We were excited based off some of the reviews and pictures, but ended up disappointed. I kept trying to find reasons to make the visit better, but everything just fell flat. For starters, the staff wasn't attentive at all. The hostess went to sit us outside as requested, because it looked so relaxing from walking up, upon entering the outside, many people were smoking (cigs, not vape). I'd don't mind if people smoke, but I don't want to eat a meal with it lingering around. We then went back inside and they sat us in the corner by the drink station/kitchen. Throughout the meal, the waitresses gossiped about their lives and their customers while the table next us a waitress was wrapping silverware. Our waitress didn't arrive for like ten minutes and then took forever to bring our drinks back. The vibes were just all off. Like they all wanted to get out of there and not be around each other. It wasn't even late. The food was average, nothing spectacular. We got a burger and the fish and chips. For a traditional pub, fish and chips should be one of the best things on the menu, less than par. The beer cheese soup was a highlight. Very good. We also ordered some type of pear cheeseburger. Different, but not bad. I'd try something else if I were to return. The decor is traditional pub meets modern hipster vibes. Hard to screw up. Although, limited beer options. Only 4 drafts for a pub is kinda weird. The good news is there's a brewery next door. Like I said, I was optimistic and excited. I don't give a lot of bad reviews but this one didn't hit the mark. Just went on a roadtrip through 4 states and this was hands-down our favorite food the ENTIRE trip. I came because the reviews and was not disappointed. The service was great and our server Natalie was very kind. She told us about the pubs sweet history (RIP Father Tom) and we tried to convince her to tell his wife to open one of these in Miami!! The ambiance was cute and pub-ish! There was also ourdoor seating, but it was too cold outside for us Floridians lol. Ok onto the delicious food Sweet potato fries appetizer -holy cow these were out of this world. Crispy thin waffle fries with hot honey and bacon!! Who knew this combination would hit so hard. My boyfriend's favorite. The Bernie Mac - the chicken=juicy, the chicken crust=crispy and Nashville hot (puts Hattie B's and those other mainstream Hot Chicken places to SHAME), the Mac=creamy and honestly addicting. The noodles weren't too mushy and the consistency of it vs the crispy chicken was godly. I'd drive from Miami to Tennessee to have this dish one more time. Second time at this amazing Pub. Brie was our server extraordinaire and told us about happy hour. Dave got a pint of Oktoberfest Lager for $5 and a Bruschetta appetizer for $8. It was just delicious as well as a large bowl of Parsnip Soup $7! Dave ordered the same sandwich he had the last time-Fresh Prince. We sat in the covered patio luckily before it started to rain. Located in Cookeville's local restaurant district, this small business has earned a place on my rotation. The food is hearty pub food, generously portioned, in a chill setting. Parking during meal hours can be tight and you may have to walk a block or two, but it is worth it. I don't drink, so I don't have an opinion on the brews, just that the variety seems to be decent. Service can be hit or miss, and I can't say it is a certain person. Sometimes we are overlooked, when we are seated, and sometimes after our order arrives and we would like a refill but no one checks on us until we are ready to leave. If the level of service can be improved a bit, this place would definitely be on my must-visit list. read more

I was in Cookeville for work and wanted a casual dinner, and Father Tom's Pub definitely exceeded my expectations. The bartender was fantastic--super attentive and knew his stuff. They had a great craft beer selection featuring some local Tennessee breweries, including Calfkiller, a local favorite that I really enjoyed. For dinner, I went with the special: a bacon and pimento cheese burger with a side of mac and cheese for $14. It was easily one of the best pub meals I've had in years. After hiking to the falls nearby, we decided we needed to get some late lunch. After looking at the different options we decided to give Father Tom's a try. Walking in it's a great pub atmosphere. Tap handles on the ceiling above the bar. Chalkboard signs and booths that have kinda a church pew feel. The server cleaned off a table for us and sat us down with menus. Their menu is a good variety of things, not so many options that it's impossible to decide and not too few where you feel limited. I went for the Ollie burger with added bacon and a side of sweet potato fries. My husband went for the fish and chips with crispy brussel sprouts instead of fries. The food came out quickly and it was good. The burger had good flavor and the pretzel bun wasn't too soft and had a nice chew to it. The waffle fries were all crisp on the outside and almost smooth in the middle. The fish was flaky and the batter crispy. The sprouts lived up to the hype that the server gave them. When we had asked about a few things she recommended trying them saying that they are a crowd pleaser. They are. They had great flavor and were cooked very well We also tried two local beers and they were served nice and cold and well priced. This is a great place downtown Cookeville. Lightly salted and soft inside. My wife ordered the Natalini with grilled shrimp ,so tender and cooked perfectly. I had the Bernie Mac 3 large chicken tenders in a creamy white Mac and cheese. Now for me the heat was light for Nashville hot but that is me. We decided to have dessert and shared the Lemon crème and it had the correct amount of lemon flavor.
