This was a perfect spot to get a slightly greasy but definitely filling bite to eat after a Kansas football game, within walking distance or short uber from the stadium. You walk up and order your food and there is indoor seating; this is not a restaurant where they take your order at the table. The guy at the register who took our order was very friendly, however we were surprised when we inquired what the weight of the burger patty was (ie 1/4 pounder, 1/3 lb, etc) he had absolutely no idea. We have been to Fat Shack several times. We allways went to have one of there signature drinks. But the times we went were told the person working was under age. Tonight is celebration of dec 31,2024. Everyone was out and we thought let's get one of the awesome drinks to celebrate. When we asked for a simple drink called a Tequila Sunrise. We were told they couldn't make a Margarita or a Tequila Sunrise cause they didn't have any orange juice. But we were offered some mystery shot. No thankyou Nothing was mentioned about what other drinks on the menu could be made. As many people were walking all over Lawrence standing in long lines for a drink and Fat Shack could of had a line. Guess you don't make money on your liquor sales. We won't be back. One of my favorite places to go late at night in Lawrence. It's chill, a great place to hang out, and the servers are always really fun. The food lives up to its name, as all of the food is loaded with every unhealthy thing into one sandwich, but it's so good. read more

The Fat Shack is a perfect addition to LFK and makes me look forward to the END of 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Cheers to new beginnings literally!!! I started my Sunday off right with a frozen tropical storm and a small fat doobie; although I did sub the mozzarella sticks for jalapeño poppers! The tropical storm is a hurricane with a twist, I think it's a little too strong (I'm also a light weight) and I'm sure most college students will not agree. The Fat doobie comes with honey mustard, a spicy ranch or mustard would give this sandwich a better kick; the honey mustard was a little too sweet in my opinion. I also wish some of the featured items in the sandwich were made fresh like the chicken tenders or onion rings BUT it's a wonderful concept; I'm sure there will be no complaints from customers coming in after nights at the club. The fries will quickly become a Lawrence favorite because they are battered for extra crispiness! The customer service is A1 and the cashier is very knowledgeable about the menu. He was able explain what was in every shot and helped me decide on what to drink. The cheesecake bites definitely saved the day because they are amazing!!! Good fried food. Not too greasy and crispy still even after I waited extra for the food to arrive. The only thing I was disappointed in was the delivery time. I had to wait for my order longer and the reason I chose this place was because it was close to my hotel. I didn't go to the actual restaurant just door dash. read more

Had a horrible experience here with the employee behind the counter making some extreme false allegations and causing a complete scene, which was pretty embarrassing for the franchise as a whole. I will never go back. 1st they were out of bread and I heard the guy tell the cashier that he didn't want to make them. Fine, we changed and ordered wings and drinks. The long island island tasted like soda. We tried to talk to the bartender about it and he was a total jerk. We asked if we could change to margaritas and he said no he didn't want to do that. I decided to try Fat Shack based on Yelp reviews and a recommendation from a coworker. Maybe I should've ordered what they had instead, lol. I love wings--bone in, so I decided to try the 6 pieces lemon pepper wings with fries. First off, they came out a little darker than I like. Then I noticed a wing that should've barely been considered a wing. I ate that one first, pretty good but the lemon pepper was a little over baring. So I take a bite of one of the normal sized wings and it wasn't done--see pics. Instantly nauseous. So I didn't have the energy to go back up there and be bothered with a discussion about the wings. I finished my fries which were good--they're battered. Then I ordered the funnel cakes bites with strawberry sauce--forgot to get pics THE BEST THING YET--and put a smile on my face. I'm not sure if I'm going to give the food a second chance but I will definitely go back for the desserts. I may just have to stick with Fat Shack in Chicago. read more

