I had surgery with Dr. Laverson in 2023, including a brachioplasty, abdominoplasty, and mastopexy with fat transfer. While I'm currently seeking revisions, this review is not about the surgical results, but rather about my experience with the office's business practices.
In April, I had an in-office scar revision scheduled that was initially offered at no charge. Due to a personal emergency, I had to cancel on short notice. I spoke with Cherise at the office, who was kind and reassured me that it wasn't a problem and that they'd likely fill the spot. We rescheduled without issue.
A week later, I received a text canceling my appointment because Dr. Laverson was "unhappy" with the late cancellation and questioned whether I even wanted the revision. I was shocked and honestly hurt by this. Such an unprofessional accusation. I didn't expect to be penalized for having a personal emergency. I still wanted the procedure, so I rebooked -- this time with a $500 booking fee.
Another concern: I paid for liposuction to my knees and flanks, which Dr. Laverson and I mutually decided not to do on the day of surgery. When I later asked about a refund, I was told that because I received a discount for bundling procedures, they considered the liposuction "free" and didn't think a refund of any kind was warranted. In other words, I paid for a service I never received. The email response ended with, "We like you Carolyn, enjoy your results," which felt dismissive and condescending.
While I understand that elective surgery often comes with nuances in pricing, I believe that ethical practices should include clear communication and fair handling of cancellations and refunds. Unfortunately my experience left me feeling disregarded and undervalued. For these reasons, I would not recommend this practice to anyone. read more
