We went around 730 pm so there was plenty of street parking. Small place so very convenient to order, grab, and go. Ordered the lamb and chicken gyro platter. They gave me white sauce and hot sauce on the side. The portion was generous and the food was made fresh and tasted delicious. Service was good, greeted as soon as I came in. read more

I have gotten Moe's twice recently and both times were very good! I got the chicken shawarma platter both times and I was not disappointed. The chicken was very flavorful and they pack it in there. The lettuce, tomatoes, and onions were fresh and added brightness to the platter. The rice was perfectly cooked. The platter comes together with a white sauce, but the hot sauce packs a super flavorful punch. I'm looking forward to making Fat Moe's a regular part of my food rotation. read more

Tried to order and was told they closed at 9pm. (Mind you it's 8:55pm) idc 5 mins of service wouldn't kill anyone. When online it says they'd be open until 10:45pm. So disappointing considering I've been craving this food. I guess I know where I won't be going hours before close god forbid I look at their hours and attempt to order accordingly. read more

Been here a few times and I usually get the gyro platter which is solid and very filling. I always wanted to get the gyro sandwich so I got the gyro sandwich yesterday and it was solid as well. It looks small but it is packed with gyro meat. For the price which was about $9.58 including tax, I would opt to get the platter. I will be coming back but only for the platter. * white sauce they use is NOT tzatziki sauce, it's the halal style white sauce. read more

This place is clean, quick, and pretty decent. We tried the beef shawerma sandwich, the chicken shawerma sandwich, and the fries. Their sandwiches were packed with meat, which was tender and flavorful. The side order of fries was huge. Us two people couldn't finish them all. They cooked the food while we waited (about 15-20 minutes). We definitely recommend this cute little place in Hawthorne. They have a variety of food, drinks, etc. We will be regulars. read more

I recently moved to jersey from nyc and one of things I missed the most is halal food. This place really hits the spot, the gyro platter is really good. The rice and meat is seasoned really well. The white sauce passes the test but the hot sauce is weak. The price isn't nyc prices but the 13 bucks you pay you get a pretty generous amount. Definitely good to coming back. read more

Ordered delivery yesterday. I had to feed my mother-in-law at lunchtime and she's partial to Mediterranean food. I had brought her to work with me and she can't walk well, so we couldn't leave the building at lunchtime. We shared a mixed platter and a couple of orders of spinach pie, and she was delighted. The spinach pie was light, delicate and delightful. The mixed grill was juicy. They gave us two things of sauce so we had more than enough. Delivery was fast & friendly. This was the most delicious falafel I ever ate (and I'm middle eastern). All the food... the falafel, pita, hummus, grape leaves were made from the freshest ingredients. I ordered a falafel sandwich and didn't even know the garlic white sauce and garlic hot sauce (both superb) were in the bag. It was such a moist and herb-filled delight with just the pita and lettuce, that I devoured it. It didn't need any sauce, because it was that good!! I'm not usually a fan of falafel as it is usually made poorly with few herbs and over fried and dry and not made with the freshest ingredients. Freshness is key to all food, and middle eastern food is no exception. In fact, authentic middle eastern food must be fresh otherwise would be rejected as no good. The pita was so fresh and they included several of them to accompany our made to order vegetarian platter. Being vegetarian, we asked if they could make us a platter with hummus and dolma. Wow, we used the pita as shovels to dip into the absolutely creamy and delicious hummus. It was so fresh and flavorful and not greasy. We make our own hummus at home regularly as the store bought kind is not palatable. This was incredible hummus. The dolma was also out of this world. The grape leaves were so fresh and delicate and it was not acidic; again, some of the best I have eaten in my life which says a lot since I've eaten some incredible homemade dolma in my life. Finally, we ordered French fries. I think they were double fried the French way and they tasted like potatoes. They were so delicious and addictive. We ate too much as the food demanded it, everything being so delicious and fresh and homemade. We live almost an hour drive away. Really good platters spot in the area. I like that the platters weren't covered in grease from grill. They do care about the quality of each platter as it is made. The price point is a bit higher than other spots nearby. It was quiet when we walked into the building. Very clean and respectable service. They did admit another spot had good platters which must have been tough to say but I admired their humbleness. I didn't get to try their shakes or dessert but it looked good. Definitely will return again if I am in the area. read more

