I made an appointment with Jessica today and it's the best haircut I've gotten since moving to LA a 1.5 years ago. I was growing my hair out but on an impulse decided I wanted to go back to a pixie. When I went in I showed her a couple pictures, she took a quick glance and then gave me the perfect haircut. My hair is super thin so I'm always worried that hairdressers will pull out a razor when I say I want texture, but Jessica is uber talented and was able to get a ton of texture into the cut using her scissor skills. By far the worst customer service ever. From the person at the front desk to the hair stylist. They are completely unprofessional. I was a dedicated customer to a hairstylist by the name Mandy, I followed her from one salon to another for 2 YEARS. She came to Rudy's and just like that one day stop responding to my texts and calls. Have the decency to tell a client you either cannot do the hair style they want or no longer can book me. She also was there when the rude front desk person was asking me to pay while I was getting my hair done, she also was closing the shop before my blow dry was done. So basically I left like a wet dog. What kind of establishment treats customers like this? I would not recommend to go to Rudy's nor recommend getting your hair done by MANDY read more

Rudy's is a great place, everyone's always nice and accommodating (they are a really well run company and they take great care of their employees) but I really want to take a second to talk about Spring. She has been doing my hair for over 13 years and I always tell friends that she's the boss of my hair because she is literally the only person I will let touch it. Her color, cut, blow dry skills are incredible. I really can't say enough good things about her and how many compliments I get about my hair on a daily basis. If you want to do yourself a favor, go see her ASAP. Over the years I have probably referred over 100 people (conservatively) to her and they all swear by her as well. GO SEE HER! read more

I have been going to Rudy's now for years. First in Santa Monica...and now I've followed hairdresser Spring out to this location. When I first went to her, going through a bit of a mid-life crisis, I showed her a photo of myself when I was 20, with an 80's shag, looking, if I may say, the best I've ever looked. And I said make me look like this again! Well, there was little she could do with my body, but my hair, in no time, literally, she had me looking like my youthful self again. So now I drive all the way across town to see Spring! Just be clear about what you want, a photo really helps :-) She takes great care of me. read more

No one will ever really know according to the receptionist because they're large corporation I called this place and ask them if they had experience with African-American hair The receptionist first chuckles and then asks me to hold on once she comes back to the phone she asked what type of haircut I would like I told her a fade she says they have one person who would be willing to cut African-American hair I have dreadlocks long dreadlocks but my sides are faded so once I arrive to the barbershop after looking for it for several minutes because they are advertised as Rudy's barbershop online but they have a huge sign that says fellows barbershop instead of Rudy's I walk up to the front door That's when the receptionist locks the door and picks up the phone and tells me that they can no longer Honor my appointment because they have to go to lunch but I could see them in there laughing and pointing at my hair this place is a racist establishment and no one of color should ever Enter this place at all. I really love my new haircut and I really enjoyed being helped with my hair by Marvin. I asked him not the easiest haircut and he took his time to give me great suggestions on how to manage my hair (after pregnancy they become curly and I don't know how to handle it). It looks like most of the non positive reviews comes from male costumers but I would recommend this place. The price is more than fair compared to the other salons in the area (or LA in general!). DO NOT COME HERE worst haircuts ever it was 35$ for nothing I could have done a better job then them. NEVER COMING BACK and I suggest you don't come. Service is great they are nice but they don't know what a haircut is. After my session she said that it was a comp service because of my experience last time. Was very nice but I wanted to pay her still (which I did as a tip). Made an appointment online about an hour in advance. Easy when I walked in, waited about 10 minutes after my scheduled time. The shop has a cool decor and atmosphere, but everyone is very approachable and nice. Iryssa was calm, collected and great at what she does. She checked in a few times during the cut to see if she was giving me what I expected. Took about 40 minutes for a short hair men's cut. Received what's probably the best cut I've had in years. Walking in at 3pm, the receptionist had told us appointments were booked up until 5 -- there was only one barber in the shop and he was packing up his supplies for the day. I used to go to The Hive to get my hair cut but recently they have made a giant price hike. Clearly I am not their target clientele so I went on a search for an affordable yet cute hair cut. A friend suggested Rudy's but I only knew of the silver lake location and I didn't want to drive out there. I was happy to find we have a Rudy's in HLP now. Made an appointment online and was able to come in the same day. Ismenia did a fantastic job! She is very friendly and easy to talk to about what you want out of the haircut. Was even willing to make the cut a bit shorter when I asked. I thought my hair would be considered "short" but it wasn't so it might be worth clarifying before you go in but the difference is only $10 so I wasn't too upset. Took my teenage son in to the Highland Park location for a trim today. The stylist (blond woman, name starts with B, can't remember!) was so annoyed that I offered very mild input about what he wanted. Even my son noticed it and remarked afterward "Wow she was passive aggressive. She really didn't want your input!" Maybe she's insecure as a stylist, but it was so catty and weird. An experienced stylist should be open-minded and gracious about a client's ideas and be happy for the clarity. To be met with so much repressed attitude was so lame. She was out of line. I stayed polite for my son's sake otherwise I would have told her to check her attitude and would have left. read more