A few friends and I ventured to Lawrence last Saturday for some shopping. One of my friends with us had been there before and recommended Fat Shack. Now this is not a knock on Fat Shack. But when we hear about places like Fat Shack that offer ridiculous cuisine I have to go try them out! First warning, obviously do not go here if you remotely care about healthy eating. I opted for the Fat Jersey sandwich. It was, I kid you not, a sandwich that was a cheesesteak with chicken fingers, french fries, mozzarella sticks and honey mustard. It was incredibly unhealthy and incredibly delicious! Since I was already all in I decided to get the fries with cheese on top of them. These were also awesome! You have the choice of getting a small, regular or large sandwich. We all picked the regular and were surprised how big they were. We were all miserable after eating our whole sandwich and none of us could even attempt to finish our fries. I will definitely opt for a small sandwich next time. My one complaint but it will not stop me from coming back is the price. I got a regular sandwich, fries w/cheese and a drink and my total was a hair over $21! Now, I will get a small sandwich next time which would bring that down so I won't complain too much. I also left absolutely stuffed and the food was delicious! Plus living farther away it isn't somewhere I will be able to eat regularly. One of the very few places open past 10pm on a Saturday downtown. You order at the counter and they call out your name when your food is ready. There were probably 10 tables already seated and about 6 groups ahead of us waiting to order. Something strange was that the wings didn't have a set price and just said "market price" which is very weird to me. I have seen that for seafood before, but never chicken wings. They called out our name about 15 minutes after ordering. We got 6 traditional wings, 6 Parmesan garlic wings, a small Fat Chance, and an order of fries. The total was almost $30! That "market price" was rough! Basically seemed like solid intoxicated food. But, we were sober so it just seemed a little too salty and overpriced. read more

Bad and slow service. No ice in the pop machine. Had to ask twice to get some. Pop tasted gummy like the machine never gets clean. Waited sooo long to get our food we almost decided to just leave with out eating. They were short on staff for sure but the staff they did have moved at a snail's pace. I recently spent time with a 90 year old woman that moves significantly faster than they do here. Would give it negative stars if that were an option. Finally! I was told by quite a few people to try this place for an off the wall not normal sandwich experience. Definitely achieved that and can honestly say too much of a good thing is possible. I ordered the fat jersey which consists of Philly steak, chicken tenders, fries, and honey mustard sauce. Though unique, even a small sandwich is too much of the fried side of things. I was very excited to try this place. I had the Fat Cow, and my boyfriend had the Fat Chance. We thought the food was good! I also ordered a spiked shake called the "Mudslide" and it was delicious. I'm giving this place 3 stars because the person that took our order had friends come in and she said "f*** off" quite a few times as they walked in. There were children around in the place. You know when you watch a commercial for a burger place and the burger looks amazing but when you actually go to the place it looks terrible? That's not the case with Fat Shack. Their burgers look and taste great. I really enjoyed my onion rings. My dude and I also shared the Mac n Cheese bites; omg. Yum. Just yum. He got the Fat Bronco and he really liked it. Seems I never look to post a review unless it's bad. This one fits. Trying to decide if it's better than Burger King? Which is NOT good. You've read it here already from others, bland at best food.. both my BFF and I purchased the classic burger, fries, cheese sticks. Expensive, as never saw an $11 fa st food burger...$32 for ours. So you'd expect a good meal. We had to look for a clean table and place was nearly empty. No special taste whatsoever, just standard burgers and we were hungry from moving all day, so they had the best opportunity to receive a good review. Staff was friendly. Food just doesn't hack it. Way over priced and even at half that I wouldn't return. Enjoy trying ONCE because if have taste buds you won't be back. If you want GREAT burgers, try across the street. The Burger Stand...and no, not associated with either place, just if in the mood try elsewhere. Well I was in the mood for a really good burger and I wanted to try fat shack but as I've stated before being in the touristy area of downtown Lawrence I try to avoid that as much as possible. So I decided to go through door dash and have the food delivered. I ordered the single burger and I didn't want any fries or anything like that so I saw that they had funnel cake bites and I decided I would try that. The food was delivered fairly fast and it was hot, but that's pretty much all I can say about it. My burger didn't have any flavor. My palate was searching for some flavor and it just wasn't measuring up. It wasn't a bad burger it just needed a lot of flavoring. The funnel cake bites were a little over cooked they were close to being burnt so I could only eat two of them and the rest I had to throw away. This was my first time trying out fat shack and I don't know whether it's a cooking issue, or the fact that they can't make food fresh enough for it to be delivered... I don't quite know what the problem was I just know I was not very pleased. I am struggling with the decision of ever going there again. If I do I'll have to think long and hard about what I will order because if a simple burger doesn't have enough flavor and funnel cake bites are practically burnt, can I really trust ordering anything else? My only issue is that they charge for extra sauces but never give them. It's not enough money to call and complain about but just enough to annoy me. Have been excited for this place to open for a few months, finally got the chance to try it today. Ordered pick-up via EatStreet from here today. This Place doesn't even deserve 1 star. The menu looks amazing but what they put in front of you is a mess and it is way over priced.
