This was my first time at Fat Moe's. It was a Saturday at noon. Very friendly staff helped me order the chicken shawarma platter. There's only three tables but there are many seats at the counter. I enjoyed my meal while watching soccer on the television and listening to electronic dance music. I've never eaten anything shawarma related so it was surprisingly delicious. Stopped at Fat Moe's for a late lunch / early dinner after a long hot Memorial Day Parade in nearby Saddle Brook -- very, VERY glad we did! We got gyros, chicken kebab, fried mac-n-cheese bites (yes), and baba ghanoush: all was fantastic. The side salads with tzatiki were fresh and the rice was good. The baba ghanoush had a tad too much tahini (slightly off in its eggplant-tahini ratio), but still tasted fresh and great for dipping pita. Went here about a month ago and got a falafel sandwich. Not bad at all. Not better than any spot in South Paterson but it was pretty decent. I went today for a mix platter of beef shawarma and falafel. No. Wasn't good. The long strips of beef didn't have flavor. It was chewy. All it had was salt n pepper. Rice was underwhelming. Falafel was okay although a bit too crunchy. At least the lettuce was fresh and pita wasn't stale. The white sauce is basically ranch and the hot sauce wasn't that spicy. Just moved into town not too long ago so I decided to give this place a try. My girlfriend and I were beyond impressed on not only the food but the A1 service from Moe himself and his co-worker. I decided to buy the gyro platter and my girlfriend [who btw hasn't eaten a gyro in about 5 years] bought just the gyro. needless to say this spot is now one of our favorites. Best restaurant ever all employees were the most friendly I have encountered and the food was amazing highly recommend falafel is the best falafel I have had wayyy better then juicy platter and halal guys. Evening was getting late the other night. Not many options for something good, quick and inexpensive. Been reading about Fat Moe's on the local Facebook site so we decided to give it a try. I am soooo glad we did! We love middle eastern food and usually have to drive to Paterson to get good stuff. Now we have this right here in our town! We both ordered the beef shawarma. It was really really good. Great taste. And the white sauce and hot red sauce just made it even better. Would highly recommend both sauces. The environment is very very simple. But sometimes that doesn't matter. The food makes up for it. We capped it off with the rice pudding. Best I've ever had. Very custardy. And the prices just make it that much better. Alright guys let me start with the food is just amazing absolutely fantastic!!!!! We live next town over but absolutely we'll worth the 10 minute drive! So when we walked in there a young man named (junior) spotted that might be our first time he introduced his self and took the time to explain everything on the menu to give us the best idea for our order he had asked ever been to juicy or halal guys as I responded yes he had said okay perfect we are very similar just one thing I promise the food is 10x better (love the confidence of the young man (junior you rock) so he recommend combination platter of chicken and beef shawarma and another platter of chicken. Kebab and beef kebab platter my family and I were amazed how good it was with the great sauce on the side ! Also got a appetizer of Hummus and falafel and we finished everything on our plate falafel was nice and crispy on the outside and so tasty and soft in the inside Fat Moes we could say outstanding job defiantly will be back and young man named junior thank you for your absolutely kind service absolutely professional you would think his the owner of the place !!! We ordered a Gyro platter, the Kibbeh appetizer, Hummus appetizer, spinach pies and baklava. The gyro platter was perfect, it's hard to mess that up, right. Gyro meat, lettuce tomato, served on top of seasoned rice with a side of tzatziki sauce. Very good, my husband devoured it, with the usual gusto he displays at the Greek festival or House of Platters (which he also loves) - it was on point. The kibbeh. Oh. My. Goodness. Perfection. The delicious spices combined with the perfect bulgur wheat breading and tzatziki sauce for dipping, made me very happy. Delicious hummus with a generous portion of pita. Freshly prepared and tahini-forward, just the way I like it. The spinach pies were wonderful, warm and aromatic. The baklava was absolutely perfect. It was distinctively delightful. Place was a huge waste of money. Not only are the three times overpriced but the quality of the food they make is terrible and fatty. The meat they say is shawarma is not true. Shawarma is cooked a different way than this place does, and the meat turns out to be flavorless. If they did change this up, the place could turn around but it's missing key components in owning a successful business because they can't generate a flavor to their food. To be honest was probably the worst Arabic food I have ever had.
