Let me start by saying that I have NEVER left a bad review before, but I was genuinely shocked by how my 3-year-old and I were treated during our visit. The most concerning issue was that the waitress brought my child a cup of milk that was clearly spoiled. The milk had large curdled clumps, a watery separation, a thick and slimy texture, and a strong sour smell. I kindly asked her to take it back and did not even request a replacement. Her only response was being visibly annoyed and offended by me asking that. Bear in mind that this came after several other issues with this server. We waited about 10 minutes for silverware, during which time my child ate most of his meal with his hands and my food became cold. During all that time, she was waking past us bringing other people silverware and replenishing their drinks, and engaging in casual chat with customers. Three items we ordered were never brought out, and I had to ask for each one separately and repeatedly. When I asked about the French fries she never brought out, she gave me dismissive response that they were included in our meal, and then visually inspected our plates to confirm they were not there. She then brought out a plate of cold, dry fries and placed it on the table without saying a word. The entire experience felt surreal! If owners are reading this, we visited on Saturday, 1/10/26 and were seated in the booth area. I do want to note that the tall girl at the front desk was incredibly kind, and I truly appreciated her for how sweet she was. From the crazy textured ceiling to remnants of wood paneling and free hanging defunct motion detector, this place and the workers are charming and cozy. Potato salad - give me a tub. Hash browns -perfection. White gravy and biscuits - I tried so hard to stop eating it, but I was not successful. I ate way too much. Hamburger steak and sweet potatoes were good. Apparently this is our 2nd time here. According to my woman. I was going to 2 star this visit, due to the slow start of our visit. We picked our own table. Took awhile for the server to get around to us, for our drink order and wait some more for our food order. Combine both times waiting and multiply by 8 and thats how long we waited for our food. But on a high note, the food was actually very good. My wife claims, it was the best omelet she's had in a long time. My order was just as good, I added 2 pancakes as a side. If you are looking for a fancy place, you will be disappointed. If you're looking for great food, great service and a laid back atmosphere, this is your place. The restaurant looks as if it hasn't been updated in some time, but that is part of the charm. The servers are great and the food is some of the best traditional breakfast food on the Northshore. In my opinion they have the best western omelet of all the breakfast places in the area. Other breakfast standards, like pancakes, biscuits, etc. are all very good. Their coffee is also particularly good, and if you want, you can get a large carafe for the table. They can get crowded, but you usually do not have to wait for a table. I would avoid the booths, especially on the ones on he right side as you walk in. They are not designed for tall people. There is a bar of torture that will destroy your kneecaps and/or shins. For a casual traditional breakfast meal, you cant beat the Country Kitchen. read more

Miss P (she's my lunch buddy) got a cheeseburger she said it was a little greasy for her taste, and I got the Ferdie with potato salad -(tasted like my Grandma's) mine was absolutely delicious and gargantuan! We have been going to Country Kitchen for over 20 years. The food is really good, but the service has always been a little 'lacking' at times. We went a few days ago, and had 4 of the wait staff walk past us and never even acknowledged our presence. I even went to the front and retrieved a menu, thinking that would trigger someone to wait on us...but nope! When we walked out, the girl at the register said "oh no one waited on you?" I told her "yes, including you"... because she was one of the staff that walked right past us and saw us sitting there, too. Well, that won't happen again because we won't be back. We arrived around 10 am on a Saturday and sat at a booth in the back corner. After 10 minutes and seeing no one, we moved to a booth close to the kitchen entrance and finally place our order around 10:20. The server came by several times to tell us "it's almost ready" "it'll be out in a minute". At 10:45 she came back asking what we ordered again because the mythical "they" can't find the ticket! There was still hope for the food that finally showed up one hour after we arrived but those hopes were dashed quickly. French Toast= horrible!1)Texas Toast is not the same as regular bread they used. 2) This toast is supposed to be grilled nicely and not a warmed soggy mess. 3). The browning of the toast should come from the grilling and not being drowned in cinnamon! Horrible stuff!!! Veal cutlet poor boy = flavorless, dry and flavorless! My server (didn't get her name but the one with the tattoos on her forearm) always made sure my coffee was filled and made sure I had every I needed. The meal was very affordable. I got the #1 breakfast with a side of pancakes, and a coffee and my whole meal came out to about $12. The hash browns were a little burnt but after working in a restaurant for years, I know that could easily be attributed to one little mess up. Other than that everything was great. Bacon was cooked perfectly While the 2 pancakes were a good size and had a great taste, they were very thick and therefore more like cake causing them to be very crumbly and dry. This looks to be a pretty popular place for the locals. I'm thinking it probably isn't because of the buffet. That's what I had today. You can choose between a vegetable, one meat or two meat buffet. I chose the two meat not realizing one of the meats was liver. Yuck! Other items today included chicken, green beans, corn on the cob, white rice, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes, biscuits and for desert either a bowl of peaches or pudding. The chicken was just ok as it was pretty dry, the corn on the cob was mushy, the potatoes are instant, the gravy was just ok and the biscuits were cold. The food is cheap here though. The two meat buffet is only $5.95. My waitress was also very friendly. She noticed I didn't eat the liver and asked if I knew what it was beforehand. I told her I didn't realize what it was so she only charged me for a one meat buffet which was pretty cool. I noticed several people ordering off the menu rather than getting the buffet and saw some pretty tasty looking plates. I think I'll go that route next time. read more

This is my last time coming here. 46 minutes for a sandwich and a cheese omelet. When we complained about the food we were told our ticket got messed up. An hour in I get my food. I have only been here for breakfast. The restaurant opens for 6am but you can't order breakfast until 6:30am. The breakfast menu is small, mostly egg dishes and a few types of pancakes. The place has a "your grandma's kitchen" vibe and the food tastes like a homemade meal. I believe this place opened 50 plus years ago and probably looks exactly the same. Very clean and quaint roadhouse diner with excellent food and friendly service. Nothing that catches your eye and says it's gonna knock your socks off. But when you walk in and the food arrives, that's when the comfort fills all the other senses. Everything we ordered was brought out in a timely manner and tasted exceptionally fresh and was served hot. Most impressive was the roast beef poor boy, the "half" size was nearly too much for one person and the quality of the bread, lettuce, tomato and roast beef was superior to most I've had.
