The ambiance and atmosphere are very warm and inviting and I can say the same about the service. Our server was helpful, friendly and informative. I ordered the beef souvlaki lunch plate which came with rice and salad as well as a choice of garlic sauce, tzatziki, or tahini. We were also offered some homemade hot sauce as well. The food tasted really good and my colleagues enjoyed theirs as well. I'd like to visit again to try more of their menu. They have plenty of dishes that would be good for sharing as well.

It is really cute inside full of trinkets from Egypt that make you feel like you are in a baazar. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Really loved the customer service. We decided on a few dishes to try. We decided on the Chef's Platter that serves 2-3 although unless you have an appetite of a lumberjack, it will feed more. It comes with - Salad, Hawawshi (flatbread filled with meat), kushari (Egypt's national dish consisting of lentils and macaroni), baba Ganooj, Musakka as well as a bunch of skewers. Chicken, beef, kabab skewers, lamb shank and rice. We also ordered Egyptian tea which was delightful. Food took a while to come out. However it was all good except the lamb shank was on the dry side which was disappointing. I really enjoyed the salad and the baba ganooj. My husband enjoyed the meat dishes. However we both loved the Hawawshi. Give it a try!

Owner Telso has been slingin sammies here for decades, first as a Mr. Sub franchisée, then as an owner/operator under his own moniker, High Voltage. Why it's touted as a "coffee bar" versus just a sandwich joint, I don't know. The coffee part of the equation has never really been operational. Stick to the main sandwich menu, no deviations, no side orders, you'll be good. Telso is Edmonton's "sandwich nazi" à la Seinfield's "soup nazi". Come prepared, don't ask for substitutions, order-pay-done. Get yelled at if you hold up the lunch rush. Telso ain't got no time for that; his food is high quality with no compromise. When the bread quality and price was not up to demand, no more bread. I hold out hope for the return of toasted sandwiches, but in the meantime, the wraps are top-notch. I'm not a big fan of donair meat, but here it's great quality, not too fatty, grilled after slicing, just perfect. Has been for years! The fact that High Voltage has weathered years of economic turmoil speaks volumes. 2+ decades and COVID pandemic in, High Voltage has mellowed a bit. One long-time employee is now competently and congenially running the show. The food is still excellent quality, as it has always been. YOU GOTTA EAT (a sandwich) HERE.

They did cleared the bar with room to spare. The humus and the dip with red peppers were full of surprises and more delicious than I would have thought possible. Add to those the thin and freshly baked pita and it's a stunning start to a meal. The mains were uniformly excellent, too. And loved the grilled vegetables in particular. Highly recommended.

You get to try a lot of different things with a great variety of options. It was warm and inviting inside. It has Turkish influence but not particulary stand out in nature. Nice enough though. Food came out in a timely manner. We started with the grape stuffed leaves which were delightful and came with a lovely cheese to spread on them. Also pita bread with hummus and red pepper spread. Both were excellent and creamy and the bread is amazing. It is made to order with the wood fire oven. Absolutely lovely. Then we had assorted meat which included meat balls, lamb chops, swordfish and chicken. All were cooked well and tasty, although besides the meatballs, the marinate seemed the same. It would be nice to get other flavours. A bulgur pilaf which was delicous and perfectly cooked and tomato-ey and a lovely dressed green salad came to accent the meat. For dessert a less sweet baklava which is perfect in my opinion and a good ending to the dinner.

Sultan is a very relaxing place!! Middle eastern music is playing, lights are dim, and the air is filled with hookah smoke scent. Sultan offers a good variety of foods, salads, hummus and shawarmas. I took the hummus plate accompanied by warmed up pita bread - it was very delicious!!! I also drank mint tea, which was good and warming. Turkish coffee is also served, along with non-alcoholic drinks (smoothies and soft drinks), alcoholic beverages (beer, whine, shots). Finally, they have of course hookah pipes, with a long list of flavours to choose from. I decided to go with double apple flavour, but they have many other fruit and/or mint flavours. A few extra charcoal pucks are added, so you can take your time to smoke, drink and eat, while listening to music!! I look forward to coming back to try their other foods.

P.S. there is no air conditioning and they make you pay $3 for water. I was not allowed to give people glasses of water... ridiculous
