We paid a first visit today to Bistro Byronz in Mandeville and enjoyed ourselves. The Bistro has a svelte, contemporary, somewhat upscale persona, and features excellent service and amenities. There is a full bar and specialty cocktails are available. There was a big crowd on this Friday lunch hour and the surroundings were noisy and bustling, but all proceeded without a hitch. I'm watching my calories at present, so I had the Chicken Paillard served with greens in vinaigrette and braised vegetables. It was excellent; succulent, tasty, and generously portioned. Our party of five had a variety of entrees, including fish tacos, southwestern salad, and chicken Caesar sandwich. All were enjoyed. Our little one had the fried shrimp off the kid's menu and thought it was very good. Bistro Byronz was a very good experience. We will return. read more

One of my favorite spots in Mandeville! The service is always top-notch, and the food never disappoints. I really admire how the owner/manager is so hands-on, frequently checking in with tables to make sure guests are happy. What impresses me most is that he's not above jumping in to help, whether that means clearing a few dishes or grabbing something a customer needs. My dad and I went to dinner here last week and both loved it. Our server, Ashley, was great. We had never been before so she helped guide us through the menu. We both opted to get the Redfish Amandine, which was phenomenal. Just perfectly cooked. The restaurant was a little loud and it was packed. Had to lean in to hear each other a few times. My first time here. My mom got a shrimp and crab meat salad but said the crab meat was "crabby" (not so great tasting) and the shrimp tasted imported, possibly-- as in, not so fresh. We were visiting Covington and decided to stop in for Happy Hour and get a snack. We sat at the bar and ordered the Blue Cheese chips with crab and a cup of gumbo. My husband and I enjoyed a yummy dinner here on a Saturday night. We got there around 6:15 and were immediately seated. By the time we left at 7:30, there were quite a bit of people waiting outside. We started with the French onion and shrimp and corn soup. Both were delicious! The bowls looked small, but the portions were more hearty than they looked. We then split the Byronz sandwich and the sliced steak sandwich. Instead of the chips/fries, we got the orzo and the carrot soufflé. The sandwiches were both really good, the steak sandwich was the favorite. The orzo was good, my husband said it reminded him of "kid pasta". The carrot soufflé was delicious- very sweet. Not happy at all about the menu change . Seems like you all want to be like every other restaurant in St. Tammany, serving nothing but typical southern food . There are people that live here that have different ideas on what good cuisine is besides crawfish and catfish . Mandeville is full of transplants from other states that don't eat fried Louisiana seafood . We need more restaurants that are more diverse. We used to love this place but the last three times we've been my wife had hair in her food. The first time she had a nest of hair on top of her Salmon salad, yes a nest of hair. I don't know how the kitchen and server didn't see it. Really disgusting! We went back months later and she got another hair in her food.
