There were about 10 of us. I have no recollection to what everybody else say, but I had the chicken fried steak. Most of the time it's hamburger, but this one was actual steak. I got it with mashed potatoes & gravy. I've forgotten what the other side was as you get two. I had Coke. Everyone was full as it's quite a plateful no matter what you get. Not my first time at Cheddars but it's been a while since my last visit to another location. That visit was soon after COVID with a severely cut-down menu in options and the customer service was below par. Thankfully, much has changed since then! My girlfriend and I were seated quickly by a courteous and friendly hostess. Our waitress was just as nice and quick at taking our drink orders, delicious complimentary buttered and honey croissant, and then she happily explained a few items on the more extensive menu. We enjoyed our appetizer of bacon cheese fries and my steak was delicious and cooked as ordered. My girlfriend's salad was fresh and well put together. Prices here are fairly reasonable for a large chain restaurant, especially in this tough economy. We were very pleased with this meal and service. read more

Met my brother and sister-in-law for a reunion dinner after three years. Service was top-notch. Spinach dip app was second to none, and the carrots and broccoli casserole were delicious. The next time I visit, however, I must remember to bring my saw to cut through my medium-rare sirloin steak. While it tasted OK, it was very tough and chewy. But at least I was able to eat mine -- my sister-in-law's more expensive ribeye was so filled with gristle that it was inedible. The restaurant made it right by taking it off the bill. Lunch date with my daughter after an appointment in Cookeville and it was delicious. No wait for a table and the service was excellent. The food was hot, filling and tasty. I had family visiting from out of state and thought this would be a great place for a late dinner, wrong! There were 4 adults and a 8 month old. We ordered drinks an appetizer and waters along with a small fry for the baby. The drinks come and one is not what we expected, so we send it back and order something else, no waters yet. The waitress returns to take the food order. 3 of us order the chicken pot pie s, with 2 salads and mashed potatoes as the sides. The 4th person ordered a sandwich with fries, so we cancel the fries for the baby. About 10 minutes later the waitress comes to tell us they only have 2 pot pies, no problem I order a burger instead. One pot pie is brought out almost immediately. We then ask for the potatoes so we can feed the baby and our waters. Another 10-15 minutes and we are told the pot pie(s) are gonna take 20 minutes. Hmm, we have now been here about a hour , ok can we get the mashed potatoes to feed the baby while waiting The first person has now finished their pot pie and the cold mashed potatoes show up along with TWO pot pies and the burger. Now we have a extra meal, we are told don't worry just take it to go. Then the bill comes containing the original order, 3 pot pies, the sandwich the kids fries, the drink we returned along with the burger, a salad and the drink replacement. Although, the bill was adjusted to reflect the original order, not sure I'm going back. I will however say, the pot pie was delicious read more

Cheddar's was super clean, spacious, great food and very nice staff! The honey buttered croissants were my absolute fave!!! They were light and flaky with the perfect amount of honey butter on them!! I ate here twice while I was in Cookeville just because of the croissants. For my first dinner I had chicken fingers and fries which was great! The second time I had a steak with a baked potato and corn and the steak was cooked just how I like it! My only complaint is I wish they gave more croissants to us because one per person isn't enough! I can't wait to go back next time I'm in Tennessee!!! read more

At approximately 9:27 My girlfriend and I walked out without so much as receiving a drink order. Absolutely unacceptable service especially considering how empty the floor was. But there were an over abundance of servers just walking around and hanging out in the dining area. We were seated immediately by a very pleasant hostess, and we're also quicky greeted and brought menus , again by a very pleasant waitress. We love coming here. We had a hard time this past Sunday with our waiter. He had to many tables and forgot to put our food in. The manager was very professional and compensated us. The atmosphere is very relaxed and we always ask to sit by the window which we normally get. Also, if you want to beat waiting for longer than 30 minutes get there when it opens at 1030. read more

This Cheddar's is hit and miss. We used the online RSVP system and got on the list only for the hostesses to ignore that spot and re-add us, adding another 30 minutes to our wait. When I mentioned that it related to an hour wait the hostess didn't seem to care. Some of the food has been great, in all honesty most, but the place runs cold (I always bring in my coat) and the service, post COVID has definitely changed. I took my family here while on vacation, it was the first time eating at a Cheddar's even though there is one 20 mins from us back home. The food was over all good, a little under seasoned "needed salt". But the two things that stood out are the honey butter croissants, and our server. The croissants are supper lite and flaky, the melt in your mouth! And the hint of sweetness is wonderful! Now for our server. We had Emily and she was an absolute delight! She was very friendly and attentive to us. She knew the menu and even warned my father that the dish he was going to order was a little spicy for some people. We meet in Cookeville very often. That is the midway point between Knoxville and Nashville, so we meet family and friends in the area often. We ate at Cheddars today. All five of us got the pot pies with salads. We also tried the coconut shrimp. It was great and the dip/sauce was perfect. Everyone of us left with a half of a pot pie. We were way too full to finish eating. We all enjoyed our meals. We like eating here because they have a great selection on their menu.
