This bootcamp is a joke!! It's so disorganized. When I signed up, I never recieved any instructions on what to do, I had to contact the instructor. When you arrive for the first time at the class you don't feel welcomed and the trainer AJ excepts you to know all the exercises. He never demonstartes anything. Plus, he makes fun of you if you can't do something and doesn't have an alternative exercise for you to do. If you want to lose weight this is the place to be but you can't complain or be lazy. He defintely has some favorites in the class. All he does is just stand around and socialize with the girls he really knows, doesn't really pay attention to the other clients in the class. I've taken extreme burn bootcamp w/ Von James and it's so much better. They are friendly and help you throughout the whole work out. read more

I've been attending this bootcamp for about 4 months. It is the first bootcamp I have attended, and I was very pleasantly surprised. I was in good shape when I started, but am definitely in better shape now. AJ's methods are very effective. He is a very successful bodybuilder with an amazing body. Obviously, he knows what he is doing. Each workout is different, some focusing on cardio, and others on strength training. Either way, AJ is always pushing you. Yes, some of us have been attending bootcamp with AJ for a long time; and yes, we do socialize while working out. However, socializing and joking around do not constitute "getting distracted". AJ's focus is always on the workout and making us "feel the burn". AJ also tends to modify workouts to tailor them to each individual's needs. This review is for the Woodland Hills location. Chris is an awesome trainer! I was very nervous about starting a boot camp. I thought if this is one of those militant style bootcamps where they scream in your face to try to motivate you i'll last about 5 minutes! Feel The Burn is the complete opposite. Chris pushes you and makes you want to give more. It's all about going at your own pace. There are people of all ages and sizes in the class and everyone is always rooting for you and encouraging you to finish. The classes vary, one day can be upper body, the next is legs and then cardio. There is a mix of core workouts included and warm up and cool down and stretching. He talks to you about nutrition and asks you about what you are eating. He gives advice about what you should eat before and after your workout and will also give you a basic meal plan to follow for your information. The best part is that he's funny. Well he thinks he's funny! LOL! But he's a great guy! You are doing the class and think you can't go anymore and then.....it's over! Before you know it you have just completed a rigorous hour workout and you feel great!! It's awesome!! read more

I was not sure what to expect from Feel the Burn Bootcamp, and I was a little scared going in... But I have to say, this is absolutely the best workout program I've tried so far. When I had seen the number of groupons purchased for this bootcamp, I was worried it would be overcrowded and hard to follow the routine with so many people, but after my first day, I was pleasantly surprised. It is not overly packed, and our trainer, AJ, is able to give individual attention throughout all the routines. He's very helpful in making sure you workout with proper form and makes sure you push yourself to get the best results. In addition, he's very knowledgeable and will give you helpful hints about fitness and nutrition before, during and after class. One of the things I like most about the bootcamp is that it's a great mix of both cardio and strength training that changes from day to day. AJ has incorporated weights and (outrageously heavy) tires into the workouts, while mixing in sprints, core workouts and everything imaginable under the sun. I'm not going to lie - this is a TOUGH workout, but AJ always keeps it interesting... And it's all definitely worth it. There are people of all ages and fitness levels and the encouragement from the people around you never end. I was going to the gym and hitting the weights six days a week for the last couple of years doing the same old cardio routines...Don't get me wrong I was seeing change but I knew I had to change things up some more...I needed to incorporate more cardio but running suxs so I turned to AJ at Feel the Burn Bootcamp. He lit a fire under me and made cardio fun again! Sure there is some running involved but he made it fun and competitive. It is never the same workout. He incorporates cardio and weight training to perfection! He pushed me to work against myself to work harder. I met lots of cool people and made new friendships that continue outside of bootcamp. I though I knew all I needed to know about nutrition and fitness but AJ taught me new things and he was always was receptive to my questions. I took the afternoon/evening class at Moorpark with A.J. Pros: - The workouts are challenging and helpful - The class size was pretty small - Plenty of free street parking on Moorpark - Weights are provided (bring your own mat/towel) - It's nice to get fresh air Cons: - I concur that the instructor can get distracted by girls he knows and leaves the rest of the group to fend for themselves. Sometimes he seems disinterested - Being outside in a park means uneven ground which can affect your running - Being outside also means that it gets dark/hot/cold while you workout - also: bugs (sometimes) The workouts were always different and challenging, switching up weights/calisthenics, running laps and ab work. Sometimes there would be a giant tire for us to move across the park - talk about working hard! I suggest you bring weight lifting or gardening gloves on those days; you will get blisters. read more

