First time trying Egyptian food and it was really delicious and flavorful! Service was friendly but nothing above and beyond. The restaurant was cute and small. Just a heads up that you place your order at the register before you sit down. We were confused since we sat down first and wondered why no one came to help us.

tl;dr: Fava Pot offers excellent Egyptian food in a cozy restaurant with attentive service. After seeing Fava Pot on my social media feeds, I finally had a chance to stop by and try their extensive menu of Egyptian food. I learned that Fava Pot actually started as a food truck over ten years ago. (They're planning on open a second brick-and-mortar location in the next year in Tyson's!) During my visit to Fava Pot I tried the following: -Hawawshi - Definitely a unique menu item. Loved all of the spices! - Mixed Grill platter - It comes with lamb chops, chicken shawarma and kofta. I'd never had kofta before, and thought it was delicious! My overall thoughts about Fava Pot? They have food that tastes fresh, and feels homemade. The service here was very friendly and attentive. Parking: There's parking all around the building; shouldn't have any issues.

Still a fan after nearly a decade of following the original truck. I don't know how the food could get better but it does. All time favorites are still koshary, liver, coffee, and hibiscus tea. I love their smaller platter when you bring friends who've never tidied Egyptian food. Kunafa with cheese for dessert please. Their breakfasts are too notch. Dina is my favorite restauranteur of all time!

Loved it! The owner Dina was very pleasant and welcoming. We tried a few of my favorite dishes and it was all very authentic & tasted great. Definitely recommend this spot for Egyptian cuisine.

My new favorite restaurant in Falls Church, the food was excellent and the vibe is so fun. It feels like you're going to your adorable Egyptian grandmas house for dinner and she spoils you with so much delicious food! Get the Dawud Pasha (meatballs), the hummus, falafel.. or just get the chefs choice platter and try it all! Service was great, ample parking in the strip mall. Will absolutely be back soon.

I came here for lunch a few weeks and it was as tasty and enjoyable as ever. It was crowded on a Sunday afternoon but we were able to get a table. The food is as enjoyable as ever. The large portion of koshary is hot a fresh, the tomato sauce is on the side so you can control how much to add. I was hungry and still brought some home. The bread and roasted potatoes were both hot and fresh and I'd get them again. The bread went perfecly with the well spiced hummus. The Zaatar with Olive Oil and Pita Bread was a unique blend of Egyptian spices on pieces of pita bread and I'll get that again. Service is always friendly here and I'll be back again.

We've been a few times and usually for dinner, but this time we went for breakfast! The breakfast menu was so diverse and big and it came on these cute wooden slabs. The service was quick and they were so friendly! We ordered a few different things. But the highlight was definitely the shakshuka and the platter (I've put pictures below). The falafels are the best we've ever had in the DMV! The breakfast sandwich was also so delicious! We'll definitely be back again :)

We love to check out all the lists of Best Eats. Fava Pot is a name that showed up and we were excited to try it. There was a lot to choose from on the menu and, when asked what was recommended, our server replied "everything!" That would have been even too much for us to order so we settled on the chef's appetizer platter with falafel, fava beans (it's the name so it has to be good) and the baba ganoush. The servings were enough for everyone to try each one and then go back several more times. I especially liked the falafel and the tahini sauce it came with. For entrees, we opted for the lamb Fattah with was very tender and tasty and the kofta platter which may had provided the juiciest and most flavorful kofta we have had. To drink, we shared cups and cups of hot and delicious black tea with mint and a café mocha. Everything supported Fava Pot's inclusion on those must try lists. Their kofta will have a place on my craving list from now on. When I think of Kofta - this is where I will definitely head. For dessert we had the warmed nutella kunara. Mmmmm. The staff was very friendly and the location in Falls Church had both indoor and outdoor dining options. The décor featured historic figures. We are sure to return to Fava Pot to try some of the other dishes (in addition to the kofta). One of the staff highly recommended some of the breakfast dishes which are served all day.

    Red lentil soup

What a delight! Nice, chill spot with cute art...and even better food. Two of us shared the red lentil soup -- plated with the Egyptian bread as its lid to seal in the cumin-y aroma -- and gollash to start. Gollash was a particular treat -- every bit a meat pie, but so light and airy thanks to the phyllo. I had Egyptian fried chicken as my main. It's really a Cornish hen. I think I probably could have just eaten the whole thing, bones and all. Everything was tender. A family-run business I'd happily support again!

