I have been to couple other Mclain's market places in our metro (Roe avenue & Gregory Blvd) & I've always loved their ambience, pastries and breakfast options. I'm so glad I stopped by this Mclain's market location at Shawnee after my morning bike ride. I saw a lot of fellow bikers stopping by this place for a breakfast after their ride. Lots of parking spots available in front of the store and street parking available too. Ambiance here has my whole heart. Beautiful place. Lots of tables, sofas, plants inside the store. I would've had a breakfast or a pastry like I usually do when I visit Mclain's. I've got only the signature latte this time. Loved the latte. Staffs here are super nice. They always carry a good smile with them. Can't wait to get back here for breakfast and pastries sometime soon.

Easy 5 stars for a breakfast & coffee spot, especially if you want to go for something sweet. There's a wide variety of fresh pastries - my favorite being the cheese danish & almond cheese pocket. I always either get the breakfast burrito or one of the breakfast sandwiches. I would've posted a photo of the pastries....but I ate them too quickly! Restaurant is always clean and well kept. Service is friendly & fast - a bonus considering they've got a bunch of patrons and keep service up so you don't wait around.

Met my mom and sister-in-law for lunch here on a Saturday. We were actually easily able to find parking and a table! My latte was good ! I LOVED the chicken wrap - probably my favorite part! Food was good all around. Wasn't a big fan of the coffee bbq sauce but had to try! Overall, I enjoyed my experience but probably would be more likely to go drive thru if I come back ! :)

Chicken and biscuits with gravy. Cream cheese danish with almonds.

Amy food for a coffee shop/cafe. Went there for the coffee and was blown away by their food. Super quick service. Very friendly. Clean a neat atmosphere. Plenty of seating. Had the chicken with biscuits and gravy. Superb. Also had the cream cheese danish with almond. Magnificent. Chocolate Mocha just top it off. Everything was great! Now get you some!!

I love McClains in Waldo in Kansas City, MO and inOverland Park KS but Lookie here! There another one in Shawnee KS with the same great food and bakery goodies. A big group called Joyful Community Over 50 got together to eat and chat. We had the back room which made it easy to hear one another. Loved my Bowl & shared a cup of tasty beautiful cookies! Thanks McLain's!

One of our favorite places around KC! Best food options, warmest people and fun little seasonal home goods to shop.

We were in the KS area for a long weekend trip and stopped at McLain's a couple of times. The pastry case was very tempting and I wanted to get one of everything. The McLain's iced latte was amazing. It's probably good I do not live closer otherwise I'd be stopping frequently to get a latte and something to satisfy my sweet tooth.

The ambiance is always lovely at McLain's and the service is pretty fast. I got the girl breakfast which has quickly become one of my favorite meals EVER. You get a little bit of everything and every bite is better than the last!

This place always rocks. Great quality food. Quick service. Excellent for breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Everything is good on the menu. Coffee is great. It can get a little loud when it's busy but I have also found it to be a good place to study during the slower times back when I was in school. It's a converted mechanic shop so it's kind of new age industrial

One stop shop for everything you need to get your morning started right. Buttery croissants? They got it! Freshly brewed coffee? They got it too! Delicious sandwiches? Many selections on their menu. Seriously, you can't go wrong here. My friend introduced me to their sugar cookies a few months ago. I fell in love. I am Asian. I don't like anything overly sweet. Their sugar cookies had just the right of sweetest to my liking. And that is a huge compliment coming from me! I love that is located in Shawnee Downtown and they have a lot of parking space. The space is very bright, clean, and spacious. All the staffs are friendly and helpful. Such a cute place to hang out with friends and family. Highly recommend.

I must say, I believe this is the best restaurant in Shawnee. It's becoming a favorite of ours as we've loved the food each time. This was our first time dining in for lunch and the atmosphere is great too. Friendly staff, an array of products sold, and a beautiful setup for lots of natural light to come in, you'll enjoy your time here. Personally, I love the amount of healthy options they have. This time I went with the harvest quinoa bowl. Very fresh with great ingredients.

McLain's Market has stood tall as one of my favorite local sit-in spots for a long time. Their coffee and snacks taste excellent. The staff's wide smiles and greetings create an inviting atmosphere. The prices don't range too far from that of Starbucks' menu, so not very expensive either. Would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to try something different than the usual franchises found here!

