PLEASE DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS RESORT!!!!! Backstory: I booked a five night stay at this location through airbnb so that I could propose to my girlfriend at Rocky Mountain National Park. We stayed here one night and left as soon as possible the next day due to the cabin being unclean and infested with bugs, inability to adjust our hot tub temperature, lack of privacy, rude host and staff, and misrepresented listing. Accommodation: This was marketed on airbnb as a "freestanding cabin" hosted by "rocky" it is not. It is a part of a large local resort that operates in the area. Upon our arrival, the cabin was INFESTED with spiders and insects. The decorations did not match the pictures I had seen, and we were told we were not allowed to adjust the hot tub temperature at all without the maintenance guy doing it himself from outside. There was also candy smeared into the carpet and onto the windows from a previous guest. When I spoke to the host they told me that wasn't possible because it was "professionally cleaned". There is also a large window in the bathroom that cannot be covered. Host: The host and their employees were absolutely horrible to try to work or communicate with. After explaining that the cabin would not work for us due to the issues mentioned above, they have continued to refuse a refund for the nights we did not stay. They even tried to subtly insinuate that we had left the candy in the unit ourselves. They also told me "spiders sometimes find their way into homes". Thanks for the info, I'm not five. It was infested with them and other insects. Location: The surrounding area is beautiful, but the cabins are all closely built together and feel incredibly crowded. You can stay at other locations for the same price or much cheaper that are higher quality and have actual hospitable staff. The cabin decor also did not match with pictures posted of it either. TLDR: Horrible host, INFESTED with spiders and insects, misrepresented listing on airbnb, REFUSES TO REFUND FOR NIGHTS NOT STAYED, bad amenities, terrible service. Avoid at all costs. I wanted to give this a higher rating, but there was a few things that made it a 3. The positives are location, location, location...it's the first inn when exiting the park. So, a two min drive to the entrance, which was perfect. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was cute, was a nice space. The bathroom was a good size, has toiletries. The balcony facing the river was lovely with the grill. The negatives are there was an odor, not strong but maybe a stale smell. The shower floor in our room was so cracked I had to wear my water shoes. It can be a bit noisy if there are people up late on the balconies. The futon is definitely not suited for anyone over five feet, luckily kids were just the right height. I think they need a few updates. read more

