    Training at TrainingMate

Best thing I did a year ago was to joined this AWESOME gym class!!! After pandemic it was a bit hard to get back in shape and build the commitment, but once I found TM my motivation went through the roof. It's a positive and dynamic atmosphere, it truly is for anyone. Its more then a gym is a community. I'm absolutely beyond satisfied, I am truly so thankful for TrainingMate! Give yourself a chance to look hot and sexy and give it a try! I invite you! Sumamente agradecido con mi TrainingMate! Absolutamente recomendado para cualquier persona. Date el chance de tener un cuerpo sano y sexy!

Ok look; here's the thing... My friend texted a group of us the other day and asked "do you guys want to do a hiit class with me in studio city tomorrow" and I laughed and was like... hiit workouts are so hard for me (read between the lines ABSOLUTELY not) because I have asthma and it just tends to be exacerbated by anything resembling cardio. HOWEVER out of sheer Gemini driven curiosity, I yelped it. I would be lying if I didn't tell you, as soon as I laid my eyes on "Australian" I texted back and was like... ok fine count me in. All my friends know I'm obsessed with all things Aussie so I signed up faster then you can say "G'day" and let me tell you the moment I stepped foot into Training Mate I was in Heaven. Being called babe all session in the accent really just hit me right in the happiness As fate would have it that morning I woke up and the friend who had invited me had texted me at like 6 am telling me she'd been sick and wasn't going so she would pay for my cancellation fee but I decided since I was already awake and had made a commitment that I should go and it was the best decision I could have made. Ok so enough story telling let me give you the facts: I took the 9:30 am Friday class which was the thunder down under with Dan. Then the following Monday (the day I'm writing this) I went back for the 9:30 am Bondi Burn with Zac. Both classes were the 45 mins with an ab section at the end. I personally had no issues either day with parking (both times on Ventura blvd, metered 2hr parking, and block and side as the studio) though it's been a complaint in several of the reviews. I also drive a ton so parking tends to not stress me out so keep that in mind. Honestly I just think if you can give yourself enough time you'll be ok. It just might be hard if you're running late as I believe they do not allow late arrivals (could be wrong for that part tho) I took both classes using credits from the 2 week free trial of class pass. I think the first was 3 credits and the second either 7 or 9. The actual memberships to this studio I'll include in a photo BUT I will say this. It's not expensive but it IS and investment. What I mean by that is that for what you get, if you do the math per class and you'll actually go consistently, It's quite affordable (and on par with membership prices from a lot of different studios) BUT it's enough of a cost that it most likely will be a budget consideration for some. It's not a 30-50 dollar membership to an LA Fitness. I had a membership to a different gym for like 35 bucks a few years ago but I stopped going. 40 bucks was sucky to waste but I didn't tend to feel it too much, but this would definitely not be something you'd want to just throw out. That being said, I'm already starting the job of trying to figure out how I can make the M8 membership fit into my budget. I am NOT in shape in any way shape or form. I get winded easily, I can't do abs to save my life, and I have historically been an "I hate working out" person but I do NOT hate Training Mate. I immediately felt welcomed. On my first day Dan spent a good amount of time before walking me through how the stations went and what the circuits would look like. I met Zac that day as well and he remembered me days later when I came to his class. Both were super uplifting, friendly, and helpful, and I felt pushed but also seen if that makes sense. They stopped to help a few form issues at various times, and also went around (especially Zac) with some encouraging words for people, remembering names as they went. It has a very family feel, and as someone who always feels a bit out of place, it was a nice change especially in a gym environment where it would be easy to feel intimidated. After my second class I spoke at the front desk with I believe she said her name was Amy (hope that's correct) and she was also very helpful telling me about membership levels and such. It's also a nice touch that you can put your card on file so when you need to purchase something (water bottles if you're me and never remember one) it's super easy (though they're a bit pricey). There are towels for the machines and the people, two bathrooms I believe, and a little retail area in the front. What I loved about the actual workout was that it feels so doable. 45 seconds is a lot easier to manage so at each time if I was struggling I was able to see the clock running down in intervals that never felt too crazy, and if I needed to stop it didn't feel awkward because it wasn't for too long. Anyways, TL;DR-this was amazing. I'm planning on running my free trial of class pass down with one last class and then maybe doing some individual classes (or even the lower class pass membership) for a bit so I can try out the other classes I haven't done yet. Then if I continue to love it and it feels sustainable, and as soon as I can crunch some numbers I ABSOLUTELY plan on becoming a member. I'm obsessed.