As most, I started this bootcamp with a Groupon and the intention of getting back in shape. SUCCESS!! I have noticed a HUGE difference in my endurance, muscle tone, strength, mood, and excercise habits. I have lost 14 pounds so far and dropped 2 pant sizes (27 days in) . I have only taken classes with Owner/Trainer Aj, and will continue as long as possible! He's AWESOME!! This review is for Chris at the Woodland Hills Location. I've been going for about 3 weeks now and love the class. It's a grueling workout but at the same time fun. . Chris works you super hard but in such a way that you can't hate him for it - he yells to push you along but in the same breath giggles and jokes around with you. He also has a good knowledge of things and is always happy to answer any questions that you throw his way... The classes are small, the trainer is awesome and the workout is pretty hard core. I was given a groupon for this bootcamp and took the 5pm classes with AJ. I will admit this was a great workout but intense! If you haven't worked out in awhile be prepared and ease into it. I went 3 days a week for 3 weeks and had lost a few pounds and not to mention feeling a bit more energetic. AJ the instructor was considerate to how I was feeling but still pushed me to my limit, which was a good thing. He also cracked some jokes here and there, which made the workout more fun. Sometimes he does get distracted by having conversations with his clients that have been going for awhile but this doesnt bother me. im there to workout and have fun. Unfortunately due to a medical condition I was not able to continue. If I get the ok from the doctor, I will definitely go back! Got a deal on Groupon for 30 days. I went for 2 classes before i injured my ankle doing leap frog exercises. Plyometrix just isn't for everybody and now I know it's not for me. The instructor, AJ wasn't very attentive or taught people the correct position or form to do certain exercises properly. I blame it on the larger class and more bodies for him to watch. Granted, there was a disclaimer which basically forewarned that the class was not for the weak. But given that we're not in a perfect world and there are people who do not know what proper form is. I feel a little more time could've been spared to educate those few people on the correct form of an exercise. And I really wish I would've known that Plyometrix isn't for everybody because I would've opted to do another workout equally comparable, and perhaps lasted longer than 2 sessions. All in all, I enjoyed the workouts and definitely felt the burn. read more

Feel the Burn Bootcamp is great! I'm 35 and began exercising for the first time in my life in mid January. A friend invited me to boot camp, and I started attending in February. Since that time, I've lost 25 pounds and gone from a size 38w pants to size 34w -- for the first time in over 10 years! AJ is great and helpful and really cares about the success of his clients. Another thing I like is that most of the exercises we do can be replicated at home if I'm unable to attend camp. That way I don't feel like I'm losing ground when my schedule conflicts with camp. I love this workout!! I got rid of my gym membership b/c I never went. I found out about this bootcamp!! Its so much fun to workout with other people and its great to be outdoors. I found Feel The Burn Bootcamp through Groupon. To be honest I was a bit worried that "bootcamp" meant I would have a drill-sergeant wanna-be yelling in my face the whole time in an attempt to "motivate" me.... All the same I was desperate from something, ANYTHING!! to break me out of my weight-loss plateau. To my delight and surprise AJ's bootcamp wasn't at all what I expected. If what you are looking for is a great group of people working together to support and motivate each other while sweating buckets THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU!!!! AJ offers modifications for injuries and will answer any and all questions, all-be-it, sarcastically ;) What makes this workout great, aside from the people, is the fact that it is never the same. Just when you think you know what's coming AJ throws something else into the mix. I would definitely recommend this business and this workout. Is it cheap? Nope. This is long overdue as I've been going to the Studio City early morning bootcamp for about 2 years now. I got rid of my gym membership 1.5 years ago since going to AJ's class and the occasional run suffice for me. I can honestly say that the last 2 years have been the fittest I've been in my life. You will definitely feel sore when you first start this class, and depending on the workout of the day, you might be sore even when you're a regular like me. I like the small group format, the challenging and varied workouts, and (dare I say it) AJ's personality and sense of humor. AJ corrects individuals' form and is always demanding your best. There are both very fit people and some less physically gifted people, and you can get a lot out of the class no matter your level of fitness. My husband starting going with me and he enjoys the class too, but doesn't like waking up so early. For someone who works long hours like me and wants a structured fitness program, I think the 5:30am workout option is great. There is also a 7:00pm Burbank class. Cons: bring bug spray in warmer weather so you don't get mosquito bites. read more