Stopped in for a bowl of Koshary, one of Fava Pot's specialties, while I was in the area. Found the staff to be friendly and the dining room clean and decorated very eclectically with modernist Egyptian motifs and pop culture references; I'm not ethnically Egyptian, but I certainly felt like my Egyptian uncle's dining room if that's even a concept. In a good way, I might add. The Koshary itself was delicious, hearty and generally pretty flavorful; the caramelized onions are a keystone to this dish's and the lentils and chickpeas provide more of a backbone than the pasta or rice, which is fine by me. My only grievance is the price vs. quantity balance; Koshary as I understand it is supposed to be a relatively inexpensive stew using staple ingredients and can be produced efficiently in large quantities. However, Fava Pot's Koshary is the same price as their other bowls with seemingly more expensive inputs, and a rather steep $16 at that. For that price, I'd expect just a little bit more of everything, in spite of its heartiness. In any case, I did appreciate this mean and will certainly not rule out returning in the future to try their other fare.

What a great experience. It was packed in a Friday night. We were promptly seated but Dina the owner came over and greeted us and asked what we ordered. We said the Eat Like an Egyptian special and she seated us at a larger table! She was really friendly and kind! The restaurant feels like a cozy cafe and really nice with artifacts from Egypt around the restaurant. The food was really good! It was hard to decide what was my favorite but these were the items that were part of the Eat like an Egyptian special: Falafel was amazing and delicious! Perhaps our favorite item we had!! 10/5! Susu's chicken was really delicious, crunchy creamy! Kofta was seasoned and amazing! Hummus and baba ghanoush were decadent. The khoshary was and interesting combination of pasta lentils and rice. I know I'm missing others but it was a special perfect for two people to share. You get a nice delicious spread of items that are amazing!

This place is amazing!!!! New favorite for sure. The inside is warm and homey--a great space. The owner spoke with us, made great recommendations, and was super friendly. I got the kofta sandwich which was amazing. The iced mint lime drink was also fantastic. I would order both things again. Recommend!

    Kofta platter

My friend was raving about this restaurant, so I thought I'd go check it out. He had previously had a chicken wrap there that he really enjoyed. We went on a Sunday afternoon and got seated right away in the outside patio area. We were greeted when we walked in, and our server provided us some good recommendations. To start off, we went with the chef's appetizer platter. We got a mixture of the dolmas, fava beans, and baba ganoush. Although this was all really tasty, everything was mushed together so it was hard to tell which one I was eating. I probably would've preferred them to be somewhat separated on the plate. For our entrees, we went with the Grilled chicken and kofta platter. Both of these were really good, and I liked the sides it came with. The prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were decent. I'd definitely come back if I'm in the area, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here either.

At that time, the establishment only had a one other table occupied so seating occurred immediately. As I perused the menu, my focus landed on the tajins / stews. The ox tail, okra lamb, and cow feet tajins all looked delectable. I settled on the cow feet tajin ($20), served with rice. That arrived after about 10 minutes, piping hot in an earthenware bowl. Just looking at the glisten and the viscosity while spooning the stew, I could tell that the cow hocks had simmered long enough to melt and release collagen into the stew. The tendons came off the bone like the proverbial hot knife through butter. The stock proved rich in texture and flavor without overwhelming the palate. Whatever additional seasonings went into it enhanced the clear stock's savoriness without imparting a different direction to the palate. This epitomized the ostensible simplicity of a dish belying sheer time and effort to perfect a dish. As an aside, this sort of laborious effort resembled long simmered Cantonese stews that I grew up with. Hilariously enough, the only other occupied table was also an Arabic guy bringing his Asian friend along. Speaking of Arabic friends, my friend ordered the king koshary ($12) and had me try a bite. The texture contrasts of the varied grains, the crispy onions, and the savory tomato-based koshary sauce, seemed irresitible. I understood why it became a signature national dish.

I can't speak on the customer service because I didn't talk to anyone. I ordered at the kiosk and they called my number and that was it. I paid $19.45 for my meal. I order a side of falafels (3) and the street bowl with beef flank, tzatziki, and mild red pepper sauce. The falafels were way too crispy. I feel like compared to other falafels I've tried these were on the hard side. Thankfully I had some tzatziki sauce to dip them in, if I didn't, they would have been a little hard to eat. The flavor was okay but the texture was not appealing. I really wanted to get beef shawarma but they were out so I opted for the beef flank. I wish I would have just gotten chicken instead. The bowl came with rice and a lettuce salad that was underneath the beef. I'm not sure if the lettuce had arugula in it as well, but the lettuce gave sort of a bitter taste which I did not care for at all. Did not taste good so I would add a lot of tzatziki sauce to it to cut down on the bitter taste. The beef was okay, nothing to rave about. I was just very underwhelmed with my food. Not sure if I would give it a try again. If so, I would definitely get something else or build my own bowl maybe. Try it for yourself and see how you like it.

The proteins were all cooked well but unfortunately under flavored making the use of the sauces a necessity. I also wish there was more pita. The rice, although a beautiful vibrant value, lacked the aroma and flavor of rice from the Mediterranean. This dish was not a good value for what it contained. Further, the inside of the restaurant is suffering from the effects of wear and tear. Both bathrooms were out of order. This lack of care is incongruous with the intended vibe of the restaurant.
