Nice big restaurant with plenty of seating, great for a quiet date night. Went for dinner and only had one other group eating. Tad odd for a Friday night. Waiters took our orders quick but once the food came? We had to ask twice for more Sangak Bread since we ordered 3 different hummus. And originally only came with maybe 5 pieces of bread total which def wasn't enough for a party of 5 and 3 big plates of hummus. THE DRAMA- A waitress or the owner? She was holding a plate that I assume was my stew and I said that's mines and she automatically said no it's not mines...hmm ok my fault...yet turns out it was mines...she wasn't the person who took my order yet assumed it wasn't mines nor asked "did you order Gheymeh Bademjoon?" I found that off putting but shrugged it off, maybe I was just starving from not enough bread for all that hummus which was freaken delicious. We had a few main entrees and everything was tasty and def authentic with all those unique flavors. I did put the hummus over my rice for extra flavor, didn't want to toss them out. I really enjoyed my meal here! I had the kebab and I really wanted tahdig and they were so nice they let me have that instead of the usual rice on the side. And it was delicious! Yes I know it is supposed to go with a stew or wetter based meal but I wanted it and I wanted kebab! Haha. And I was so happy with my meal! The kebab was moist and tender and wonderfully seasoned. This was our first time here and it will not be our last. I had the barley soup as an opener and it was delicious. It was nice and thick and very satisfying for a winter night. The sausage bandari was tasty and very generous. I ended up having enough for my lunch the next day. We can't wait to come back and try other things. read more

Seriously the rudest service we have ever encountered in a restaurant anywhere. We ordered Fesenjoon which did not resemble the menu description in any way and was not to our liking. We advised the waiter that we found it distasteful and wanted to send it back and order something else. We ordered a kebab plate that was very good, as was the Mediterranean salad. When we asked for the bill, he first brought us the wrong one, apologized and brought our bill. The plate we returned was still on the bill and he refused to remove it claiming that we should have told him sooner. First of all, he was unavailable to tell him and second, although we had just taken a bite each, he claimed that we had eaten it so it could not be returned. When I complained, he insolently said that he would pay for the meal himself and told us to just get out and never come back, which is what I did and will do. The manager apologized to my wife after I left to fetch the car but the damage had already been done. The restaurant is lovely. The menu is interesting but be aware that some things may not be to your liking but apparently you are obliged to just eat it and not criticize unless you can deal with being insulted. There are many good restaurant choices in Ridgewood. IMO, this is not one of them. read more

We had been wanting to try Rose since it opened. We went today and had their amazingly priced lunch specials. My friend had to beef stew and I had the chicken wrap. Both were amazing. The hummus is the best I've had in New Jersey. So good. Not gritty. The falafel which they made for us when we asked, not on their lunch special, was outstanding. I love falafel and I will be getting these again. Not pictured because we ate it too fast was the complimentary light white cake. So amazing. I didn't even realize I had more room left, but we finished it. I am excited for them to be here. Sam was our waiter and he was sweet, attentive and informative. We did not meet the owner, Said, who is also the chef, but I hope he reads this. We had a wonderful lunch and look forward to coming back. read more

The food was good service was good the only reason why I'm giving them a 2 star is because they're trying to be sneaky with extra charges which is a VERY BIG NO NO for me. Just keep an eye out the moment you sit down there will be a sparkling water bottle already in the table make sure you don't drink it because it is not free and $9 per bottle. Hidden gem. This is a Persian restaurant and it has such a homey vibe. The food is consistently good, the servers are always nice, and this place is never crowded. The chicken is well seasoned and juicy. The rice is so light. When I leave I'm always full but not to the point I need to take a nap. If you are in the area give this place a try. read more

I see the reviews from years ago and is not sure. This restaurant reopened in place of Chinese dim sum place which was there for years. We had been there at least 4 times since they opened and every time left happy. Food is very tasty and fresh, I ordered Barg (file mignon) and my husband loves jujeh kebab (Cornish hen). Meat in both dishes is tender and juicy. I also love chicken fesenjan (stew). Appetizers are all great, but my favorite ones are kashke bademjan (eggplant) and dolmeh (grape leaves stuffed with rice in lemon juice and vinegar). Persian ice cream is a favorite dessert. My girl friends and I had lunch today at Rose and it was FABULOUS! Best Persian food in Ridgewood and surrounding area. Food was not over-spiced, as sometimes I taste garlic for hours and get an upset stomach. It was fresh and "clean" prepared and served hot. The lunch special is a little pricey but worth the extra $$ for quality! The staf was so friendly and even accommodated a special request for a falafel wrap (my friend wanted vegetarian option). It was the best she'd had, even better than her previous favorite RW Persian eatery. The good news is I brought home leftovers and will enjoy it again for lunch tomorrow!! read more