I can't say enough good things about this establishment!!! My husband and I had a romantic getaway planned in this fulfilled all of our expectations. The hot tub was immaculate. The cabin was incredibly clean and cozy, the fireplace was nice and hot and the mountain views from our private hot tub/ cabin were unmatched. I was ready to give 5 stars. This place was so great and just you stay here for the hot tub and the view. Reason for the 1 Star is on our last morning I was hoping to sit and relax on the patio until time to go and no!!!! We hear workers jackhammering the pool at 7:30 am. Not 9 not 10 after check out but at 7:30! They do not care about their guests if they are ok with their workers starting at 7:30! I hear everyone in the complex waking up and closing windows in the non A/C units because it is too loud!!!!!!!!! This was completely unacceptable. I called the office and no one will answer of course. Wow this should have been a 5 star review!!! Editing review they seem to stop with the jackhammer after I called the hotel and left a message. Upon arriving, disappointment set in. The "cabin" that we booked is actually a 12'x20' "suite". I don't know where the miscommunication happened but there is no way in hell I would pay $239/night when there are other places that look quite a bit nicer for less money. The room was uncomfortably warm inside as it did not have air conditioning. We were left with 2 options, have a room warmer than we want OR open the window and listen to kids stomp up and down the stairs repeatedly. Once the kids make it into their room, you get the opportunity to hear every step they make. It's even better when they turn the hot tub on, you have to listen to the hot tub running. Anytime the toilet in the room above was flushed, the pipes rattled in the wall. That hot tub I paid extra for, it wasn't clean, nor was it large enough for 2 people. Plus, with neighbors above and beside us, there is ZERO privacy. Since I arrived after hours, I discussed my concerns with the front counter the following day. They basically apologized for the miscommunication but did nothing to resolve the issues. In addition to the problems I have already listed, we had included a complete lack of water pressure. Water does not even shoot half the length do the tub. The TV having a green line running through it and the door being a total piece of crap that you had to force open or closed. I have no clue how this place is rated so high. They are over priced and under delivered. The front counter calls it miscommunication, I call it misleading, deception and garbage business practices. The only real highlight of the place is the nice creek that runs though the middle of the property. It can be seen from many other places in Estes Park though. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Fawn Valley Inn! The room was clean and well-kept, while still holding up a cozy cabin-like feel. The price was very affordable compared to other options nearby, and considering our room had a stocked kitchenette, a fireplace, and a private hot tub on the balcony with a gorgeous view of the river, woods, and mountains - we thought this room was a total steal! The Fall River entrance to RMNP is just minutes away, and with this entrance being less popular than the Beaver Meadows entrance, we had easy access between the park and the inn during our stay. The drive in and out of downtown Estes Park was very manageable as well, just under 10 minutes - but as we were just far enough away from all the lights, we had some amazing views of the stars at night! The bagged ice for sale at the main office was a nice perk and allowed us to get a quick start to the day without an extra trip to a store. We didn't rent any of the movies during our stay just because of time, but we did browse their selection, and they have a lot of great ones to pick from. The only minor downside was that the location (so close to the park entrance and just far enough from town) meant little to no cell coverage, but as the inn has wifi, we were still able to communicate with people and access any websites we needed each day. Driving into the hotel, incline is very steep. But parking was surprisingly not a problem at any time of the day, even though the parking lot seemed small. We checked into one of the hot tub rooms with a queen bed. The fireplace was nice, but there wasnt anything but two hard chairs to sit on aside from the bed. The room was clean. There was a kitchen with microwave, good size mini fridge, and plates, cups, utensils, dish detergent, etc. everything you need. Can opener, toaster, even a wine opener. There are enough towels, including big ones for the hot tubs outside. The balcony with hot tub was really small, but manageable. Tight squeeze when you want to put top off the spa. But spa was heated when we got there and always ready! It was a gorgeous view and worth it. There isn't a ton of privacy between the balconies. The creek down below is beautiful. But the steps to get down there aren't that accessible. They should have a better path on the west side. Inside, the storage wasn't great. There is a dresser that doesn't hold much. They had a tv with cable and a DVD player with movies at front desk, but no streaming. WiFi worked fine. The bottom of my door into the main shared hallway between the rooms had a gap that was about 3/4in. Big enough for the mouse that got into the hallway to go through. It would be good with more weatherstripping. Also, walls are kinda thin. So, you can hear neighbors from time to time at night. Also, the bathroom is tiny. The shower has small ledges. I was lucky and brought baskets that fit on back of toilet to put our toiletries in, otherwise, it would've been challenging to go back and forth. If they added more hooks basically everywhere, and maybe a shelf of something... we did ask for a second luggage stand and they accommodated. There is no A\C, but heat seems to be well equipped. There is also a fan provided that ended up being enough. We stayed in August when it's warmer and we were fine. The place is close to park Fall River entrance. It is farther away from town, but it was never so far it seemed out of the way. Pillows that were provided were flat but squishy. They had four in the room. We brought ours from home and were thankful. The beds weren't bad. Firm with slight cushion. We prefer super plush, so they were too hard for us, but to each their own. Would recommend bringing your favorite coffee grinds. It's a real coffee pot, and they provide filters, etc. but we didn't care for their choice of coffee. All in all, we would stay again, but maybe upgrade to the room with a sofa for more seating. read more

Don't stay in the room by the office unless you want to get up early, very loud when the bus of people meet at 6 am and I was trying to sleep. We had insisted on a quiet room for our honeymoon but our request was ignored. Other people had front desk problems as well. Dated on the outside but nice on the inside, very clean. Kitchen was ok. Coffee poor. River view terrific, fireplace in room was great. Towels fresh and clean as was the bedding. I would have given them 4 stars but for the noise. read more

This little Inn is the last place before entering the RMNP, so it's pretty far up there! We enjoyed this place so much though. My boyfriend had been longing for a hot tub as well as looking at the stars. I researched online and found Rocky Mountain Resorts - Fawn Valley Inn. They are still on their Winter rates because they are open year-round. Rooms right now with a hot tub go for $125/night. This is a steal for what you get! Your own private deck, hot tub, and they even give you a cute little goodie bag with chocolates, hot cocoa mix, and some other things. They have free fruit in the lobby which we enjoyed! They also have an extensive DVD collection! 1300 or something like that! They have Free Wi-Fi. Cell service is pretty spotty, but better if you head towards Estes. I can't wait to return to Fawn Valley Inn. Thank you for making our vacation really special! read more