Workouts with friends are always more fun!

Results Fitness Center is a true gem and one of the last gyms in LA that still has a soul. The owner, Leo, is present, genuinely cares about the community more than scaling, and truly believes in what he's built. The members aren't zombies staring into space with headphones on, people actually say hello, respect each other, and still give you your space to train. There's a real energy here that's hard to explain unless you experience it. I honestly hope to see more gyms bring back this kind of spirit and culture, but for now I'm just grateful I found this one. Thanks for reading. See you at the squat rack.

5 stars - my go-to Equinox location…read more Equinox Studio City is my home gym and I'm here pretty much every day. I've been to Hollywood, DTLA, West Hollywood, Glendale, Santa Monica, and Studio City is still my favorite overall. Biggest thing is cleanliness. For how busy this place gets, it's always maintained. Towels are always stocked, locker rooms are constantly being cleaned, and I've never walked into a shower that was out of products. There's always staff in there keeping everything in check. Another huge win is Erewhon Studio City right next door. You finish your workout and immediately have a solid post-workout meal ready. Nothing beats that. There's no Earth Bar here, but honestly you don't even need it because Erewhon is better. You do have to time your workouts though. Early mornings before 8am are the best, weekends early are even better and usually empty. After 9-10am it starts getting packed, and evenings around 5-7pm are honestly tough if you're trying to get a smooth workout in. People complain about parking because the plaza gets busy, but I've never had an issue. I go early, get a great spot, and I'm out before it gets crazy. One issue I've raised multiple times is people bringing oils into the steam room. When they pour it in, the whole place smells, it sticks to your body and hair, and I've had allergic reactions from it. It happens less now, but when it does it completely ruins the steam room. Feels like something that could be controlled better. The vibe here is more low-key, which I like. People mind their business and just work out. Compared to Hollywood, which can feel more social and sometimes uncomfortable, Studio City feels way more normal and focused. Front desk and trainers are hit or miss. Some are great, some don't even acknowledge you. Trainers here mostly keep to themselves unless you hire them, while other locations feel more welcoming. Not a dealbreaker, just noticeable. Music is at a good level too--it doesn't interfere with your headphones, which I appreciate. At the end of the day, I'm here daily for a reason. If you figure out the timing, this is one of the best Equinox locations in LA.

Almost $400 a month for a single floor gym? No thank you…read more I couldn't put my finger on it but something about this place just wouldn't allow me to relax. Something just felt very busy and crowded about the space. I never feel anxious working out .. and I gotta be honest I was expecting more. The gym floor just feels CRAMPED. All the cardio machines felt on top of each other. There's a mirror in the center of the floor by the dumbbells that doesn't look secure since it shakes when people drop weights or walk by .. what's that about? If you're someone that likes to do hiit or has your own routine where you just need a little section to exercise, they don't have that. There's people everywhere. There no turf or anything. There's a small stretching area next to the group exercise classroom if you're able to squeeze in and find a space. I do like that they offer theraguns for use in that stretching area. The locker room was probably the best part. Very cozy and very clean. Second best part was the yoga class I took, I enjoyed that. It's nice to have so many classes available, but I'm not one for group classes. Oh yeah, they DID have a versa climber which is rare to find in a gym these days. I appreciated that because I love that thing. Overall I was disappointed, it's just not for me. There's gotta be a better location.

I've been going twice a week for four months and am thrilled with the progress. The training is initially about form and understanding the approach, and it seemed light at first -- but I followed the process. After a couple of months, I was getting pushed hard. I am now able to easily get up from a lying down position without using my arms for support which is a HUGE development for me. The workout is intense, but it's only a half hour and the 1:1 staff is there to get you motivated. This program is a real gem. I now feel motivated to be more physically active in general. The program is more costly than a regular gym membership, but well worth it for me given the quality instructors and the results.
