Love love love Nicky! Having gotten my eyebrows microbladed multiple times, I like to think I have a pretty good point of view/deep experience in messing with your face. Nicky's technique is very different from microblading but the end goal is somewhat similar - have stroke-like eyebrow tattoos that seem realistic vs. scary sharpie brows (what most people think of when you say "eyebrow tattoo"). First off the logistics - Nicky is incredibly easy to schedule and communicate with. She has online scheduling and is also very responsive in texts. Parking is also a breeze as she works out of a residential area. When you get there Nicky takes the time to explain her process, adjust your brows and make sure you have the right amount of time to get numbed up and comfortable. She then tattoos your brows, re-numbs, and then touches it up to fill in any gaps. The end result is beautiful and very natural, with much less fussiness during healing than microblading. It's also an incredibly COMFY procedure. I have a pretty high pain tolerance so microblading was tolerable, but this felt like I wasn't having anything done at all! You only feel a slight tapping/vibration sensation. Microblading vs feathering: - Feathering is done stroke by stroke with a machine, vs. microblading which has a hand tool with several blades to make many strokes at once - There is considerably more bleeding with microblading and they're constantly "rubbing in" the ink to the wound - It's less painful - Healing time is shorter and the brows are much less stiff while healing and finicky - Feathering fades away vs. microblading tends to discolor with age Overall would totally recommend Nicky and love that she's a woman-owned small business! As someone who is currently in the grind (she's previously worked in tech as well) it was really fun to ask her about her life and the steps she took to start her own thing. I decided to try Nicky's services because I was intrigued by feathering, and I read that she trained in South Korea so I felt I could trust that aesthetic haha. I had my appointment with Nicky back in December and just got my retouch done yesterday. Initially I was nervous - 1) because I didn't know if it would be painful and 2) my eyebrows naturally aren't that light so I wasn't sure microblading would be impactful. It wasn't painful at all! Nicky puts on a numbing cream that's pretty effective - I only felt a slight sting towards the end of my initial appointment. For the touch-up, I literally felt no pain. Weird because she said it's usually more sensitive during touch-up! Nicky took her time measuring to ensure that everything is symmetrical and that the proportions were right for my face. She definitely refined the shape so my brows always look polished now. The color started dark but faded to a nice natural color. I'm so happy with how it turned out! I cannot speak highly enough of Nicky! This was my first dabble into semi-permanent makeup and she ensured I felt comfortable, taken care of, and empowered throughout the entire process. I had been wanting to get my eyebrows micro-bladed after seeing so many friends do it BUT I'm so glad I met Nicky and was able to learn about her feathering technique instead! Feathering utilizes 1 nano-needle as opposed to micro-blading which can use up to 8 needles at once. This means the lines are finer, the shade/shape looks more natural, and the healing time is near ZERO. I was afraid of potentially having to hide scabby/peeling eyebrows for a week, but due to this technique (which Nicky went to Korea to learn as someone who wanted to pursue her craft and hone her skills seriously), I was able to walk out into the rest of my day with ease. Nicky is also a former designer so you KNOWWWW she has that designer eye when she's drawing in your ideal eyebrow shape!! I'm pretty lackadaisical (eh that looks good) so I really appreciated the intense attention to detail with which she drew my brows. I got my first treatment done in May and my touchup in December - longer than usual due to our schedules not lining up. I made the mistake of getting microbladed previously, and in addition to the fade, my brows turned a ridiculous red/orange after the final touchup faded. This review is based 3 months after the complimentary touch up appointment. I got my brows originally done by Nicky on the first week of July. Came back for my free touch up about 6-7 weeks later on the first week of September. It is now 3 months later (Dec 2nd) and I can say that having my eyebrows feathered by Nicky saves me a lot of time in the morning and I'm glad I got them done. I'm someone with minimal hair and has unevenness from one brow to the other. Now, I can literally get up and go and not look as crazy without any makeup since my brows are already there. I will say my brows have faded a lot but they still look natural and again at least somethings there. The pics I included are without any make up in natural light so you can see the brows in its integrity. When I go out I will shade them In lightly just because they are light but I'm fine with that because again at least I have eyebrows. I knew I didn't want to get my eyeliners tattooed by some random Asian salons and be stuck with faded bluish green eyeliners months or years later. Nicky the owner is super responsive, I scheduled my appointment with her via Instagram and she provided me with clear pre-appointment care instruction. The day of, I didn't quite know what to expect but Nicky explained each and every steps to me and reassured me that the process isn't really painful. Her studio is very clean and her tools and equipment were well kept and sterilized. Nicky told me a bit about her background and how she learned the technique from Korea. It made me feel really happy to hear that she was selective about where to learn her technique because she wanted to provide the best result of nonfading/discolored brows or eyeliners. To be honest, the 2-hour process wasn't really painful. The numbing cream does sting but you will get over it after a min or two. I like to think that Nicky is naturally gifted with amazing dexterity, she did an amazing job on my eyeliners!! She gave me some really good feedback on the eyeliners thickness and wings. I went for medium thickness and a tiny bit of wings. I had my touch up last night (about two months after my first session) and I decided to go thicker and longer wings. The process took about 1.5 hours. Nicky is very personable and easy to talk to, the 1.5 hours went by super quick and I walked out of the studio with some lovely semi permanent eyeliners!! For both sessions, I did experience a bit of swelling around my eyelids the following day, which is very normal. I was still able to go to work and do my l routine duties. I feel like I saved so much time/eyeliners make up/make up remover these days! I was so nervous to try microblading. (or maybe this is called feathering, i'm not sure) But let's face it I was tired of pencilling in my eyebrows constantly. What I had left of my eyebrows had started to turn white so it looked like I had no eyebrows at all. Scary sight! I can't say enough about how happy I am with the result. Nicky at Featherhaus did a wonderful job. My brows look so natural and better than they ever did with a brow pencil. I had my initial appointment with Nicky for eyeliner tattoo last year. I went back after a year for touch up and the experience was just as great as last time. Nicky is an artist ! She listens to my preference and did my eyeliner to my liking. She is also very attentive and made sure the numbing cream and the tattoo process didn't hurt me. She was so gentle so the pain level was 0.5 for me. To be honest I didn't really need a touch up because the tattoo was great, didn't fade at all after one year!
