I appreciate the fact that the cupcakes are pretty. And that they are popular. But I just have to say.... objectively, these are not good cupcakes. At least not for what they purport to be. They taste and feel like cupcakes from a grocery store. The actual cake tastes as if it is a box cake mix. The filling is goopy and artificial. I don't see any way it is not from a bucket. The buttercream tasted like a raw stick of butter. For the price, this is the most disappointed I've ever been in a bakery. Really, really too bad. So my daughter requested a cupcake after her 4 yr shots at the doctor. I had some delicious gourmet cupcakes a few years ago from another bakery so decided to try fat cupcake. $11 for 3 cupcakes, ok.... If they're as good as the previous ones I'd had no problem. But these looked and tasted like my kids made them a couple days ago.... This was not a good value, go to Fred Meyer or Safeway for as good or better for a 1/3 of the price. So disappointed. Dry cake, not all flavorful, lacking in filling. Overpriced. Regular size $3.25 each at $35.75/Doz. Mini $1.75 each at $19.25/Doz First time to Fat Cupcake so I was super excited after all the positive reviews. I asked for freshly baked cupcakes and was told that all cupcakes were baked fresh daily, so I purchased an assortment of big size and small size in different flavors. Half the cupcakes tasted like day old box cake, dry with top of cake being tough and chewy (overbaked) and not moist or fresh tasting at all. The butter cream frosting was thick and not overly sweet, but even the frosting couldn't save the cupcake. Regular size didn't have a true filling, centered inside the cupcake, it's small amount inserted near top of cake underneath frosting. - LEMON DOODLE (White Cake, Snickerdoodle, Light Lemon Buttercream) had good burst of lemon flavor but was dry. - PRETTY IN PINK (Pink Champagne Cake, White Chocolate Mousse Filling, Vanilla Buttercream) soft texture but artificial tasting flavor - GRANDFATHER CLOCK (Chocolate Cake, German Chocolate Topping, Chocolate Buttercream) soft texture, chewy coconut but not real chocolate flavor - RASPBERRY REX (Chocolate Cake, Raspberry, Chocolate Buttercream) did not taste raspberry and not real chocolate flavor - Seasonal HOT COCOA. Beautifully decorated with a hot cup of cocoa theme but was dry and flavorless, mostly cocoa powder I would guess and not real chocolate. Worst one of the batch. Will not be going back. read more

Not the location I'll ever recommend nor will I ever go here again. Tried this location for the third time now and once again wasted the trip on dried (more than likely old) cupcakes. I saw people going back for thirds and fourths. (maybe more) The owner was so amazing to work with. She is so kind and welcoming when you go into the store. This is by far my favorite cupcake bakery. I have tried all of the "popular" cupcake places and am always disappointed, but Fat Cupcake never disappoints. The cake texture is perfect; spongy, light & soft and the flavors are sublime. Our family favorites are the Yellow Submarine (Banana), Lemon Doodle and Charlie Brown. I called Fat Cupcake on a Thursday morning to see if I could order a cake for my mom's 70th birthday party on Saturday. They were so helpful and assured me that it wouldn't be a problem at all to get it in time on Saturday morning for the party! They went over the kinds of cakes they had, and within minutes I had the cake ordered, set to pick up Sat AM. When Saturday morning arrived, we picked the cake up and it was gorgeous! Beautifully decorated and exactly what I had envisioned. My mom's birthday party was a success, all compliments were about the cake! It was the most delicious cake I have ever had.
