She said she thought we would be a good match and boy was she right. 2 years later, I am still very loyal to Viviana. I live in Dalllas, Tx but come to LA every other month and I always make sure to set my appointment with Viviana. She does beautiful blonde work. I am in my mid 30's and have a crown full of silver. Jennifer was a very savvy hair consultant on style appropriate for your specific hair texture, your desired "image," and how you like to maintain your hair. For me, because my hair has a natural curl which I hate to style using gels/product daily, she steered me against a layered look which would simply poof out naturally. Instead she recommended a repeat of a previous neat-edged cut that I showed her an image of. She showed insight and sensitivity to what would work *for me*. That was modest of her and I really appreciated it. She didn't make it a show-off session about some whiz bang cut that she could pull off. Her care as well as the salon's sanitation (and COVID safety) felt really comfortable. It was a pleasure to go here and I got a discount for being a first time customer. I was quoted a price over the phone for a color and when my appt was finished, the price was $75 more. I would not have come here knowing beforehand that it was not within my budget. The stylist was really rude about it as well and nobody apologized. People ask for quotes to see what is within their budget and what they can afford. I am an impatient person. The realization just dawned on me a few days ago. I began to recall my hurry in all that I do and my despise for those who dare hurry me. The mirror told me I was looking sloppy and drab. My hair is over-fried from the aggressive caresses of the flat iron, too often to call normal. I dialed the dusty ringer to reach my hairdresser but my call and subsequent text were unanswered. What's a gal to do? The scissors beckoned and I decided it couldn't be such a difficult task. Needless to say, I chopped at my hair without scrutiny and was left with a mismatched mop of "What the f@#k have you done, pendeJA?" I tried Supercuts on Friday. I waited at the Vons parking lot for it to be 9am on Friday, watching how many people like to pathetically hang out inside their cars in the morning with their stupid cellphones glued to their faces. I was one of them. Only to find out their hours changed and their lazy asses open at 10am now. Grrrrr!!! So, I searched for non-lazy salons in the vicinity that were open and found this little gem. I stopped by and made an appointment for the following day. It's a bit over my budget but I decided to treat myself. My recent luck has not been kind to me and I needed to treat myself. The place is noisy. Lots of chitter chatter going on as well as hairdryers and cool tunes in the background. I was glad if this because today, a Saturday, I fast and my gut was protesting quite loudly. My hairdresser was Charles, the only man in this establishment, apparently. I liked him. He's very gentle with his hands, which I sometimes confuse with inexperience, but that was not the case with him. He's very knowledgeable about hair and actually taught me how to flat iron my fine threads the proper way, to prevent further destruction. A very nice lad indeed. Super disappointed today with my haircut after having to wash it today after getting it cut yesterday. I had to wash it because it was hard and knotted everywhere! So I washed it and it literally smelled burnt. After conditioning it, I blow dried it and realized my layers were uneven and the method used to cut my hair or the scissors had damaged most of the ends of my hair. My hair is still knotting which does not happen after conditioning and blow drying. Wouldn't recommend. read more

It's been about two weeks since the third or fourth time I've gotten my hair cut by the lovely Jennifer and I've gotten so many compliments and continue to feel so good about it. Jennifer is wonderful. She's a true craftsman with impeccable attention to detail and perfectionism when it comes to evenness. She asks questions and requests photos/description and is overall an EXCELLENT listener, which is really the best thing you can be as a hairdresser!! She's also a very delightful conversation partner and Cutlab is such a friendly and professional-but-welcoming atmosphere. I've lived in LA for almost ten years now and have probably seen at least 15 hairdressers during that time -- Jennifer is hands down the best of them all. When I decided to chop off my long hair I wanted to go to a hair stylist that has a lot of experience in cutting short hair; I wanted a bob cut, long towards the front and short in the back. After searching the Internet I found a perfect place in Beverly Hills. A haircut cost $120 and color $195, my hair always looked fabulous. I got my hair cut at this salon a couple of times until I realized it was not smart to continue paying this price so I decided to start my journey to find a less expensive place. For about two months I went to three different stylists and none of them could give me the perfect haircut. One day I tried a salon in Old Town Pasadena and this is where I met Cat. I showed her pictures of the haircut that I wanted. When she finished looking at the pictures, she explained how she was going to cut my hair. After I agreed, she started cutting my hair into small sections. She believes it is better to cut little by little because if it's not short enough she can always cut more. If she cuts too much, she would not be able to undo it. While she was cutting my hair, I was so nervous but at the same time, I hoped that she could be "the one" that I could always go to for my hair needs. When she was done, I looked in the mirror, then she gave me a smaller mirror so I could see the back. My hair was flawless, just like the results I got from the salon in Beverly Hills; I was very happy. The first time I went to this new location, I was so happy to see her. When I had short hair, I saw her a lot but now I have long hair so I don't see her often. First, she offered me a drink (coffee or tea), then we gave each other an update about our life; I always enjoy talking to her. As usual, I tell her what kind of haircut I want but most of the time I leave it up to her to style my hair. ::Highlight:: Cat has been cutting my hair for over five years. She is kind, professional, funny, a good listener and communicates well. When I have plans to go out, she loves to help me get all Dolled Up by curling my hair. I was so darned pleased with my experience at Cutlab. I am a loyal Aveda customer and when searching their website for an Aveda concept salon, I was delighted to find Cutlab, just two miles away! I called them up. After speaking with the very nice gentleman on the phone I was booked in with Jen two days later, perfecto. The salon is located in a super cute part of Eagle Rock and is itself a very comfortable, modern, zen space. Every stylist in the salon was extremely friendly and genuine. Pretentious and stuffy this place is NOT. Now. The Hair. Let me start off with saying that almost every time I go into get my (very) long hair cut, I spend a good amount of time thinking about getting bangs--and I always chicken out. So, of course I went into Cutlab with the same bang ambition. Jen was so wonderful about my hesitations and kindly talked me through the process of getting some bangin' bangs. The result? She is amazing with style and technique. I literally just walked in, met her and told her, "make me look good".
