I am one of the those women that doesn't wear make up. Tinted sunscreen and lip stain are pretty much the extent of what I wear out. My eyebrows are very blonde, so I used to have to put on brow gel or wax/powder to color them in, otherwise I look washed out. I went to Anna to get my eyebrows done. She worked with me to choose the ideal shape by first sitting with me at a mirror while she colored in my eyebrows with a pencil before starting, and then 30 minutes later: VOILA!! If you are thinking about getting your brows done, just do it! It's amazing how much properly shaped brows can pull together your look. And the feeling of waking up with your brows looking fab? Worth every little penny. I have darker brows but I would still draw them in daily, and I still couldn't correct the asymmetry. I finally went in for a microblade consult, and Anna suggested I try soft powder brows instead to achieve the more made up look I wanted. The entire procedure took just over 1.5 hours, with 40 minutes of that ensuring they got the shape I wanted. My eyes are also a bit asymmetrical, so it was especially tricky. One lady drew in the brows using brow pencil, then Anna came and reshaped them again. When I was happy with the shape, they put numbing gel on. After 20 minutes of numbing, they worked their magic with the semi-permanent pigment tool. The pain wasn't too bad, and it took about 40 minutes to apply the pigment. Healing takes a month, then you go back for a touch up to darken the color which fades a bit after the scabbing peels off. After the touch up, results are supposed to last 1-3 years. It's been three months after my initial procedure, and I still wake up with excitement that my brows are already done. I can't recommend enough! read more

I had my eyebrows microbladed for the first time in 2015 and went with a business that had great Yelp reviews. After a few months, the color faded to a hideous reddish brown (almost orange), and I had to cover it with eyebrow pencil every time I went out. Even after a couple of touchups to fix, the eyebrows always faded to the horrible clown color. She said different people take the colors differently. I don't know about that but I researched and some said it had to do with poor quality dye and/or the incorrect matching of dye color to skin tone. The business has since closed. In the fall of 2020, when things were starting to re-open, I really needed to have my eyebrows fixed. Even though I was still working from home, I couldn't stand looking at myself plus my kids asked me why my eyebrows were orange. I didn't know anyone who had their eyebrows done so I went to Yelp again. I found Anna's Beauty Salon, went in for a consultation, and decided to go with them. I was cautiously optimistic. They took the time to draw out my "new" eyebrows (something the other person did not do... just went with my old eyebrow shapes), and they told me they would try to laser any outstanding orange color. Anna told me I was not a good candidate for microblading, that my skin was too thin, so we went with the soft powder. It took a few months of laser (mild discomfort) to remove the remaining orange but I'm finally done. I had my eyebrows and eyeliner done by Anna yesterday. I've had my eyebrows done in the past but was never satisfied with the results. They have always been too thin, too arched and too unrealistic looking. After researching online, I went with Anna because of her extensive background and photo gallery. She had fewer reviews than other places but after researching around, I found that it was because she recently opened up her shop in San Mateo. Anyway, I have been unhappy with my brows for over 13 years. I've had it done several times to try fix it and with at least 3 other places. No one ever seemed to get what I wanted...I would tell them exactly what I wanted but they'd do what they wanted anyway. I was usually in and out within 30 mins and it never looked anything close to real. What made Anna really stand out was that she actually listened and together we came up with exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, she had to deal with/fix my bad brow job. Even though I was her last appointment, she did not rush at all and spent a long time with me to get the perfect shape for me...which was due to the fact that my previous shape was so odd.
