I'm still confused and upset as to how badly my hair was botched. The pictures will say everything. My hair was beautifully done by Primrose before and I tried someone new and I totally totally regret it. I think one of the issues that makes me mad is how this girl was going to let me leave the salon looking crazy. She admitted to trying to lift it in one sitting when people do it in two. But that's not what I wanted!! After I realized how bad it was I panicked and thought there's no way I can leave like this it's embarrassing. Another girl really tried to make it better but she suggested to come back and I appreciate her trying. It wasn't her problem to solve. The girl who messed up my hair didn't even have the decency to apologize. I came back the next day to try to salvage my hair and it looks better but still looks awful and no where near what I wanted. So, I've been forgetting to write a review for my experience here. Honestly, the best experience I've had yet with my hair. I'll start off with all the things awesome about my experience. It was affordable and reasonable for what I wanted, came out looking amazing, and made my hair feel and look healthier than it did before I got it done. All thanks to Britni! I wanted to get half of my hair bright red on one side and the other side black. I came in with a weird blue ombré. But I left with awesome, fun hair and I get compliments on it every time I'm out! She not only transformed my awkward colored greenish, blue hair (that hadn't been cut in over a year and a half), but made the lengthy process fun and exciting, and also relaxing. She was so fun to talk to, made sure I was informed about the upkeep with my hair, how to preserve the color in my hair, what to look for in shampoos/conditioners, and warned me about things like temperature of the water I wash my hair with and lots of other things too! She made my hair feel and look healthier (even though she had to bleach one whole side of my hair) I'm in love with my hair and random people say they love it all the time too! :D Touch ups are also always fun and relaxing and reasonably priced. This review is long overdue, mostly because my experience was awful enough and I didn't want to relive it by writing this, but I hope those who read this find it helpful when choosing a stylist and salon that is right for them. I have had my hair cut twice before by Abel and trusted him at this point. My college grad pics were coming up and I really wanted a layered hair cut with curtain bangs along with a rose gold balayage. I messaged Abel, showed him the reference photos of what I wanted, he said he could do it, and I booked the appointment. My appointment began at 2pm. He finished my hair a little past 9pm. I was there for over 7 hours, and that's not even the worst part. My hair was nothing like how I had asked for it at all. Instead of balayage, he did a whole head of streaky blonde highlights and attempted to tone it with a rose gold toner. To reiterate, I wanted balayage, not bleached hair with rose gold toner, but I thought he knew what he was doing so I didn't question it when he was doing the foils. I thought maybe different hair dressers have different methods for balayage. He rushed the cut at the end because of how long he took with the color, so there were no layers and it just looked like a blunt chop. Also no curtain bangs like I had asked. When I finally saw the finished color and cut, I was in shock and said it was much lighter than I had wanted and also that the rose gold was pretty faint. I also mentioned how there were some patches where the color didn't look blended, like you could see the line where it was foiled. He said he could schedule me to come in for some touch ups. Really? 7 hours at the salon and I still would need touch ups? I paid $350 + tip for a botched color and cut and literally had a mental breakdown in the car once I left. I was so upset and I had grad pics coming up and didn't know how I was going to fix this. The days following, I was in contact with the salon manager, Janelle, and had explained to her the situation. I showed her pics of what I asked for and what I ended up with. She offered me two options: another stylist could try to give me the color and cut that I wanted and they would give me $50 back / a $75 gift card... or they can get me back to natural and only refund me for the color so $265 refund. I will attach what she told me via text. I also spoke with her on the phone and we kept going in circles. I wanted them to get me back to natural and fix my haircut free of charge and issue a full refund. Not only did I have to sit in a chair for 7 hrs straight and come out with nothing near what I wanted, my hair was now overly bleached and damaged and it smelled like chemicals for days. She kept telling what she offered me was the best she could do. I asked to speak to the owner Clay, and she said he would say the same thing she was saying. It took a couple days to hear from him, but when I finally spoke to him he offered to get my hair back to natural and fix the cut himself free of charge and refund me for what I paid. He fixed it, and it was alright. Definitely better than what I had from Abel. When he was done, he pressured me to tip for the service. I never got my tip I gave Abel refunded, but I still tipped Clay and the assistant who styled my hair at the end because I didn't want to be rude. This was such an awful experience, I felt gaslighted by Janelle, I wasted so much of my time arguing with her and it was so frustrating trying to advocate for myself. I still spent money in tips for an end result that I didn't ask for nor was satisfied with. Please be careful booking with this salon. I'm sure every stylist is different, but it wasn't fair for Abel to say he could do the color I was asking for when in reality he couldn't. He should have been honest and referred me to another stylist who is better experienced with balayage / the result I was going for. It was pathetic and extremely unprofessional how Janelle acted and then to be pressured to tip after what I was put through was just unbelievable. First time experience at the Loft today and I had such a wonderful time. I really needed some change and came for a haircut with the idea of toning also. One thing lead to another and I ended up getting highlights and a full dye on top of the cut. I absolutely love it. My only qualm is that the color did not come out the way I had asked, but it's still pretty. Hi, It's me again. I am