The owner is very nice and has an amazing memory. I went for the first time last year and he forgot to put in my dessert. I decided to stop by today and he forgot again so i said something and he was like I forgot last year too and gave me two desserts. The babaganoush is other worldly. I wish I liked the fallafel filling but I don't. The platter with chicken is good. The white sauce is a tad too sweet for me almost tasted like ranch. Overall its a good welcoming place. read more

Wow I was so excited to have a new platters in town and finally tried it today. We got a mixed platter, spinach pie and meat pie and some other items. Disappointment isn't even the word. The meat in the platters was tough and chewey.. The white sauce was disgusting, it's like they use some off brand dollar store mayo. The meat pies were dry and flavorless and the spinach pie was depressingly sour. Tabouli and fattoush salads were ok in flavor but didn't seem fresh and were super watery. Unfriendly guy at the counter also. I'm floored. This place tastes like someone's learning to cook but hasn't figured it out quite yet. We have such amazing halal food around like house of platters in haledon and of course juicy platters in Fair lawn... Like how can this place even call itself a platters place? Recently ordered some take out from this new place. I hope they work on improving because I would love to have a great Mediterranean place in town. I got hummus, grape leaves and a gyro sandwich. The hummus had a weird aftertaste and I wound up tossing it out. The grape leaves were lacking flavor. I've been eating stuffed grape leaves from various cultures for more than 40 years. These were very bland. Disappointing. The gyro was so overstuffed with very chopped up meat that I couldn't eat it as a sandwich. It was more appropriately spiced, but needed more balance of veg to meat and more sauce to balance the onions/garlic. Overall, not comparable to other area Mediterranean restaurants. But I do hope they work on it and improve. read more

The gyro can be a big hit or miss sometimes. It's been mostly good when I've gotten it. The fries have just the right amount of crunch. The hot sauce is too smoky and detracts from the flavor of the meet. The platters are pretty big but the rice is just kinda meh. The lamb gyro is my recommendation. I tried the beef sandwich once but it was doused in hummus, I couldn't taste the beef at all. Moe (or whomever the manager is most nights) is super friendly and welcoming. read more

Could be better. Folks are pleasant, but I got a beef shawarma, and it was pretty underwhelming. A little beef and VERY little by way of vegetables. The thing was flat as a pancake. Felt like a flimsy Starbucks offering. No frills. I recommend, for $6, you fatten it up slightly. shove some extra veggies in there! Taste was good. This place is great! But I say 4 stars because I wasn't amazed.......but that could be because my friends built the hype up that much. Either way I will be returning Combo shawarma? It hit the spot! Why I say 4 stars? It's the little things that most businesses do, that this place did not. My friend had issues with phone orders n delivery....sad part it's less than 1/4 mile away from his place and the delivery took close to an hour That said, I made my order inside. It was on point, hot & tasty at home, and large enough for two meals. Hot sauce was a tad too much fire for me. The little things that other businesses provide that they didn't and can easily change. When I asked for white sauce and hot sauce. They said "pour your own over there". Good, if you like a a lot of it. Bad if you are in a rush. Most businesses have it already in little containers, here? Nope. Put it in your own little container. Overall, food was great! But not at the 5 star point. Maybe bcs hype was over built from friends and their pics trying to make me jealous, or it really wasn't 5 star. That said, you be judge and check it out. Overpriced, and food at best is average. I ordered the chicken shawarma not all that great I've definitely have had better, the chicken had too much of a seasoning going on. The order was still wrong after having her reiterate it to me before we hung up, she was rude as well. Delivery was supposed to be 40 mins ended up being over an hour, didn't apologize so we didn't tip. read more

Let me start by saying that Al Basha takeout has a wonderfully efficient order-number-based system for managing the hundreds of orders they get on a daily basis. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The chicken was a little dry but luckily they give a side of garlic yogurt. Also I added some hot sauce to up the taste. The size was good too. Oddly they dont offer water, but have bottles for purchase. The server forgot the waters but did help with picking food. I also noticed others doing Hookah with their dinner which was a neat add on for a special occasion.

I was fine with that and appreciated the considerate note. The large salad was packed with fresh ingredients like romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, black olives, feta, and stuffed grape leaves. The cheese was mild and not too salty, but was more creamy and light. The large chunks of chicken were incredibly tender and well-marinaded. It was really a great salad! I heard positive reviews from my companion about the Chicken Shish Kabob Sandwich, as well. I was glad that I gave Gyro Grill another chance, because it impressed me with its flavorful food and friendly staff.
