The Fat Shack is a perfect addition to LFK and makes me look forward to the END of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Cheers to new beginnings literally!!! I started my Sunday off right with a frozen tropical storm and a small fat doobie; although I did sub the mozzarella sticks for jalapeño poppers! The tropical storm is a hurricane with a twist, I think it's a little too strong (I'm also a light weight) and I'm sure most college students will not agree. The Fat doobie comes with honey mustard, a spicy ranch or mustard would give this sandwich a better kick; the honey mustard was a little too sweet in my opinion. I also wish some of the featured items in the sandwich were made fresh like the chicken tenders or onion rings BUT it's a wonderful concept; I'm sure there will be no complaints from customers coming in after nights at the club. The fries will quickly become a Lawrence favorite because they are battered for extra crispiness! The customer service is A1 and the cashier is very knowledgeable about the menu. He was able explain what was in every shot and helped me decide on what to drink. The cheesecake bites definitely saved the day because they are amazing!!! I have no doubt all of the desserts are just as good and that I'll be in here trying them on my cheat days, because this place is called FAT SHACK for a reason(:

Battered fries, be sure to ask for more ketchup, probably 3.

I decided to try Fat Shack based on Yelp reviews and a recommendation from a coworker. Maybe I should've ordered what they had instead, lol. I love wings--bone in, so I decided to try the 6 pieces lemon pepper wings with fries. First off, they came out a little darker than I like. Then I noticed a wing that should've barely been considered a wing. I ate that one first, pretty good but the lemon pepper was a little over baring. So I take a bite of one of the normal sized wings and it wasn't done--see pics. Instantly nauseous. So I didn't have the energy to go back up there and be bothered with a discussion about the wings. I finished my fries which were good--they're battered. Then I ordered the funnel cakes bites with strawberry sauce--forgot to get pics THE BEST THING YET--and put a smile on my face. I'm not sure if I'm going to give the food a second chance but I will definitely go back for the desserts. I may just have to stick with Fat Shack in Chicago.

One of the very few places open past 10pm on a Saturday downtown. You order at the counter and they call out your name when your food is ready. There were probably 10 tables already seated and about 6 groups ahead of us waiting to order. Something strange was that the wings didn't have a set price and just said "market price" which is very weird to me. I have seen that for seafood before, but never chicken wings. They called out our name about 15 minutes after ordering. We got 6 traditional wings, 6 Parmesan garlic wings, a small Fat Chance, and an order of fries. The total was almost $30! That "market price" was rough! Basically seemed like solid intoxicated food. But, we were sober so it just seemed a little too salty and overpriced.

This restaurant is appropriately named due to its menu of huge sandwiches which can come with cheesesteak, chicken fingers, fries, jalapeño poppers and more. The cheesesteak is delicious and it might take you a few days to eat the large.

WORST food ever! Ordered some Cajun pepper rub tenders and they addso much seasoning so people can get sick of the saltiness and never come back. So i guess mission accomplished, asked for a refund or replacement and they dont do refunds and asked me to go back... AT 1:40AM?! Who tf does that... what a sh**t establishment its tenders!! Like who f's that up?? Get your stuff together omg

Finally! I was told by quite a few people to try this place for an off the wall not normal sandwich experience. Definitely achieved that and can honestly say too much of a good thing is possible. I ordered the fat jersey which consists of Philly steak, chicken tenders, fries, and honey mustard sauce. Though unique, even a small sandwich is too much of the fried side of things. None of the flavors stood over the rest. The honey mustard sauce was nice to help it go down and not be so dry. Prices were high. 30$ for 2 small sandwiches and 2 sodas. Won't go out of my way to return but may check out again if in the neighborhood and someone else brings it up

Great burger with fast friendly service. I would recommend the fries over the rings but that's me.

Food was good, but after I saw a comment the manager made online I lost all interest in eating here. They can do better.

It was difficult to decide which I wanted. It was like an assembly line of perfect little treats. The staff was very nice and helpful. The selection seemed endless and they had drinks in cans that were delicious. I had a very difficult time choosing which I was going to try. There is a seating area in the rear of the restaurant. It was full of happy people eating pastries and chatting. It was a perfect setting. I had heard about this place for years but never ventured inside. I regret not going to this lovely place sooner. I will definitely go back and recommend. I guess this is a franchise business with locations all over the US. I am just glad we have one in Lawrence. Still... WOW!

Couldn't believe it when I a friend told me this place has been in operation for years. Guess I need to venture over to Lawrence from Topeka more often! While not the case across the board, we found a number of the items we selected to be on par with the quality of treats we enjoy while visiting France. Needless to say I will be wearing out the Turnpike making return visits to this real gem.

We got six flavors to try and here's our ratings (refer to photo). Pandan Coconut - 10/10, our fav by a long shot!!!! Bavarian - 6.5/10, needed a bit more flavor but we loved the creaminess. Strawberry Rhubarb - 6/10 (I liked it more than my partner but he's not a big strawberry fan, worth trying for sure!!). Everything Donut - 7/10, a little in the salty side but fun to try for sure!! Classic Cinnamon - 7/10, light, fluffy and airy. Nutella - 4/10, the Nutella was super thick inside this so you have to strategically plan your bites so you're getting and even amount of donut to Nutella ratio, my first bite was like eating a big spoonful of peanut butter, obviously tasty tho Nutella is delish. We would definitely come back!! Getting two coconut next time though!

I don't recommend the savory donuts. I've tried the everything bagel flavor and it was way too salty. I dusted off most of the flavoring and it was still very salty. The sweet donuts are better. I also like the plain sourdough donut ($4) with no filling because I don't have much of a sweet tooth. My favorite flavor is the pandan one because it's not too sweet (saying "it's not too sweet" is a meme but also kind of an ultimate compliment for Chinese taste buds). I recently went on at 8:30 am on a Friday, waited in line for about 20 minutes and was able to buy the donuts I wanted. They always have a line but it seems like you can still have a solid chance of getting donuts if you line up to an hour even after opening. They also have some batch drinks on tap, a nice space with enough seating, and even some board games and books.

The restaurant itself is beautiful inside -- a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. We mentioned it was our first visit, so I was a bit surprised there wasn't much guidance on the menu or any recommendations. At one point I asked about the two kinds of fries (I love fries!), and the explanation was simply that they were "fancy fries," without much detail on flavors or differences. We started with drinks and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The sprouts were actually very good, with a nice balance in the sauce, and both the wine and sangria were refreshing. Unfortunately, dinner is where things went downhill. Our meals -- a steak and a gluten-free chicken sandwich -- took about 45 minutes to arrive, which felt long for relatively simple dishes. I had asked about the gluten-free bun since they can sometimes be dry, but didn't receive much insight beyond "it's gluten free," and sadly it was indeed very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor, though the goat cheese cilantro sauce helped make it somewhat enjoyable. The fries looked homemade and delicious but arrived cold. The steak was cooked as requested, but it didn't have much flavor beyond the mushrooms on top. The broccoli side was tasty, and the potatoes were good, though it on a bed of Some kind of cheese sauce that wasn't quite to our liking. Overall, the space and gluten-free availability were promising, and the appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, but the food execution and service details didn't quite meet expectations for us this visit.
