Loved the chopped brisquite sandwich. I was anguished over whether to hit it with the house BBQ sauce or eat it plain, and weather to eat it with the bun or plain. The beef was so good it seemed a shame not to eat it plain. Then I started drinking that slushie and it was clear, I wanted it all, bun, sauce and beef. Nestled in NULU, this BBQ joint boasts a simple menu of barbecue, sides, and a variety of drinks (alcoholic and non) sure to please any diner. Their sides are so plentiful that I believe even a vegetarian could be satisfied here (hello - Mac & Cheese!) Orders are placed at the counter as soon as you enter, and diners pick their own seats. Many tables are picnic style, and it would be easy to accommodate a wheelchair in the vast space inside Feast. They have high chairs for little ones, and I'd definitely rate this spot as family friendly. I tried the barbecue chicken and potato salad, paired with an absolutely perfect Monnik Saison. The chicken was perfect; soft and tender and slightly smoky. I added some of their original House BBQ sauce (which isn't too sweet or vinegar rich and, in the words of Goldilocks, was just right). My husband sampled the hot original bbq sauce and said he's never had better. The potato salad was the best I've ever had; creamy and fresh with just a hint of spice. Not too mushy or raw, but perfectly cooked and seasoned. Although it's a serve yourself kind of place, we were checked in on 3 times. All employees we encountered were sweet and accommodating and perfectly embodied the southern hospitality that we all know and love. Needs some work. I didn't find the food as enjoyable as expected. The vinegar in the collard greens was too overwhelming. Please STOP putting vinegar in the greens and put it on the table and let your customers add it of their own choosing. We were there on the night of Thunder over Louisville. They were quite busy, but not as packed as expected. We were lucky that we found parking spot in their lot, which has limited spots. It's a pretty neat place, which you order first, go find your spot, then chill and wait for the food to bring to your table. They have some outdoor seating, but it's right on Market Street, which can get pretty busy. We ordered pull pork sandwich with potato salad, baby back ribs with mac & cheese and sweet potato fries. We were driving through town, lots of restaurant choices to choose from, and so glad we chose feast barbecue. Feast shares a parking lot with a brewery, but ample parking on the street. Well, at least on a Sunday@3pm, over Labor Day weekend, and during a pandemic. The host greeted us, reviewed covid guidelines and sat us at a table. My partner tried American taco and Mexican style taco. He preferred American taco bc of the cole slaw mix that added more "sauce" to the flavor. This is my favorite BBQ in Louisville! Feast doesn't necessarily have one "must-order" item like some other BBQ joints in town, but you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. The brisket and pork are both delicious, but especially so when added to the loaded tots, my favorite item on the menu, although probably miscategorized as a "snack." Just don't forget to wash them down with an amazing bourbon slushie! This time my wife ordered brisket and I finally tried a pork taco. While I certainly enjoyed the taco as a change of pace from my usual order, it didn't stand out as much as Feast's more traditional items. read more

I gave Feast another chance. I am going to start this review by saying that I lived in Kansas City for 25 years, so I expect a lot from a BBQ place. I ordered a brisket plate with vinegar cole slaw and sweet potato fries. I asked the lady that took my order at the counter if I could have my brisket lean, and she said that was not an option. The brisket had a good flavor and it was tender, but a third of my portion was fat that I did not eat. Also, don't expect the unctuous bark that I love and expect. It also lacked a smoke ring, but I believe they have a different method of smoking. I wanted to talk to someone to hear about their method so I could be educated in the process and enhance my review but did not see anyone to talk to. The vinegar slaw was lacking flavor and could have used some celery seed but it was ok. The sweet potato fries were the best part of the meal thin and crispy. My friend had the tater tot appetizer with pork and slaw on top which looked sinful. I still need to visit another time to try one of their bourbon slushees they look refreshing. So overall, I would come back to drink and if it is my company's choice, but it is not my first choice for BBQ in Louisville. read more

