I was feeling like breakfast for dinner and Perkins was right around the corner so we decided to go. Haven't been to Perkins for years and will probably be a while before we go back. Savannah was our server and as she started out great, once we got our food she disappeared. My husband asked for extra mayo on his burger and it came with none. He chose to wait to ask for a side but nearly 10 minutes later our server was no where to be seen. I was a sever for years and always checked in after the 2 bites rule. I finished my meal by the time she came back. We had to flag down a manager who got the mayo and refilled both our empty drinks. I got a chocolate shake and it was very runny. It was more like drinking chocolate milk. Husband said his burger was good but my build your own breakfast was meh. Pancakes were dry, I was also going to ask for extra butter but decided to just eat rather than wait on our server. I liked the quiet dining room and it was very clean inside.

My first outing for brunch after major surgery! We know restaurants are strained-understaffed, expensive, with supply chain issues. You could see no worries at Perkins. Greeted with a smile, clean, comfortable, bright, booth ready during lunch rush, excellent happy service with Edwin. Manager checked on us. Wonderful old school dining experience! Reliable comfort menu prepared fresh and fast good price points. And FREE Monday pie!

I've been to Perkins a few times and it's always been great no matter what time it is. We were seated after 10 minutes and the house was definitely packed. Next to the window on 23rd street on a busy March Madness Saturday is definitely a place to have a great brunch. I had a taste for breakfast and lunch, so my friend and I split Brioche French toast platter including: scrambled eggs with cheese, and sausage links. Then I got the tangler burger with French fried onions, lettuce, pickles, onions, and bbq sauce. (No tomatoes for me) There's a special right now for your choice of a signature burger, that comes with fries and a slice of pie for $9.99. The brioche French toast was a little dry, but the eggs were great, I didn't eat the sausage. The burger was amazing, the fried onions made it even better. The French fries are always crispy and hot. Also the drink menu is filled with plenty of options to choose from, and I went with the raspberry ginger ale. I was far too full to indulge in my pie after attempting to eat everything, but I'll be enjoying lemon meringue later while watching the game! Rock Chalk Jayhawk KU

This is my first time at Perkins as we don't have it in Michigan. Apparently, it's a chain and it's open 24 hours. I would say being open 24 hours is a big perk especially when the food is good at a reasonable price. The decor looks like a regular casual diner and the menu has a good variety. The service was friendly and decently attentive. The food tasted like home cooking. I ordered the southern fried chicken breakfast which had fried chicken sandwiched between biscuits topped with country gravy... yum!! It came with a side of eggs, bacon and hash browns. The scrambled eggs were made perfectly. My husband ordered the brioche French toast which came with bacon and eggs. If this place was around Michigan, I would become a regular. It's good food at a good price; why not?!?

Me and my mom stopped in for lunch. I ordered the Monterey shrimp pasta and my mother ordered the meatloaf. Hoodoggie!!!! The food was awesome. My mom most loved the meatloaf gravy...and my shrimp pasta was cooked well and flavorful. Also kudos to our waitress helen. She was so friendly, bright and bubbly and most of all prompt. She made our dining experience very pleasant. Will definitely be back.

Was seated sooner than it was quoted, which was great. Wait staff was amazing. I ordered the chorizo and eggs. I give it a three out of five. It was a little on the bland side. They had some green Cholula; thar made a huge difference. Also ordered the French toast, which was a four out of five. Amazing meal! The vegan hash was also three out of five, and the same with the biscuits and gravy. The bigger issue was that the drinks were ordered at the same time as the meal. It took over 43 minutes after the drinks came for the meal to show up. The wait staff apologized for the long wait, but that was just way too long to wait for a meal. We were just about to pay for the drinks and leave when the food actually came to the table. The ambience of the place has a nice hometown feel to it, but the turnaround time on meals was entirely too long. I wanted to try some more things out of the pastry case, but because of the long wait, I had to get back on my way. If I ever did stop back by, I'd have the French toast again, but I definitely tried some of the other things in the pastry case that looked rather delicious.

This trip so far has been the extreme opposite. We came to the hotel at 12:30 hoping to be able to check in a little early. We had hoped to change clothes and freshen up before a meeting with University of Kansas officials and a subsequent dinner with them. There is no school going on at KU as commencement was the previous week. There were only six cars in the hotel garage. We have never been treated so rudely by a hotel's front desk personnel. I also asked when the room might be available and was told 4:00. She made no effort to look anything up or accommodate us in any way. Very disappointing.

The room I stayed in had plaster and paint peeling off of the wall in the bathroom. It also just felt very sparse--no carpet, no rug. The bed was only half made. Other reviewers have mentioned odd noises at night, which I also experienced. The service at the restaurant is absolutely terrible. I waited about 50 minutes after ordering breakfast. My order included a cup of coffee. After about 25 minutes, the lone server came over and explained that she had many things to do before she'd get to the coffee order and could I just get some coffee from the lobby instead? What?? You're serving breakfast and you can't just pour me a cup of coffee?? I would never, ever go back to this hotel. It's truly terrible.

The decor throughout the restaurant makes a clear statement to all who come- this is a KU affair! The restaurant itself is beautiful inside -- a cozy mix of rustic and modern that creates a really inviting atmosphere. Service started a little slow, though our waitress became more attentive once she came by. We mentioned it was our first visit, so I was a bit surprised there wasn't much guidance on the menu or any recommendations. At one point I asked about the two kinds of fries (I love fries!), and the explanation was simply that they were "fancy fries," without much detail on flavors or differences. We started with drinks and the Brussels sprouts appetizer. The sprouts were actually very good, with a nice balance in the sauce, and both the wine and sangria were refreshing. Unfortunately, dinner is where things went downhill. Our meals -- a steak and a gluten-free chicken sandwich -- took about 45 minutes to arrive, which felt long for relatively simple dishes. I had asked about the gluten-free bun since they can sometimes be dry, but didn't receive much insight beyond "it's gluten free," and sadly it was indeed very dry. The chicken itself lacked flavor, though the goat cheese cilantro sauce helped make it somewhat enjoyable. The fries looked homemade and delicious but arrived cold. The steak was cooked as requested, but it didn't have much flavor beyond the mushrooms on top. The broccoli side was tasty, and the potatoes were good, though it on a bed of Some kind of cheese sauce that wasn't quite to our liking. Overall, the space and gluten-free availability were promising, and the appetizers and drinks were enjoyable, but the food execution and service details didn't quite meet expectations for us this visit.