    The Farm

McLain's is great in general, and this location in Shawnee is no exception to that rule. My go-to brunch item is "the Farm" which is a really indulgent croissant breakfast sandwich featuring sausage, egg, and avocado. I usually struggle to finish it, but keep ordering it because I'm yet to find another breakfast item that even comes close to how tasty this one is. My only real qualm with McLain's, is that every location is always packed to the brim when I visit. Whether it's lunch during the week, or brunch on the weekend, it's a competitive sport to hunt and gather a seat for yourself. Bonus if you can snag a table for more than two people. It's a great problem for them to have, and I'm so grateful that such a fantastic local spot does so well, I just wish that as they expanded they created more space for folks to sit, or perhaps offered table service and/or seated people just to cut down on the chaos during peak hours. That might not lend into the laid back atmosphere they are trying to foster, but it would make my Saturdays less stressful :-) At any rate, I can't recommend McLain's more if you're looking for a stellar local bakery and lunch spot. If you do play the game of finding a table, an extra challenge is to try and leave without purchasing a chocolate chip cookie. You get about 100 bonus points if you do because they are so delicious, it's truly hard to not indulge.

In the storied enclave of Waldo, where the rhythm of Kansas City pulses with a quiet, neighborly…read morecharm, there stands a sanctuary not of silent stone, but of flour, butter, and memory: McLain's Bakery. To step through its threshold is to surrender to the siren song of warmth that curls from the oven like a whispered secret. I have made it my pilgrimage to traverse the entirety of their menu, a culinary odyssey that has yielded no false steps, only a symphony of consistency that borders on the miraculous. Each offering, from the flaky, golden architecture of their pastries to the robust, honest comfort of their savory fare, is a testament to the artisan's hand. Here, affordability is not a sacrifice of quality but a generous invitation, a rare confluence where the exquisite meets the accessible. There is a certain magic in the air at McLain's, a sweetness that feels woven into the very fabric of the establishment. It is a place that understands the language of comfort, speaking it fluently in the dialect of a perfect crust or the rich, dark notes of a expertly pulled espresso. It is perhaps no surprise that such a bastion of authentic delight has garnered a reputation that extends far beyond our local borders; if the standard of excellence is high enough to grace the plate of Taylor Swift, then surely, it is more than enough for us, the grateful residents who claim this treasure as our own. Yet, beyond the flour-dusted counters and the glowing glass cases, my deepest admiration is reserved for their spirit. In a world that often measures worth in cold, transactional metrics, McLain's chooses to honor those who pour themselves into the future of our community. As a teacher, I feel that recognition in the small gestures, the welcoming nods, and the genuine appreciation they extend to educators. It is a profound kindness, a recognition that the work of shaping minds requires nourishment, both intellectual and literal. They understand that a classroom is a marathon, and they act as the essential pit stop, providing the fuel that keeps the light of inquiry burning bright. To dine at McLain's is to participate in a ritual of belonging. It is a place where the passage of time is marked not by the ticking of a clock, but by the turning of the oven trays. It is a reliable heartbeat in the neighborhood, steadfast and true, offering a reprieve from the clamor of the outside world. Whether one seeks a quiet moment of reflection over a cup of coffee or a celebratory feast that honors the simple, profound joy of eating well, McLain's remains an unrivaled steward of taste. It is not merely a bakery; it is the living, breathing soul of Waldo, a place where every bite serves as a reminder that some things in this life are exactly as good as they ought to be.

I went for the pistachio honey latte (I'm a sucker for pistachio!) and snagged the last veggie quiche of the morning around 11am. Both were absolutely delicious and perfect for breakfast. My friend had the rosewater croissant and a strawberry matcha iced latte--both equally unique and delightful. Despite being a bustling Saturday morning, the staff was incredibly kind and efficient. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a cozy spot no matter the weather. For parking, I'd recommend Westport Road or 40th Street (west of Main) and taking a short walk. Preordering whole quiches, tarts, cookies, cupcakes may require 48 hours' notice. Enchanté is more than just a bakery--it's a little slice of magic in Kansas City. I can't wait to go back and try more seasonal goodies!
