Jeannie was great with our birds!! I can honestly say this was the first time we have been able to go away and know they were going to have fun and be in good hands. Before we left when we dropped them off getting them quickly acquainted etc. Our female gray parrot was stepping up for Jeannie and flying to her. Jeannie is also very good at observing behaviors and listening when we described our kiddos personalities:) We have 3 birds and they're all very different. Our birds really enjoyed their time with auntie Jeannie and the flock. We can't say enough good things about our experience! It was also so convenient:) Daily updates with pics and videos too. Jeannie is amazing! I had my two cockatiels stay with her while I was away for 10 days. They had a great time! She took each one out for daily one-on-one time and sent regular e-mail updates with pictures. I highly, highly recommend her care! My trip was great, and even more enjoyable knowing my boys were well-cared for. When I returned to pick them up, she had already packed their bag and helped me get them in their carrier. Jeanie did a great job! She took excellent care of my boy and sent daily update with pictures and videos. He took to her really fast. I highly recommend her for bird care. Her place is very clean and sanitized. This is the first time Sully didn't give me the back turned angry treatment when I got him home. He chattered at me the entire ride home and has been a super happy bird. Normally, we go through an angry bird stage when we leave. Not this time, I think he had a great time! Jeannie Souza was referred to me a few years ago by Dr. Jennifer Graham at Tufts Veterinary School of Medicine. Dr. Graham and her team in my humble opinion are THE authority on our feathered friends. Their expertise is worth the drive from E Derry, NH - and so is Jeannie's. She is a dear heart who I trust emphatically with my 2 beloved cockatiels, Boo Boo & Schatzi - aka my "feathered children." The Featherbed Resort for Birds is THE place to go if you have birds needing to be cared for while you are away. One of my birds has an ongoing health challenge and therefore has been on and off medication for 8 of the ten years I have had him. Basically, he is "special needs" with priority being meds, a warmer climate, and just a little bit of extra TLC. If you also have a bird who needs a bit of extra TLC (and whose pets don't get a little stressed when in a different environment?), you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that he/she will be in the best possible care while he stays with Jeannie. She's got it covered and then some. I have counted on Jeannie for many years, multiple vacations and business trips - and she has never let me down. She has her own very good sized cages so that you don't have to schlep yours. There are plenty of other birds for your bird(s) to socialize with. And, it is not uncommon to get a regular update complete with photos while you are traveling which also inspires major confidence. My birds always remember her when they see her and it is clear they also adore her as they respond to her like they do to me. They are not so open to every one so this in itself speaks volumes. Can't say enough about Jeannie. She is amazing, my green cheek conure barely even notices I've been gone when I go to pick him up. She works with you on meal preferences and gives your special friend the love they would get at home. The cages are immaculate and she is so organized- it's great. She makes vacations even better knowing my guy is taken care of and sends pictures to help make me feel even better. (Worried bird mother problems. Jeannie cared for our conures and budgies during my 6-month overseas military deployment, and took time (despite time zone challenges) to Skype call with us and the "kids". She took care of an emergent vet issue, and kept us updated on costs, progress the whole way. We've sent the kids back "camp" when we go on vacation several times. We'll have a hard time finding another like Featherbed Resort anywhere else we move. Her special love and care for our birds is appreciated beyond words--she is a warm, sweet, sincere person; and we often talk about the next time we send the kids to "Aunt Jeannie" for a while. I highly recommend using Featherbed Resort for Birds! Jeannie is the extremely attentive to the needs of your birds and has more bird-specific knowledge than any of the pet store or vet boarding facilities I have visited. Birds tend not to get the best care at these other places, but at Featherbed Resort you know that your bird will always be taken care of. I have worked in the zoology and pet care field for many years and would not make this recommendation lightly. Jeannie has cages in her home that make it easier to transport your bird, but also encourages you to bring your own treats and toys to make the transition easier. And there will always be other birds around to keep your bird company. She also allows you to visit before to help make an informed decision about where you are boarding your pet. This place has made it so much easier for me to feel comfortable taking vacations because I know my birds will be well cared for! read more

Jeannie is wonderful!! She just cared for my 6-year-old budgie for a long weekend. Her communication throughout this whole process was phenomenal--from arranging the boarding to the drop off to the pick up. I received text updates (with pictures!) letting me know how he was doing and how much she enjoyed him. She let him out of the cage whenever possible, which is so important to me! When I picked him up, she had him all ready to go and his bag was all packed. Easy all around! My boy was so happy to be at Featherbed! I brought my five-month-old quaker parrot to Jeannie at the Featherbed Resort when I had to go out of town for a week, and I can tell he had a blast! When I dropped him off, I got to arrange his cage the way I liked it as well as meet the other birds staying in her home. She sent me texts and a photo of him while I was away to reassure me that my little one was having a great time. He came back happy and healthy, and I was grateful that he'd been able to spend some time around other parrots while I was gone. She cooked him warm food and spent time with him out of the cage to keep him mentally stimulated. I trust her with my bird and would recommend the Featherbed Resort to any bird owner in the Boston area. Prices are essentially the same as other bird boarders in the metro area. I could tell right away that Jeannie really loves birds - my parrot immediately loved her! - and I would not hesitate to take him here again next time I have to travel. read more

Jeannie is the bird whisperer. We have been taking our red-bellied parrot to her for the past five years whenever we go on vacation. He adores her, and so do we. She has an amazing way with parrots (and humans too). She allows the birds to fly one at a time (unless of course the owners don't want them to), so each parrot gets plenty of exercise, attention and loving care. I don't know where we'd be without Jeannie. We've been using her services for years. Our little Senegal *loves* to go stay with her. He used to stay with another woman and we could see that he felt lonely and eager to get home when we picked him up. Never the case with Jeannie. He adores her - she's like a member of the family. And, having known Jeannie for years, I know she cares deeply about each of her charges, and goes out of her way to make sure they are safe and happy. In fact - just one example - our little one escaped our house and flew up into a tree by the street last fall. Jeannie drove most of an hour to our place to see if she could do anything to coax him down (no one could... we ended up hiring a man with a bucket truck to go up and get him the next day). That's how committed Jeannie is to the welfare of the birds she cares for. She's a love, and the birds all know it too. read more

Jeannie just watched my two Green Cheek conures and did such an amazing job! One of them is very anxious and every time I've boarded him before, he gets so nervous he goes to town chewing off his feathers because he never gets out of the cage. As soon as my birds met Jeannie, they took a liking to her and stepped up for her almost right away. They usually never do that for strangers. She was so accommodating and I know they got plenty of out of cage interaction time. They didn't pluck at all and seemed downright happy while I was gone. Featherbed Resort For Birds for birds is definitely one of the best options for boarding your feathered friend/child around Boston! We have a green cheek conure, and he was taken really good care by Jeannie while we were traveling. Jeannie is so nice and friendly that our conure stepped up on her fingers immediately (which he rarely does)! She is also absolutely professional in making sure all boarded birds are healthy, getting to know each bird well (by a questionnaire she created!), providing large cages and following your birds' diet, and most importantly playing with/cuddling them and allowing them to spend some time out of the cage. During our trip, she also sent us updates with pictures (as mentioned by other reviewers). When we picked up our conure, we could see that he had a great time with Jeannie and other neighbors. We highly recommend Jeannie and her resort for birds, and will surely ask for her help when we travel in the future. read more
