My experiences here have been hit or miss. Sometimes good, sometimes bad, but in general I enjoy it so I keep going back. One thing going for them is they are open 24 hours so if you want to eat super late (or super early) they are the only place open besides Waffle House. One of our favorite things to do is to go here for late-night pie. Yes, pie. They have real pies on the menu in a number of flavors. Tons of fun. The menu is large and should have something to satisfy anybody. They have a nice variety of daily blue-plate specials that are usually pretty good. It gets crowded on weekend mornings when everybody seems to be out for breakfast, but at other times/days I have never had to wait for a table. The servers are always friendly. Loved this place! Enjoyed a deluxe crab cake breakfast served with eggs, grits, and pan bread (Texas toast made from sourdough bread.) Husband had thick, big waffles and bacon. I've gone several times to give them the benefit of the doubt but after tonight I'm not going back. I've never walked out of a restaurant before but sitting there watching waitresses walk passed you rolling their eyes and just sitting with no menu was the last straw. It shouldn't take 10-20 to greet every table. Being a server is having more than one table at a time. It's like she wasn't gonna come over until her table was gone. I was sitting right next to her table she already had and not one word. This is a cool diner with an old school vibe and it also is a fantastic option for as they also stay open late. I sampled their cheeseburger and really enjoyed that experience here. They have lots of neon lights that really help give this spot a great ambiance along with offering a good variety of daily specials to keep things interesting. I am normally big on diner food so I was excited to stop in and try Big Easy after being told it was quite good. I will preface it by saying they were very busy when we came, but we spent forever waiting to get seated and even longer to get service once we were. Seemed like as we got seated was when the staff got a break from being busy so we were an after thought. The food was good, or this rating would be lower. We stop here as often as we can. We live an hour away and it never disappoints! We are convinced that they make the absolute best pancakes in the world! They don't even need syrup! My husband loves their Philly cheesesteak. We usually order a bunch of diner staples and just share everything since it's too hard to decide. The club sandwich with fries always hits the spot. Eggs, hashbrowns, and bacon. Can we talk about the pancakes? Just downright deliciousness. This batter is homemade and tastes of vanilla, buttermilk and we can't get enough of them. Been in Slidell a couple of days now, went to Big Easy on a local recommendation and now I've been twice. This place is great!! Day one to day two different meats same great taste and service!! I see signage for "Diner" and I'm on my way. Big Easy Diner is a "Diner" concept restaurant. Not really a diner but designed to invoke a feeling of the 1950's. Kind of disappointing not to find some delightful and charming diner that's been slinging hash for 60+ years. Food was fine, as was the service. Nothing special. Yet we did not feel like she forgot about us. The food is basic dinner food at decent prices. I liked the corned beef came in patty form. The pancakes are fluffy. I did not like that the biscuits were drowned in gravy. I could not tell if the biscuits were baked correctly because the gravy just over took the integrity of the biscuits. read more

I had breakfast here and I must say that it was very good. Service was good and the place has that classic diner feel. The food is your typical stuff that you would expect to find in a diner. I in no way mean this in a negative way. There is something to be said about some good old classic American diner food. Stopped in on our long journey home to Boston. I was very happy with the level of service at this diner. The waitress was so nice and friendly and i never had an empty water glass! I had a delicious bacon and cheese omelet with hash browns. First time i have ever seen bacon on the top of an omelette but thankfully there was a lot inside as well! It arrived and when I poured my grits from the container to mix with my eggs I found two fat dead flies. The flies I can almost understand as flies enter the restaurant when the doors open. However, the rudeness of the cook and young white boy wearing a gold chain are a problem. Neither apologized and the later asked why I didn't want the rest of the food. He even asked to see the flies. The cook insisted the flies could not have come from the food even though as he spoke flies were flying around restaurant right through the window he was speaking from.
