had a really nice caramel brown sugar flavor but I didn't like that you can't make any modifications at all to sugar or ice. My sister liked it but as the drink went on..realized it was too sweet. 3.75/5 The boba itself was okay. Cooked all the way through, soft, chewy but could've had better flavor. They were slightly larger size than average and decent portion in each cup to almost have enough to the end of the drink. 3/5 The design, color scheme and decorating of this place is very cute though. Overall, my ratings average to 2.25. I was going to set my review to a 3 star but because the service was unnecessarily rude and the passionfruit tea was misleading and so incredibly disappointing I'm making it a 2. Because of these reasons I don't know if I'd go back when we're back in the area. read more

A cute little boba shop! Ordered on the kiosk and got my drink pretty fast. I got the anchan strawberry latte because it looked pretty. It tasted just as good as it looks! And this place is located in Country Club Plaza, so it's convenient to grab a yummy drink while walking and shopping around or to chill amidst your shopping. read more

In a busy shopping area and cannot park in front of the shop. Busy inside. People sitting all around waiting for their orders. Order on a kisosk (boo- I like talking to the workers. Getting tips on what they do well.) We placed that kiosk order. Then there was a problem with their system and waiting became a time consumer. Finally got our items and their matcha was just ok. Not sweet enough. Not enough ice. Highly rated but I found it ok. read more

Bruú is a pretty small shop located on the Plaza but it's super cute inside and perfect for picking up a drink to go. Inside they have self serve kiosks which were super user friendly. I got a Brown Sugar Milk Tea with boba at half sweet and my boyfriend got the Thai Tea regular sweetness. The bobas were so soft and squishy and the brown sugar flavor was delicious. I tried the Thai Tea as well which was a bit sweet for me but so so good nonetheless. The front-of-house staff came off as being slightly rude but outside of that our drinks were wonderful and I would definitely come back for a tea to go! read more

They have done great with covid precautions, including a little stop and go light sign outside to let you know if they're at capacity. Guess what lactose intolerant friends? All of these milk drinks are lactose free!!!!! Opted for the tarp, at 50% sweetness. I wish I would have gone with the 75%, but it was still delicious nonetheless. A very well flavored, Vanilla umami. Staff were very kind and answered my questions related to the menu. read more

Definitely my favorite spot in Kansas City to get boba from! It's a nice, small, modern-designed boba shop. Their drinks taste to be of high quality ingredients. Sometimes if I like a boba place enough, I'll grab two drinks so I can drink one later..this is one of those places. Service is good, but no public restroom. Parking is either street parking or the parking lot/garage across the street. read more

This is a very clean and cute establishment. It looks new and the staff is friendly and will give you recommendations. We got the hot royal milk tea, butter beer and taro latte with boba. The shop is small and there is not a lot of sitting space. The drinks are delicious! read more
Now I'm known amongst my friends to be annoyingly picky when it comes to boba. I have high expectations for how the quality of the boba should be. Bruú Café did not disappoint. In fact, it impressed me more than I believed it would. First off, the shop is adorable and very well-lit. They're really great about limiting the amount of people inside due to COVID. As for their menu, they have a variety of fun and exciting drinks like I've never seen before. I'm typically a original Thai tea or taro drink kind of gal, but I decided to be adventurous and go for the strawberry marble latte with original boba. WOW I wish I lived in Kansas City so that I could get this drink all the time. With 50% reduced sweetness, it wasn't over-the-top sugary. And the boba consistency was perfect (not to squishy, but not too firm)! I can't wait for the next time I'm in town and can try a different drink out, although I may be tempted to stick with the amazing drink I got last time. As far as boba shops go in KC, Bruú seems to the the superior place in my opinion! read more
Such a cute place! The aesthetics are very much appreciated-- both the interior as well as the drinks themselves. The drinks really are beautiful. And their menu has many options that all sound great. I got a milk tea and it tasted pretty normal for a boba place. Nothing too special about it. Please Come Here! Cute and clean store, and my order came surprisingly fast! There were so many options it blew me away, it took like ten minutes to decide. I would rate it five stars but it was a bit expensive. I got a honeydew Italian cream soda with Crystal and tapioca bubbles and it was $9.30 I don't know if that's normal for places like these. But my Drink was really pretty! read more
I laughed a bit about the stickers saying "simply refreshing," but that is exactly what you can expect from Bruú Café-- a delicious, cold, refreshing drink. I have never had brown sugar pearls before but did enjoy them, though probably a tad bit less than tapioca. My friend, Erin, enjoyed a dairy-free peach tea with peach pearls in the bottom. She was equally pleased with her drink. I want to give a quick but specific shout out to the customer service at Bruú. The line was increasing, so one employee came out with an iPad to help take orders and move customers along. I appreciate when people are able to take initiative and that's exactly what they did.