Chris and AJ are awesome I was very nervous about working out for the first time in months ok maybe years, but they were patient with me and let me work at my own pace which is tortoise like at best. I am going to be 45 in a four months and like I said earlier I was nervous about not only working out but being surrounded by nubile flat bellied 20 somethings that would make me feel old and fat. This was definitely not the case, there was a great mixture of every fitness level and age. I did not at anytime feel intimidated by any one in the group or the trainers. As a matter of fact everyone was extremely supportive as I stumbled through the exercises and waddled I mean ran around the cones! I enjoyed myself, but best of all, I did not wake up horribly sore this morning and that was what I was most afraid of! Thank you for offering the deal through Groupon because I would not have been able to afford it otherwise. I may not be able to continue after the offer expires, but at least this will be a great kickstart to getting me in shape! read more

Moorpark Park Location- Like most here, I started this bootcamp to kickstart getting back in shape. I arrived my first day and was glad to see that many others were in the same boat. What really bothers me is that the instructor, A.J. never asked if there was anyone with any injuries he should be aware of. He also did not offer alternate exercises for those not quite in shape. Nor did he demonstrate proper form. I have hip and knee problems, and he had us doing a lot of jumping and squatting for two classes in a row. When I tried to go at my own pace he badgered me. He told me unless I had screws holding my ankles on, I needed to keep going. I said that was fine if he would pay for my knee surgery. He replied that he'd do the surgery himself for free. I think he thinks he's being funny, but I was not amused. I think this particular instructor is ok for anyone already in shape who is aware of proper form, and those who can just ignore AJ and do what they need to do, as long as they know their own limits. Otherwise someone is likely to really do some damage to their bodies if they push themselves over their limit just to keep up. I understand trying to get people to push themselves, but it is really important to let people start at an appropriate level and then move up so they see improvement. Rather than causing them to injure themselves or be so intimidated they just don't want to come back- like me. I made it through 4 classes. I would have continued if I had felt encouraged and motivated, rather than badgered and belittled. **I want to add that some people seemed really motivated by AJ's, I just wasn't. I don't think he was being mean, because he always had a smile. I think he was trying to be funny. Just wasn't encouraging for someone like me in my mid 40s. But I do think paying more attention to what people's limitations are, or at least acknowledging that people are at different levels, and may need some adjustments, would make it a much better experience. read more

Feel the burn bootcamp is the best work out i have ever had, it works out your whole body and it feels like your actually doing something, its fun, its outdoors, I LOVE IT, and its very addicting to keep on going,and its only one hour you can go in the morning or evening and time just goes quickly and i feel really good after the workouts, i hate it when i cant go to bootcamp, plus the people and trainers are very nice and friendly, you dont feel intimidated. There is not one time that I went to Feel The Burn Bootcamp where I didn't leave feeling great! AJ is a great motivator who has a plethora of knowledge when it comes to fitness. He was always available for questions, suggestions, support. I appreciated the varied workouts each time I attended. I also had the pleasure of meeting some amazing men and women with similar goals. Everyone was always friendly and willing to help pull each member through any given task. At first the idea of attending bootcamp was a little intimidating, as I had never done. I signed up for the Chatsworth location, for the month (unlimited) and after the first workout I realized this was for me because I could barely walk back to my car! The workout is intense, awsome and I definitely felt the burn. A.J. is a good instructor and he knows just how hard to push, the classes are a good size (not too big or too small) and everyone is supportive. After three weeks I can see a change in my body and I can feel more strength and energy. read more

The Unbootcamp Bootcamp...... I am not athletic, never have been, however, about two years ago I attended a Bootcamp and although it was only suppose to be a few sessions this November will be two years, I have been a part of the Feel The Burn Bootcamp (FTBB). I am now 40 years old, I do not like to be yelled at or put down, let alone pay someone to do that. FTBB does not work that way, it is a close group that is very supportive of each other and very encouraging. AJ runs the afternoon FTBB in Studio City on Mondays, and Wednesdays to Fridays; Chatsworth on Saturday mornings. He is a phenomenal personal trainer, he is encouraging, supportive, motivating and a jokester (he laughs at his own jokes, cause nobody else will), and he cares. He incorporates weights and cardio as well as other props to expand our workouts. Our Bootcamp has people of different ages, weights and sizes, even my BEAUTIFUL 4 year old niece, has worked out with us at Bootcamp. Feel The Burn Bootcamp just works well. Convenient, I can attend the FTBB in the evenings at 6:00 PM in Studio City or 5:30 AM all for the same price, convenient! Chris runs the AM Bootcamp and it is also a great leader and its a great group too. I'm happy to report that since I joined the FTBB I have lost over 120 lbs and maintained it.
