I've stopped by a few times for breakfast. I've had the pork chops with cheese grits, eggs, and a biscuit twice, and also tried the sausage biscuit with cheese grits. We stopped by on our way home from New Orleans. W was our waitress... she couldn't have been nicer. I ordered pancakes and sausage Pattie's. Hubby ordered eggs over easy, biscuits, hash browns and sausage links. Everything was perfect except the sausage patties were paper thin and the link sausage was two 1 inch pieces cut in half. Positives: We were looking for a local lunch place & stopped at Jeanie's. I had fried shrimp & my husband had a sampler platter. We both enjoyed our entrees. My husband especially loved the fried oysters. Negatives: My gumbo was mostly rice w only 1 tiny piece of shrimp & no crab that I could see or taste. It has just about 5 little pieces of okra. I was told that this was from a new batch of gumbo. Maybe they didn't stir it bf putting it into the little bowl for me. My husband ordered a side salad that never came to our table. The credit card machine wasn't working smoothly when we were paying & we were double-charged. We called our credit card company & worked that out. Went to Jeanie's for the first time today and can't say enough about the service, quality, and quantity of our lunch. Excellently seasoned and tender pot roast with rice and gravy. What an amazing find!!!!! We just happen to come across this hidden gem. The staff was amazing especially our waitress Q she was wonderful. I love to find local dining places with good food! I favor it over "chains". And I found a winner today! Started off with gumbo! For my meal, I got the Catfish Tangipahoa which was delish! One son got the seafood platter. My other son got the fried chicken. All of it was on point! The service is outstanding! Very friendly. Very attentive. And Ms. Jeanie, the owner, treats you like family as soon as you walk in! I definitely recommend this place to anyone coming through Hammond, LA before 2pm (because that's what time they close)! We were group of nine, who drove over from Baton Rouge before going to Strawberry Festival. Q took amazing care of all our needs and was so grateful for her giving spirit! The food....seafood sampler was scrumptious and not salty, so I could actually enjoy without thinking I was having a heart attack. I will definitely drive back to enjoy the gem of a place! read more

Let me say, I usually eat at this restaurant about once per month. However, on July 3, 2025, I had to pull over into their parking lot because of car issues. Out of courtesy, I wanted to let the owner know I would be parked waiting for roadside assistance. I waited at the front counter for more than 5 minutes while the owner was speaking with a staff member, I was never acknowledged by the owner or staff. Still, not acknowledging I was waiting, the owner then walked to the kitchen. I continued to wait another few minutes thinking maybe she would come back to see why I was waiting; she did not, I then went back to my car and waited for my assistance. I would like to say the reason for this treatment was because the restaurant was busy and she was short staffed, unfortunately, that was not the situation this day. Can I also say I was the only person of my race in the restaurant at this time. Although I have enjoyed their menu for the last 7 years, sadly, I will no longer eat at Jeanie's it's all good. After the waitresses at the Cracker Barrel next to our hotel ignored our table for a half hour, we walked out, hungry and annoyed. The owner could improve on the way she treats her customers. My husband ordered a salad. He failed to tell our waitress, no cucumbers. When the salad got there, she corrected the salad. Then when I got my shrimp, I was eating them and the owner walked by And she asked me if everything was good and I responded by saying how the shrimp were pretty salty. She responded by saying well we have been serving them all day and haven't gotten any complaints. Then she said maybe you should have ordered them with the no salt When you ordered the salad with no cucumbers! I thought it was very rude and very unprofessional for the owner of the restaurant to conduct herself like this. My girlfriend and I used to eat at this restaurant once a week. I had not been here in a while because I have been very sick. When I went to pay my bill, the owner checked me out and I told her who I was and how I used to eat here all the time, and I told her that I would not be back and that I thought her rude comment was very unprofessional. She said her comment was not meant to be rude. I think that she is very out of touch with her behavior if she cannot even see that her comment was not rude. Furthermore, she did not even care that she was losing a customer. The owner "Jeanie" could improve the way she treats her customers. My fiance ordered a chilli burger and the burger was not fresh. It tasted processed from what my fiancé said and when I tried to take a bite I couldn't even chew it. The waitress didn't even offer another entree to replace it when I expressed to her that it didn't taste right. She didn't say nothing and just asked me if I wanted a refill. Jeanie came by and asked if he wanted a dessert he politely said no. We went to go pay upfront and I asked her if he had to pay for the burger since he didn't eat it. She said " we make our burgers fresh everyday and get no complaints. I cut open the burger when they took it to the back and even took a bite. Nothing was wrong with it. It's not my fault you didn't like the burger but I can knock a couple of dollars off" which she didn't after we added it up when we left. My fiancé gave her his card to pay and she told him here you can leave a tip on here. She saw he didn't give one and said "you're not going to tip?" He said " well I just clicked the button" she said " I mean it's not the waitress fault that you didn't like the burger she's not up in the kitchen cooking it" We would have given her a tip if the waitress would've acknowledged what I said about the burger. Jeanie was speaking pretty loud about it and we had people behind us. Very unprofessional. I have never experienced something like this and this was my first time ever coming here. I will never go here again and I just want everyone to know how rudely she treats her customers. read more

First time trying Jeanne's even though I've heard for years It's all good . Saw the fried mushrooms on the appetizer menu and had to try them. They were huge and awesome. My husband ordered the Danny MC burger. He devoured it. It had chili on it. I ordered the Jeanie MC 1/2 lb burger. Everything was awesome. Can't wait to go back again and explore the menu more. I only wished that when they were closed for Easter week, it would have been posted on the door and on the answering service. We came a long way to find them closed. The customer service was awesome and she answered all my questions about the menu. Unfortunately, the food wasn't what I expected. I ordered fish and shrimp with fries and green beans. The fish wasn't crispy and the shrimp was fried with tail (shaped like a chicken nugget). Although the fish and shrimp were warm and placed over my fries, the fries were cold. I also got green beans. They taste straight out the can with no added flavor. No sweetness, garlic, pork flavor. Bland. I don't think I will be a returning customer but I am glad I tried a local restaurant.