This is an aging facility, but one that's been kept up well and is great to stay in. Prices are quite reasonable, too. It is practically walking distance to the RMNP entrance. It sits on Fall River, which from our room could be seen out the patio door. You can even walk down to the river for a little quiet time. There was only one negative, and unfortunately it's a big one for me: the wifi was terrible. We only barely got a signal in our room and even when we could get a decent connection there was almost no bandwidth. Cell tower internet was also not accessible from our room. I enjoy coming to the mountains to be away from email and phone calls, but I rely on the internet for planning adventures! read more

I adore this place. I've now stayed here more than once during the winter and it's staffed by friendly, helpful, kind people. The rooms are very cozy and many include private hot tubs. Though the exterior of the lodges show their age, the interior of the condos and cabins are very clean and renovated to mountain tacky goodness. Moose pictures you say? Yes, of course Fawn Valley has them! Log furniture, fireplaces, random tacky canoes as centerpieces....the list goes on. The office also supplies a huge collection of dvds to borrow during your stay for free, free continental breakfast, and snowshoe rental (for free I believe). We go to Estes Park every year to celebrate my husbands birthday, because it is still too cold out for camping (his dream). We stayed at Fawn Valley in last year and it was very nice. I had actually won the trip, so everything was free. Booking the trip was very easy and the people there are super nice and helpful! Once we arrived we found that they have some books, games and DVD's that you can use as you please and take to your room, so that was great! The front desk workers were really nice and patient. Our room was nice, it was a 1 bedroom with a futon in the front room, my husband and I slept in the room and our 2 young boys slept on the futon. It was a great size room and it was very cozy feeling, there was a nice fireplace too. There is a small balcony off of the main room and it walks out to the river. read more

To clarify: We stayed at Timber Creek Chalets, down the road from Fawn Valley (but still a part of the rental property.) The Timber Creek Chalets were great for what we needed: we were up for the weekend (over President's weekend) to take a 3 day backcountry course in RMNP. So, we didn't spend much time in the chalet. We needed a place to dry our gear every night, to sleep, and to shower. With that said, the chalet was really nice! I packed more than I needed, the kitchenette was well stocked with a microwave, toaster, stove top, coffee maker, and basic dishes. They also have paper towels, kitchen towels and extra trash bags. We had the option to switch out towels/linens but didn't need to. I was glad however, that I brought my travel hairdryer, as there was not one directly provided (although you could probably get one at Fawn Valley front desk). Bring hangers if you need to dry out a lot of clothes at night. There's a cute kids' play area an a pool area that's open in summer. We were in a very nice secluded part of the canyon with not much traffic. We brought our dog to a dog-friendly room. There isn't much space to walk you pup around the property, but if you walk down the road a bit, you can veer off on to some neighborhood streets. The Bear Paw directly across, is a no dog zone. If you're out there in winter season like we were, I suggest a head lamp or flashlight if you're walking your dog. The road gets a bit of traffic and you need to stay safe. I would definitely stay in the Timber Creek Chalets again. Our only struggle was with lighting. The interior of our room was so dark (dim lights and dark paint) that we struggled to see in the main room area (and we had a lot of gear to sort through each day). The bed was comfy and there was a cute fireplace. Finally, my biggest negative was that the exterior lights are so excessive and so bright, that the outside of the property actually provided more lighting than our room. We struggled to get restful sleep, as we are used to black-out shades. It felt like a headlight was pointed into our window all night, each night. An investment in dark shades for the front window would be really nice!! The rooms and property were clean, and had just what we needed for the weekend. Thank you! read more

A perfect little "cabin" for a recent summer trip to CO. Modern enough to be comfortable, but rustic enough to capture the mountain vibe. Affordable cost, immaculately clean room, also quite spacious. Full deck and grill and indoor jetted tub. Also has nice amenity touches such as a goodie basket of microwaveable popcorn, different types of coffees, etc. The only thing to note is the shower is a bit cramped. There were no ledges to house toiletries, and I'm a fairly small person, and I bumped into the shower walls quite a few times. The pros highly outweighed the cons though and I will definitely stay with them again if I have the opportunity to visit the area again in the future. read more