Rose Persian Restaurant is a delight for the palate. Reading the menu you get the feeling of being in an exotic land far away. The names of the dishes are interesting and the mix of ingredients and spices are even more fun. I went with someone who has been to Rose many times, so they were able to guide me to their favorites. The restaurant is simply adorned with crystal chandeliers, white table cloths and purple curtains. You just know the restaurant is not owned by native Americans, but rather by a lovely couple straight from the native homeland of Iran. They have been in the United States for 21 years now. So it's authentic! They have a large parking lot in the back. Our appetizer was a blend of eggplant, onions, garlic, mint and walnuts that you too with a lemony yogurt and powdered sumac. The combination of flavors explode in your mouth, so interesting. The chicken kebab too was seasoned to perfection. We also tried the koofteh. It was a tasty combination of ground beef, rice, fresh herbs, egg, yellow spit peas, tomato paste, plums and sautéed onions. Sweet and savory! I would love to go back and try more appetizers and entrees to tickle my palate. We had so much fun in this unique restaurant and the owner was thrilled to watch us enjoy her native, home cooked food. read more

We had an exceptionally good meal here last weekend. It was our first time there - cute place, nicely decorated, very open. Wasn't overly crowded for a Friday night, but there were at least 4-5 other tables eating. We got the babaghanosh appetizer, and it was large and delicious. I had the barg kabob, my husband had the chicken kabob. Both were phenomenal - really juicy, fantastic flavor. I got mine with the shirazi salad, my husband got his with the basmati rice, and we shared. That's definitely the right call - the basmati rice was enormous and more than enough for 2, same with the salad, so we each were able to have both with our main dish. Had a lovely lunch at Shandiz Rose Restaurant. It's a nicely decorated new Persian restaurant on Franklin Ave in Ridgewood. My family and I started with the hummus, pita bread, eggplant app and stuffed grape leaves. All were very good. For lunch we had the salmon kebabs, ground beef and lamb kebabs with rice and Shirazi salad. Everything was delicious! I especially liked the spice on the meat kebabs! The service was very attentive. Good part: meat tastes good and juicy. The service is warm, and they have parking on the back of the building. Reason for 2-stars that I will not come back: 1. You can see from the photo, there is just half tomato besides of the rice and meat. It would be better if it is fried rice or with some peppers and onions, or at least some sauce. 2. Considering the quality and quantity of the food, i think the price is a little bit high. I have tried much better with lower price. 3. It asks for minimum 15% tips - written on the receipt. So glad Rose is back in an amazing location. The space is appealing to dine in although I am a regular for take out. Undoubtably, this is the best, most authentic Persian food in Northern New Jersey. None of the other Persian restaurants in Ridgewood come remotely close to the quality here. Their kabob barg (regular order) is seasoned spectacularly and the flavors of their ghormeh sabzi is second to none for a restaurant in the US. Being halal is a big plus for the area where there are only a few options. Their salads and appetizers are excellent as well. Desserts are authentic, I particularly enjoy their faloodeh. I would pass on their tahdig, it's a bit too oily for my taste. Service is decent for a family run business. I wish they were open later on weeknights. I cannot recommend Rose enough, if you have any doubts about going here, just go, you'll have a lovely culinary experience. read more

Robbery in broad daylight. A can of soda costs $4, and a small cup of tea also costs $4. The two of us opted for the cheapest meal with a can of soda each. In the end, after adding two cups of tea and tips, we ended up paying over $80, and they were pushing us to have dessert. The restaurant was empty. After paying and leaving, we realized why--the restaurant wasn't up to par, whereas all the other restaurants around were packed. Make sure you don't get ripped off like we did. read more

I have no idea how this place is not more popular as a great halal restaurant. We went as a group of 3 for iftar. We were initially the only customers for a while and I thought it was because the restaurant wasn't nice. Then we tried one of their soups (Ash Reshteh), lamb shank, lamb chops and one of their stews (Khoresh Gheymeh with Bademjan). We then tried their amazing homemade saffron and rosewater ice cream. 5 stars for a very friendly service. The food was 2 stars. I had the vegetarian ghormeh sabzi, which was saltless, watery, tasteless. It was like a soup with a few mushroom pieces and a few beans. Didn't feel like a stew for sure. The albaloo polo was okay. Saltless again. The kashk bademjan was good, but very salty. My husband liked his lamb shank a lot. The overall decor and setup was below average. For New Jersey standards, I guess it's considered good. Since everyone is raving about this place, I'll go back to try salmon kebab. I came here for lunch, which is nice because the restaurant has $8-15 lunch specials. We ordered the hummus appetizer to split, which was pretty good. I got the kebabs with rice. it was also pretty delicious. And the portion was just right for lunch. We didn't have room for dessert. The waitress was friendly enough, maybe a bit too apologetic because the table was small and she kept apologizing as she moved the plates around. We kept having to say, "It's fine." We came around 8pm, they start you off with what seems to be toasted Tortillas and yogurt, not pita bread or any other type of fresh Mediterranean/Middle Eastern bread, but good ole Mission brand flour tortillas and yogurt. Ordered the Chicken and Cornish Hen kebab plates, portion size was ok but it was mainly flavorless yellow rice,(If you love rice, this is the place for you) plates came with half a tomato, meat and bunch of rice, for the price they should of added Hummus and a salad.
