    an omelet and potatoes

Food was cooked to order and came out really fast to say the restaurant was crowded. Due to the overwhelming crowd in the inside we dined outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The omelette I ordered was named after the restaurant and was very good. The portions of the meat and vegetables in the inside was just enough.

I am always excited to try new breakfast spots on the Northshore. I seem to always go to the same place every weekend and need some new restaurants to put in the rotation. Fat Spoon is located in a strip mall on HWY 59 in between Mandeville and Abita Springs. It is a little out of my way, but I decided to stop in one Sunday and give it a try. I opted for the pulled pork stacker. It had eggs, potatoes, pulled pork and gravy in the same bowl. That seemed like a winning combination, but it was just OK. The pork wasn't particularly flavorful and it detracted from the dish. I think the addition of a sauce other than cream gravy would improve the dish. Service was good and the owner was very friendly. The crowd mostly seemed to be regulars, but we were made to feel welcome despite it being our first time there. I don't know if fat Spoon will become my new go-to breakfast spot, but I am sure I will be back to try more of the menu.

Favorite brunch spot! Casual family atmosphere with a full bar. Seating at the bar for solo dining. They have traditional brunch food ..,,omelets, eggs Benedict and of course mimosas I had the French Dip with Sweet Potato Waffle fries and it was delicious! Bloody Mary was on point too! Seating is a little tight but the service is fast and friendly! Definitely be back!

Sunday morning driving around looking for a new place for breakfast. Here enters Fat Spoon Cafe! We had a good idea that maybe this was just the place to be as we saw cars entering and exiting, the parking lot was pretty filled up. Do we have a winner here?? To answer that question, why yes, YES we do! We were warmly greeted as we entered and informed sit where ever we like, Quickly someone was at our table taking our drink orders. Very quick and prompt service for sure. Checking the menu there were several items we were wanting to try but for me to find out if this is going to be a "go to" breakfast place for me, they need to have good eggs benedict and that they did. My BF gave the Fat Spoon Stackers a try and oh my, lets just say the plate is loaded with food. The biscuit looks to be about a mile high and delicious. I also upped my side of grits with debris and now were talking. I've included a few photos of our meal. Needless to say my BF's plate was cleaned while mine, I just couldn't get it all down. But I did give it my best try. Everyone was friendly, social and very welcoming. Service was fast, food was excellent, honestly you can't get much better. I'm looking forward to giving their lunch menu a try.

The location, directly on the St. Tammany Trace on Girod Street, is a definite winner. We dined outside today and service was excellent. We had a variety of burgers, salads, and munchables today and all were good. My Buffalo chicken salad was stellar; fresh, crispy, and generously portioned. They have a good selection of specialty cocktails and local brews, and the iced tea was good. Good things seem to be going on here. It will be interesting to see how things develop.

I tried a bait, and despite not being a big Cesar salad fan, did enjoy it. Chicken was flavorful, cooked perfectly and served on a beautiful cloves of garlic toast. Our apps were good. Chips and queso and flatbreads are pretty standard so they met my expectations. The Trace has plenty of menu options and beers on tap. I am curious to try their other menu items, specifically the main dishes. A very casual ambiance, we chose to sit outside and enjoy the warm weather. Our server was great and patient. He checked on us consistently through service and even gave our dog a water bowl as well.

The dishes really were both full of flavor and quality ingredients. We finished off with a Jalapeño Pineapple Mocktail as well as a Lemon Drop. Great ending to our meals. They got it right. You could tell that they were quite short-staffed. I felt sorry for the servers, as they were moving nonstop. It took a while for the waiter to get our order, and then to get the check to us. Their staffing situation needs to be fixed, and pronto. It really detracted from the experience. We had several appetizers. The bacon wrapped shrimp were presented in an entertaining way, hanging on a rack. They were delicious. The zydeco eggrolls were probably my favorite thing the whole night, excellent excellent excellent. I had a cheeseburger. It was a decent, but a bit too heavy on the salt. My date had the hot honey pepperoni pinsa; I tried a bit, it was great. The other couple dining with us had shrimp and grits, and the catfish. They enjoyed their dishes, complementing the food well, no complaints. All in all, a good meal. Just please fix your staffing situation, Lumora.

We started with the chicken wings with honey barbecue sauce. The wings were cooked perfectly and had a good flavor. Next were the bacon wrapped shrimp and these were one of my favorite items of the night. The hot honey sauce was so good and the presentation made them even better. The cheese pull and sauce dripping down really sealed the deal for me. Easily a 10/10. The brussels sprouts completely surprised me because they were SO good. They were topped with pecans, cranberries, pepper jelly, and parmesan cheese, and all of the toppings worked so well together to elevate the flavor of the brussels sprouts. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I've been back just for those alone. 10/10. I also tried the Bayou Mac & Cheese which was creamy, flavorful, and cooked well. My only complaint is that it was topped with tomatoes, which wasn't listed on the menu, so I would've asked for it without them, but no big deal. We also had the Cajun Pasta which was good as well. Everything came out hot & Overall, the service was excellent, everything we had was really enjoyable, and the experience matched the aesthetic of the restaurant. I'd definitely return.

The service was phenomenal! It was for an anniversary, and they made sure to tell us happy anniversary, and add it to a little sign that was left on our table. Now for the main part: the food. Fried Oysters and Pork Belly - very good, if you get this make sure you eat them together (that was our "best bite" for that serving). Wedge Salad - one of the best wedge salad's we have had. The blue cheese dressing was creamy (rather than chunky blue cheese). It had crispy shoestring onion strings that almost acted as the croutons. I loved every bite that included lettuce, tomatoes, onion, and bacon. Delmonico Steak - this was probably our overall favorite item. Just a great steak, and large enough for both of us to enjoy. Redfish - this was good, not great. Would probably try something else other than this if we went back. Tchefuncte Potatoes - they almost were like a twice baked potato (flavor wise), but they are super creamy and fluffy and then turned into a lightly fried ball. Good and very unique. Crème Brûlée - if you like crème brûlée then you will enjoy it here. A classic dessert that was delicious. And to top it all off, the ambiance was great.