There is also no reliable way to get into town if you don't rent a car and nothing is within walking distance. There is a free shuttle, if you want to walk half a mile up a hill with no sidewalk. My husband and I wanted to get away for Christmas weekend, but somewhere close since we didn't have a lot of time off. We live in Westminster, CO and Estes Park is only about an hour and a half away so we thought that would be a great place to spend Christmas. Fawn Valley seemed like the perfect place; close to Rocky Mountain National Park, not in the middle of town, and romantic, so we tried it. We could not have been more happy with that decision! The staff was wonderful at check in, and they have hundreds of DVDs to check out (for free) while you're staying there. We really enjoyed watching a few movies with the fireplace going. On the weekends there is also a continental breakfast, nothing spectacular but it was nice just walking to the office for coffee and donuts. The room was clean and so romantic! We loved the private hot tub on our balcony that overlooked Fall River and had such a pretty view. We woke up Saturday morning to deer right outside our room too. We definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be back! read more

Our 5 night stay at Fawn Valley Inn was great!! We stayed in Unit 277 and had a great time. We hiked in the Rocky Mountain National Park several times and went to the Estes Park Observatory. The water pressure is pretty low up there and the doors and windows don't have good wind protection but the heat worked well. The staff was very kind and friendly and did everything they could to make us happy. The 1000+ DVD collection was a very nice perk of staying here! We will definitely come back! read more

My Husband and I stayed here right after we dropped are oldest son off to college. I am so very glad we did are room was lovely. I was wanting something cozy and that was close to nature and the Fawn Valley Inn was perfect. We had a large balcony that looked out to the beautiful Creek and lovely trees. Was so peaceful. The jetted tub in the room was just what I needed. We really had a lovely time. I think they have a lot of different type of rooms and cabins you need to look at each see what would be best for you. we came to estes for a friend's wedding, and she recommended fawn valley. we upgraded to a river room with a private hot tub, and it was worth every penny. the cabin had a very welcoming feel. the gas fireplace was a great addition, especially when it got so cold at night (or when we had just gotten out of the hot tub!). it's a bit far from anything other than the river, so plan on a long walk or a drive if you want to leave. they have wifi but we couldn't get it in our room, and cellular reception in pretty much all of estes is weak. i still can't believe how cheap it was for what we got. read more

Extremely disappointed in our stay. The good - its in a beautiful location, and I slept well on the bed. We had room that had two doors from the hallway, one into the main living room and one into the bedroom, which came in handy when our infant was sleeping in the living room and we were hanging out with my parents in a different unit (we were there to celebrate my mom's birthday). The bad - We struggled with hot water for the majority of our stay. Despite contractors having recently installed tankless water heaters, neither my wife in the morning, nor I at night were able to shower with hot water for more than three minutes. After reporting this to the front desk, we were told maintenance would look into the issue, but nothing changed. When we reiterated our complaint at check-out, we were given a rather "ho-hum, too bad" answer. Additionally, a main draw for the place are the private jacuzzis - my parent's jacuzzi did not work, and the explanation we were given was that the hot tub was crappy, and the only alternative was for them to move rooms. The annoying - Tried calling a couple days in advance to add an extra night to the beginning of our stay, was told that the additional night had been confirmed. When we arrived about 10 minutes prior to the office closing, we were told that the additional night had not been confirmed, but that the individual checking us in would make us "very happy". I assumed given that the room we were to stay in wasn't yet booked, and they were clearly not going to book it for the night, he was going to give us a discount -- not so much. We got into the room and heard a distinct high pitched beeping sound, I went back down to the office to report it, and the individual who checked us in came up to the room - but said he couldn't hear the beeping, but promised that maintenance would come by in the morning. Fortunately, our baby was able to sleep through the beeping - my wife, on the other hand, couldn't. As we settled into the room the next day, we isolated the beeping to the fireplace, however, it took maintenance two days to figure out how to stop the beeping while keeping the fireplace on. Speaking of the fireplace, it also was not working the night of our arrival. Apparently the gas line to our room had been shut off by contractors who were working on the plumbing in the adjoining utility closet -- which ended up being a continual problem during our 4 night stay. Finally, we heard rodents throughout our stay while in our bedroom (my guess is they were in the wall). I get that that the presence of rodents is part of being in the forest, but I was surprised that the office staff suggested that it was more likely we were hearing the resident woodpecker -- two clearly distinct sounds. All in all, we will look for somewhere else to stay in our next trip. read more