ALEXIA IS AMAZING!! She's currently at this salon and has been doing my hair for over a year now. Cut/color/highlights/gloss - she's done a fabulous job with all my hair care needs. As someone of south Asian descent, it is SO hard to find someone that colors your hair and does it well. Not once have a felt like Alexia has suggested a color or done my hair in a way that is crash against the yellow undertone of my skin and simultaneously makes sure it the color doesn't wash me out. She never tries to sell me on hair treatments that I don't need (esp on a student budget) and always puts my hair care and quality as priority. Bless her soul. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! read more

I have been to MANY of the various locations in various cities. I like the brand, the ease, and when you find the right stylist you can score a great cut/value. This location however is like a ghost town! I've now tried this place twice and won't be back---ever! In my initial trip in I came early. I was told I could be seen at 230. It was 11 am? I was like????? You don't take walk ins? I was told they had one stylist only. I just left there again----7pm on a Thursday. Was told I needed an hour wait to get in---only two stylist and both with clients in chair (but no wait otherwise.) "did you change your concept for this location?" I asked. "Nope not at all," she answered, "were just booked up at the moment." So now in next door, pissed off, mainlining cocktails, what's the deal with this location? Not busy enough too require an ample staff? Am I being a needy dick? I'm not sure I get it! read more

I needed a haircut for a very important occasion, and was in a city that I was not very familiar with. I made an appointment with Fellow Barber, and it turned out to be a home run decision. From the moment I walked into the shop, I was greeted with the utmost professionalism, friendliness, and respect. The young man who worked at the front desk (I can't remember his name -- he had red hair) was so welcoming and nice, and got me situated. Darlena is an absolutely first rate professional. As soon as she sat me down, she was able to infer exactly what kind of haircut I normally get, just by how my hair was styled that day. She added a few unique twists to my usual haircut, and it turned out to be the best haircut I ever received. Furthermore, Darlena was an absolute delight on a personal level. We shared many interesting conversations about life, which really elevated my experience and made me feel happy. You can get a decent haircut anywhere, but there are very few places where you can get one of the best haircuts of your life and meet really cool and down-to-earth people all in one experience -- Fellow Barber is one of those places. read more

Had a good experience with a knowledgeable barber who gave some key pointers on how to cut my hair. I went in at about 10am and there was no wait, although the other reviews do show the busier times of day can result in quite the delay. I was in and out in about a half-hour. The place is fairly well kept and stocked with plenty of product. The one main downside to this location is the price. $37 for a haircut and wash is a bit expensive. If you can afford the price tag, then this pace may be worth it for you. read more

Asked for a simple undercut with a fade on the sides and showed the barber photos of what it should look like. She glanced at them for two seconds and then went ahead and did a 1 all over and cut the top way too shot. Was clear she had never done one of these before and just kept cutting the top shorter when I told her to adjust it. Extremely unhappy with the result and frustrated that I have to live with this head of hair for the next month. I've come to Rudy's in the past and had excellent results, but it's clearly hit or miss. read more

No comfortable place to wait. I called in like usual to make a appointment. I was told I could come right in and get a cut. But when I showed up the barbers were busy. Finally, a half hour later and no closer to getting a haircut I left. Rudy's has lost what made them good. Time to move on. read more