We stopped in to try this location while traveling thru the area. The brisket plater was good - Mac n cheese was average with hard cheddar melted over the noodles. We're from Texas and expect our barbecue to wow us and this place did just that. The brisket was juicy and smoked to perfection. The sausage was just a touch hot and it would be easy to get addicted to.The potato salad was made with skin-on potatoes and was really good. The creamy slaw was good too but could be a tad creamier for my taste. Pickles and onion on the side topped the meal off perfectly. Delicious, filling....and served with bourbon slushies! Feast has amazing food. From pulled pork to chicken to tofu- they've got all the BBQ selections. And it's juicy, thick and filling. You don't even need BBQ sauce. But they have great sauces if you choose to use one. Love the vinegar the best, personally. All delicious though! As for the sides, you can't go wrong. From green beans to mac-and-cheese, they've got the fixin's you want. They also have some tasty desserts as well. A great beer selection. From local craft brews to standard domestics and imports. There is a full bar too. Oh and the bourbon slushies are amazing! Get one with chocolate/cherry flavors OR ale-8-one. Amazing!! Lots of seating inside and out. If I could give a 3.5 I would, because that's where this meal sat. I usually visit a place 3 times before I give a review. I've been here more than that. The first visit was amazing. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and the service was prompt. It was the bar by which I could compare other bbq restaurants in town. Lately the food has been of lower flavor, and it's been much more dried out. Now this could be due to the after prime-time dinner hours that I chose, so if you too are planning on after 9pm, perhaps the experience will be the same as this 3 star experience. Pulled pork plate: dry. I had to drown it in bbq sauce to get it down. It also lacked smoked or bbq flavor by itself. Mac-n-cheese: dry, and lumped cheese, bread crumbs were not melted into the cheese but sat loose on top. Potato salad: the potatoes were harder than a potato salad should have. You had trouble stabbing them with a fork. Drink: Ale 8 on tap. It was watered down. I love Ale 8, I had to dump this one for root beer. Overall, 3 of 5 experiences here have been below the initial expectation of a 5 star bbq. Don't let this review stop you from trying this place. As I mentioned, benefit of the doubt, my experiences were probably due to the time of day, and bbq does not do well unless just off the grill or soon after like you would get at peak, which for the record, is when I had my 2 great experiences. This was a Wednesday evening. I also just returned from a long international trip and was really expecting a great American bbq food experience as my personal welcome back. It fell far short. As a vegetarian, the lack of BBQ options has left a big gaping hole in my heart and my stomach. But here is a place with not only the vegetarian sides I've come to crave, but also TOFU options as main dishes! My partner and I split the tofu platter that came with two sides. We chose creamy cole slaw and mac + cheese- both were good, but not outstanding. I sorely missed cornbread as a side option, because I really don't believe BBQ should be eaten without corn bread. Oh well. The tofu was good, but not amazing. It was really tough. I doused it in sauce though, which is really all I ever want with barbeque anyway. The hot sauce was not hot, but more sweet, and I really liked it! The atmosphere was really inviting, and not too crowded. First off let me say I hate to be writing this right now. I've previously had a good experience at feast but been in a couple years. With the current pandemic, I've been doing my best to support local businesses often by getting curbside and takeout orders. Tonight, we were wanting bbq so Feast it was! Although we live near the Jtown location, they were out of the Wednesday wings so we decided we would make the drive downtown. I ordered curbside online which was super user friendly. We arrived out front, called and a young man rushed our food out with a smile on his face. We drove our 25 min drive home eager to dig in only to find that we were missing our wings! We were also missing our mac n cheese. I called in and told someone at the store who said they would refund it since they had our credit card info from the online order. I was excited to try this place after a recommendation from a friend. I was disappointed when they were out of the fried Mac and cheese balls but the sausage more than made up for it. If you like sausage, then you have to order it here. It's outstanding. Crispy skin, flavorful meat. I settled for the regular Mac and cheese side and it was just OK. Tasted like it had been sitting around for a while - crusted over cheese and it wasn't even hot. The bourbon slushee was pretty good, though mostly slushee and not enough bourbon . 4.5/5 stars. I love traveling with my dogs but it's very hard to find place that has outdoor seating when it's cold out. However, this place had picnic tables outside and the water for the dogs. Their menu choices isn't big, however, their food was GREAT. And the portions were fairly big. I've got brisket sandwich, sweet potato fries, Mac and cheese, loaded tater tots and bbq salad. Their briskets were tender and that's all that mattered to me. Their sides were good too. You line up to order food and they bring out the food to you. Food came out quickly and they also have bourbon slushy, which we did not try since it was freezing outside. They do serve beer and cider. What I didn't like much was their BBQ sauce. Feast BBQ is a trendy barbecue joint with plenty of seating and a good variety of food. The problem is that, as a barbecue lover, none of the food really captured my interest. We tried the LOADED TOTS WITH BRISKET, which were good but the coleslaw added to them made everything soggy. The slaw itself had a good flavor, but the texture and crunchiness of the tots was ruined because of the wetness of the slaw. We also shared the RIBS, as well as MACARONI AND CHEESE and BEANS. The ribs looked excellent, but what looked like good bark on it was actually a gummy, smoky sauce that distracted from the meat. The SAUCES on the table were much, much better, and had excellent flavor. The Mac and Cheese was just average, and the beans were very tomatoey, if you're into that. The best part of the meal was the BREAD PUDDING, which was prepared like small square donuts, but when you bite them they is creamy, moist bread pudding on the inside. Be warned, though, we ordered the bread pudding when we ordered the rest of our meal, thinking they would wait to start them until we were nearly finished with our meal. They came out first, as some sort of "life is short, eat dessert first" type of appetizer. I recommend ordering them separately after you have finished your food. Overall, this place was just average for a barbecue joint, but there's nothing wrong with the food here. If you find yourself in the area, or looking for food late at night (thankfully they're open later than most restaurants), then give it a try. read more

I really enjoying having a bite to eat a Feast! They have great options on their menu. You have your typical barbecue plus salads and tacos. The tacos are one of my favorites and the shells are gluten free! The man at the register taking my order was kind and patient as I asked if certain items were gluten free. I would love to see the menu labeled. You stand in line to order, they give you a number, and bring your food out. I've enjoyed everything I've tried and I have tried several items before I found out about my gluten allergy. It's casual and a great place for friends, family, and kids. I'm struggling with this review . I really want to do a 3.5 but Yelp says a 4 is "Yay I'm a fan" but the "A-ok" with 3 sounds more about right here. I'm thinking they may use colby, or another cheese that doesn't really have much of a taste but it left more to be desired. Like most BBQ places you get a very small helping of sides and they came in 5.5oz cups which is fine considering that it wasn't that good. Salt and pepper really came in handy but you had to go request it from the bar because it wasn't available on the tables. The greens were actually pretty good considering that I've never been a fan of collard but they were on the greasy side. If I were to return I'd probably stick to ala cart meat items. read more