posting another review because the first one does not do the bleach atrocity justice. I was initially only concerned with looking passable and focused my on my roots, but upon further investigation I came to the shocking realization that my roots were't the only part of my hair that was ruined at the initial appointment but the entire length of my hair was also affected. I did not have obvious, Zebra--like bands in my hair when I came to the salon and now there are *multiple* bands dispersed throughout the entire length of my hair. I think this is due to the first stylist only picking certain sections of hair at the top of my head and taking the bleach and putting it down the entire length of my hair only on the top and not thinking about any of my waves. The foil method was also questionable. I am going to address this with them, again, and ask for my money back because the damage that was done to my hair is unacceptable. I am predicting possible responses and I'm really hoping that they don't respond with, "It is just 'highlights' because of my waves," or that it is, "not that bad." I would suggest taking a good look at the entire length of my hair and count the number of bands (5 if not 6) because apparently no one can do that at the salon, I have to be the one to notice it. I also do not want to be told that, "We have brought you in twice to fix it therefore we should keep your money." The damage done to my hair will cost a hell of a lot more than $300 to fix completely. To drive the point home that my hair needs help, they called me (days later) and offered to try to fix it more, and Clay (the owner) sounded panicked because I think he finally realized how bad of a job his employee did. I have been through a lot with my hair. I've had dreads, I've shaved my head, I've had extremely long hair for the majority of my life, and people's opinions of my hair used to put me in physical danger, but I can say with 100% certainty that this is the unhappiest I've ever been with my hair. And the worst part is that I feel like this is my fault and that I didn't properly protect my hair. I would also like to mention that I did not feel comfortable when I was trying I get my hair fixed for the second time (I had to go twice). Whoever the two male employees were that were working that day (and I'm pretty sure one of them was the owner) made me noticeably uncomfortable with their "subtle" side eye glances, making me aware that they saw the review I posted the day prior and were trying to see if I was overreacting or if there was a genuine problem. At the end one of them pretended to look at a magazine behind me to get a closer look and the reaction wasn't a positive one but decided to say nothing. I could continue with more detailed descriptions but I am done with this experience and want to move on. I will be reaching out eventually but I know they read their reviews so I hope they contact me first to make things right and return my payment. Have a nice day, thank you. read more

I decided on a spur of the moment to get a cut and highlights, and booked a same-day appointment with Brittany that afternoon. I can't say enough great things about Brittany! She's friendly, bubbly, positive, and was extremely patient. I have long, thick, straight black hair that hadn't been dyed in 14 years, and it took extra time to get the highlights done. I also showed Brittany some reference photos of face-framing bayalage and she totally delivered. Because the appointment took longer than usual, I had to leave before she finished the haircut. Brittany went above and beyond and booked a follow up appointment the next morning to finish the cut. I'm really happy and highly recommend going to Brittany for a glow up!! This review is a bit overdue but I wanted to share it nevertheless. Went in for a consult. Upon walking in I was only acknowledged by another stylist and told to sit down. I waited half an hour past my appointment time and was not offered even a cup of ice. The receptionist socialized with another worker who was doing her makeup the entire time I was there. They had cups of Starbucks and other drinks all over the common table where I had to sit. Waiting is a problem because I have things to do plus the parking is limited to one hour on the street. My stylist ended up being great but left the salon shortly after my first appointment. read more

The worst haircut I ever had in my whole life. I had thought I got the worst haircut a few years ago but I was sooo wrong. My hair was a little longer than my shoulders when I went in. I showed Lisa Song a picture of an emo cut and asked her to do that cut but to keep it long. She did nothing even close to that cut. She chopped off ALLL MY HAIR. And I am not exaggerating, cut it so short that I can't even think of fixing. I was in shock. My usual Solon was closed and I wanted a new cut and thought this place has really good reviews. I got home and my boyfriend was pissed and I was still in shock. I am putting up a picture of the haircut I asked for and the haircut I have now a few weeks grown out. I don't even know how to fix it! Every day my boyfriend says"don't worry it will grow out. But what is wrong with the girl that chopped it off?" Obviously Lisa Song cannot cut hair. I believe the other stylists there maybe good but the whole experience is terrible. I paid full price for her to chop off all my hair literally and walk away like nothing. I first came to The Loft Hair Lounge in 2013 when I was transitioning from hair that was down to my butt to a pixie. I had cut my hair myself but needed someone to take care of the fine details. I was scheduled with Amor & from then on I kept coming back. She was so great with me & had such a warm personality that made me feel so relaxed. Eventually I stopped coming because I started to do different things to my hair myself - nothing to do with the salon whatsoever. Fast forward to today to where I am now transitioning from my pixie cut to longer hair! I was originally scheduled with Amor but there were some scheduling issues (which the receptionist had called to inform me of a few days prior) & so I decided to go with a different stylist instead - Lisa Song. I had seen some of her work on their Instagram page & of course said I'd like to schedule with her. Lisa was so chill & personable. I actually recognized her from a few years back & knew she'd been cutting hair for a while. She listened to my concerns & was very focused on styling me properly the entire time.