A nice quaint lodge. It was nice to have a full kitchen to use. The futon turned into a nice queen sized. There was a LCD tv and blu ray player. The web site is a bit out dated and shows only a DVD player. Room didn't have a screen door so it was a bit of a downer. Couldn't leave the door open to help out the air out the room. The master bedroom did have a small room fan which did help push the air around. Our room didn't have a hot tub but really wasn't needed. The staff seemed friendly when we arrived and checked out. Our room was updated and fairly clean but the outside needs work. Weeds and cobwebs everywhere, especially around the pool area. They charge quite a bit but they don't have housekeeping come by so that saves them a lot of money. Our hot tub was also not serviced as promised. When pulling into Fawn Valley Inn, it was clear we'd selected the perfect location: a couple miles west of downtown Estes, sunken down from highway 34, with the river right behind it. We thought the front exterior looked a little weathered, but also thought maybe they paint right before the start of peak season (we were there late April). Our room however was more updated and cozy feeling than I expected based on the hallway we walked down. All their rooms facing the stream seemed nice as far as I could tell, but I think #107 might be the most private, which we appreciated. It had a hot tub, and I was impressed to learn they drain the tub after each checkout! So much better than most nasty communal hot tubs. We had our own grill and made steaks the first night. The igniter button on the grill had busted off, but the staff kindly came and lit it for us. The little kitchenette in our room was small but still had everything we needed. We did buy coffee from the local Safeway because the room came with folders... And we're snobs. We also had to buy Panteen at the local Safeway because the hotels shampoo was pretty lack luster and it was a 2-in-one... Again set aforementioned comment about snobbery. The rooms do not have blowdryers but you can borrow from the front desk. The staff were super courteous and helpful. Our room was super clean at check in. I loved that the bed had real sheets and they provided lovely soft towels. Really made it feel less like a traditional hotel stay. read more

You have to know what you're expecting here. It's not going to be a shiny new resort, but the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the location is awesome. Sitting in a hot tub overlooking the river after a long hike in RMNP is hard to beat. Pretty decent privacy on the deck hot tubs. Can be a bit expensive as has been stated but they have good sales on their site and Expedia so just keep your eyes peeled. Right across the street from a free shuttle stop into town if you don't want to deal with the insane parking in Estes. We've had 3 different rooms all with quite functional air conditioning so I am not sure what unfortunate event befell Justin H. As other reviewers stated the wifi is essentially nonfunctional so don't count on that. read more

We decided to give it another try a few months later in a standard room and it was a little better. We have stayed here the last 3 years. Our last experience was beyond awful. Sewage backed up in our shower... the maintenence came but didn't have a snake. Front desk didn't call the next morning to make sure everything was ok. Maintenance men climbing over our balcony without letting us know. They gave us a free night, so we thought we would give them one more chance. This time was just as bad. I got out of the shower and a young kid climbs over the balcony without letting me know, there were dirty cleaning towels left behind the bathroom door, trash all over the property, a running toilet and shaking and loud refrigerator. This best thing is the location to the RMNP Fall River entrance where there is no wait. The other entrance thru the town of Estes has tons of traffic. We just spent a late fall three day visit here. We had a 3 bedroom unit #279, with a full kitchen for $169/ night, and we took advantage of a special: buy 2 nights get 3rd free in fall/winter! So for three nights, 4 people, 3 bedrooms, it was a good deal. The kitchen had everything we needed to make meals. The living area had gas fireplace and two futons for additional guests, and we used the DVD player and borrowed The Shining from the front desk (lots of free movies). We had decks in front and back, and we had a great opportunity to watch a bull elk out back by the river. Older building but has decent renovations and decor. This place is the closest of all to the park entrance! We liked the cabin decor, great towels, plenty of extra bedding. Only two minor concerns: no hot water on Sunday morning at 10:00, and our unit was fairly hot being on the third floor, in October when it was only mid 50s outside. It cooled off quickly with door and window open, but doubt it would be cool enough to stay here in summer. Didn't see AC in this unit. Everything else was great and we will stay again as long as it's not hot summer! read more
